Welcome to the ninth edition of the Bugle for 2017!

As always, you can find the articles promoted to A-class and featured status last month in our article news section. Four of the five FAs are part of long-running series by MilHist regulars: aircraft in Australian service, Yugoslav naval vessels, German capital ships, and the campaigns of Frederick the Great. Among the new A-Class articles are three by editors who are achieving this milestone for the first time: Kees08, Iazyges, and Finnusertop -- congratulations to all three!

Meanwhile, the book review section features two recent works assessed by Hawkeye7 and Nick-D, one on Japanese anti-submarine escorts during World War II, and the other focussing on Australian participation in the Vietnam War. TomStar81 contributes his regular timeline of events this month 100 years ago in World War I, and Hawkeye7 takes over this month's op-ed to look at Australian and New Zealand forces in the Third Ypres Offensive.

Your editors, Ian Rose ( talk) and Nick-D ( talk)
