Thanks for your comment. I noticed the Charles B. DeBellevue on the list of new articles. I nominated it for DYK, but first put citations in order. A good place to look for information about citations is WP:CITE. There are a number of templates that can be used, which simplify citations. The <ref> formatting for citations seems to be one of the most common, especially for featured articles, though there are other approaches.
The Military history project offers some guielines, in particular on content, style, citations, etc. -- Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history#Content and style.
Take a look. Feel free to drop back by to my talk page and ask further questions. — ERcheck ( talk) 01:24, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
I did some more work on the Notes section after your last edit. I keep forgetting to fill out the edit summary before I save but I will get better at it. RE: Question "Jeffrey Ethell and Alfred Price (1989). Footnote #4 - is this for page 141 or pages 55-61 or both?" I am pretty sure it is both. I changed it that way until I can go back to the library and verify page number 141. I could not tell from my notes. Thanks again. Colgator 05:00, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your contributions! Sean William @ 19:29, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
You're welcome on the DYK nomination. It is an interesting, well-written, well-researched and referenced article.
As far as the edit you asked about, I think I understand the question/edit summary. I've quoted the paragraph below. The paragraph starts out in the third person, describing the scenario. Where I've marked it in italics, it changes to an apparent first person narrative (bold mine). If part is intended to be a quote, then "quotes" should be put around that part. It would be helpful if you would review and either make it all third person, or make the relevant first person wording quoted.
“ | hey got a visual on the MiG about 5 miles out on final approach with his gear and flaps down. Getting a lock on him, they fired missiles but they missed. They were coming in from the side-rear and slipped up next to that MiG no more than 500 feet apart. He got a visual on us', snatched up his flaps and hit afterburner, accelerating out. It became obvious we weren't going to get another shot at the MiG. | ” |
As far as a spell checker - no, there isn't one for the edit window. Sorry. — ERcheck ( talk) 23:53, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi - just found your name in the Mil History project members list. I might be one of those who compliments your edits on the ANG pages. I was wondering if there were particular areas that you tend to focus on? I've been working on some of the more obscure ANG units (Air Operations Groups, Command and control squadrons, etc.); would you be willing to assist on these? The reason I ask - I've put in a whole bunch of Freedom of Information Act requests through USAF's eFOIA system. The ANG/National Guard bureau has been helpful (got the logo patch for 222d Command and Control Squadron through FOIA), but I cannot keep swamping their system for information - it ticks them off. From your comment about coversing with you about edits and references, you seemed to be big on validation and verification - FOIA can provide "official" records in which to validate the information. As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Zappa
O
Mati is wishing you a Happy
Memorial Day! On this day, we recognize our fellow countrymen who have fought our nation's battles for the past several hundred years, protecting our freedom and safety. We remember those who paid the ultimate price and we support those who continue to willingly sacrifice their safety for the sake of their country. Happy Memorial Day!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current
Arbitration Committee election. The
Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia
arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose
site bans,
topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The
arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to
review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on
the voting page. For the Election committee,

Hello, Colgator. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Greetings,
"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.
The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.
The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are now open. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting doesn't commence until 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the coord team. Cheers, MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 00:53, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are opening in a few hours (00:01 UTC on 1 September). A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the current coord team. MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 17:51, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Just a quick correction to the prior message about the 2022 MILHIST coordinator election! I ( Hog Farm) didn't proofread the message well enough and left out a link to the election page itself in this message. The voting will occur here; sorry about the need for a second message and the inadvertent omission from the prior one. MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 17:40, 15 September 2022 (UTC)

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote.
If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review
the candidates and submit your choices on the
voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{

I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 23:59, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current

Greetings,
"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review
the candidates and submit your choices on the
voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{
NoACEMM}}
to your user talk page.
