A Happy New Year to all our readers and welcome to the January 2012 issue of the Bugle! You may have noticed that we skipped December – this was only a cosmetic change to make the month match the publishing date. You have not missed any editions! This issue's article news will report on Featured and A-Class content promoted in December, the contest department will report results of the December article writing contest, and so on. This month we also kick off a new interview section, which we're inaugurating with questions for one of the pioneers of our project, Kirill Lokshin.

In project news, voting for one of our most prestigious awards, the " Military historian of the Year", is now open. Seventeen editors have been nominated, and your vote is needed to determine who will be in first, second, and third place. The editor with the most votes will receive a golden wiki and the title, while the next two places will receive silver and bronze wikis. You are allowed to support as many, or few, people you want. (ed./coi note: both editors of the Bugle have been nominated to receive the award). The voting period concludes at 23:59 (GMT) on 28 January, so please head over and support the folks you believe deserve this honor!

The quarterly reviewing awards have gone out for editors who have participated in peer, A-class, or featured article reviews. The Bugle wishes to thank all editors who offered their advice and thoughts, and we encourage others to join them in their efforts. Without participation, these processes cannot operate! Peer reviews are located at WP:PRH, our project A-class review process is at WP:MHR, and the featured article candidate process is at WP:FAC. There are many articles in our Academy on reviewing, and one of the most helpful pages on the topic is coordinator Nikkimaria's " Reviewing featured article candidates."
