Welcome to the eleventh Bugle for 2020!

We're pleased to bring you a bumper article news section this month, with seven new featured articles and ten new A-class articles, as well as a new featured picture. The book review section includes reviews by Nick-D and Hawkeye7, as well as five reviews published elsewhere.

TomStar81 has returned to his huge series on World War I with an op-ed covering the internment of unknown soldiers after the war.

Congrats to Hog Farm, who recently had their first Good Topic promoted, First Battle of Newtonia Historic District. Gog the Mild has also had a Good Topic promoted, the five-article Punic Wars. Great job! In other project news, Sixula, Solavirum, Hiroshi-nya, Altair110, EHatch04, TimothyBlue and Delta fiver all joined the project in October. Welcome to all, feel free to ask any questions you have at WT:MILHIST.

Finally, we will open our annual Military historian of the year and newcomer of the year award nominations in December. If you have observed an editor going above and beyond, or if you have seen a new member really dig in and move mountains, please do consider nominating them for the honors.

Your editors, Ian Rose ( talk) and Nick-D ( talk)

Milestones

Sturmvogel 66 recently had his 90th Featured Article candidate promoted, well done! Sturm is the leading Milhist member for number of FAs, leading the peloton of Parsecboy (84), Hawkeye7 (82) and Ian Rose (81). Sturm is also fourth across of the whole of English Wikipedia. Some way back is Peacemaker67 who recently had his 60th Featured Article candidate promoted.

Awards and honours

Contest department

The October round of the article improvement contest attracted seven participants, with 42 articles being improved. First place went to Sturmvogel 66 with 8 points from 10 articles and they were awarded the WikiChevrons. Gog the Mild came second with 88 points from 8 articles, for which they received the Writer's Barnstar. Also scoring were Djmaschek, Hog Farm, Lineagegeek, Peacemaker67, and Zawed. Congratulations and thanks to all participants. You can self-assess up to C-class for the contest, but B-class assessments need to be done by another editor. This is best organised by posting at WP:MHAR. Make sure to add your entries for the contest as soon as they are promoted, this allows time for them to be checked progressively.
