Season's Greetings and welcome to the December 2013 edition of the Bugle!

Nominations for this year's " Military Historian of the Year" award are now open. You can also nominate editors for our second Military History "Newcomer of the Year" award -– this aims to recognise editors who have just begun to make a major impact on military history article writing in the last 12 months or so. You have till 22 December to nominate, and another week after that to register your votes!

We're finishing the year with a big issue, including a five-person interview and a double-barrelled op-ed... You can find all the MilHist articles and lists promoted to Featured or A-Class status last month at our articles page: November certainly saw a varied mix of articles promoted! We have two book reviews focusing on the British Army during World War II and, appropriately on the eve of the centenary of World War I, war graves from 1914–18. The interview is a sequel to last year's multi-editor discussion on some of the less-represented area of military history. Finally, we have a wrap-up of 2013 and some thoughts on 2014 in this month's op-ed by TomStar81 and Nick-D.

Don't forget the Bugle is always keen to receive submissions of news items, op-eds, and book or other media reviews. You can leave draft contributions for a future issue at the newsroom, or ping Nick or Ian for feedback on ideas for articles or material in your user space.

A Happy New Year to all members of the project!

Your editors, Ian Rose ( talk) and Nick-D ( talk)
