Welcome to the December 2015 edition of the Bugle!

The regular article news section features a very diverse range of content, ranging from a biography of a medieval-era prince to an article explaining a vital part of atomic bomb-making equipment. In the book review section Hawkeye7 provides an assessment of a book on the German retreat from France in 1944.

Once again TomStar81 has contributed two articles on the First World War. His timeline of events in December 1915 covers what was a pretty quiet month on the Eastern and Western fronts in Europe, but a busy one elsewhere. Tom also discusses the impact of the war on empires outside of Europe in an op-ed.

The project's October-November backlog drive concluded this month with 13 editors taking part. Focusing on several elements of the project's B-class assessment criteria, the drive aimed at reducing the backlog in several areas such as missing photographs, improving grammar, adding task forces and completing assessment checklists to name a few. A couple of key achievements were the completion of 460 B-class checklists and the addition of taskforces to 346 articles. Congratulations go to Catlemur, Molestash and Hamish59 who secured the top three spots and were awarded the Golden, Silver and Bronze Wikis respectively.

As well as the backlog drive, the 2015 Military Historian & Newcomer of the Year vote has just concluded. Congratulations go to AustralianRupert, Peacemaker67, and Nikkimaria, who took the 2015 Military Historian of the Year Gold, Silver, and Bronze Wikis, respectively. Congratulations also to Tomandjerry211, who took the Golden Wiki in the 2015 Military History Newcomer of the Year. On behalf of the entire project, we congratulate everyone nominated for this year's Military Historian and Newcomer of the Year awards.

In other news, a proposal to reorganize the National and Regional task forces by introducing Continental task forces has been made. All project members are encouraged to read through the proposal, ask questions, and sound off the proposed changes to be made.

Finally, best wishes for the Christmas season and the new year!

Your editors, Ian Rose ( talk) and Nick-D ( talk)
