You might be better off asking about this at c:COM:VPC. It may be something that needs to be determined on a image-by-image basis since the site appears to be hosting content submitted by others and only states that the content "is readily available in various places on the Internet and believed to be in public domain". The first part about being "readily available" doesn't mean not subject to copyright protection; so, it's the last part about "believed to be in public domain" where opinions may differ. The site says it's also hosting content as fair use, but Commons doesn't accept any fair use content per c:COM:FAIR. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 02:52, 1 November 2019 (UTC)

It depends upon how and where you intend to use them. These look for the most part like clip art which means that there's probably a lot of free equivalents which can be created/found and used instead per WP:FREER; for example, a non-free image of a women sitting down is most likely not going to be allowed. However, if one of the images has itself been the subject of some sourced critical commentary or was created some who is Wikipedia notable as a person, then it might be possible to either use it in a stand-alone article about the image itself, for primary identification purposes about the subject of the article (for example, an article about a video game character), or as a representative example of someone's artistic style or work (for example, an article about an artist or graphic designer). -- Marchjuly ( talk) 04:11, 1 November 2019 (UTC)

Iam a Croat, so he is referred as a Father of the Homeland, for all Croats, not "by some Croats." His face is on 1000 kunas bill. ?

MarchJuly, thank you. I read the note that Diana sent me and understand the cut and paste issue. I originally thought that i could/should quote and cite from articles directly, i realize now that it is a more fluid and original style that Wiki wants, to avoid a sense of whole cloth pickup. In the latest updates, i phrased in my own underdtanding and words and not whole cloth pickup.

On the Civil War article i would respectfully disagree that it is too much detail - the fissures in the area among the population was a key dynamic during that tumultuous time, as was the differences between eastern virginia and western Virginia, during the Tuckahoe vs. Cohee regional animosities. These enduring frictions and differences was one reason why West Virgibia itself split, and the same dynamic was present throughout the Shenandoah and in Woodstock specifically. It had to do with a different cultural makeup of the population, different economics, and the presence of mountains between that were hard to pass. Likewise, the burning of the Valley is something that was central to the Woodstock region, reknown in the area, in which barns, mills and farms were destroyed - it actually resulted in a refugee caravan, it was no small matter and Woodstock was smack in the middle of it. I don't believe this is too much detail but enough, and I don't plan to add anything further. The battles themselves I thought were brief summaries that explained them, in brief fashion.

Likewise, I won't add anything further to the Revolutionary period, although I also believe that the facts I added are useful and not too much detail. If you have been to Woodstock you know that Muhlenberg is a big presence, in historical sense. I think it is important to know that he came to Woodstock not simply as a pastor, but as an expereienced soldier, this was the reasons why Washington asked him to recruit on the frontier. And likewise, Woodstock was a town that was central to settlers in the area, in an expansive "Virginia" frontiter that extended well beyond the borders of what is now seen as Virginia and West Virginia. These recruits came to Woodstock, where the regiment was formed. I think it is important because the "mental map" of what is Virginia was much different back in that day, when western Virginia was the frontier. The 8th Virginia was an important contribution to the Revolutionary war - from te frontier region, organized by Woodstock leaders, and among the toughest fighting units in that army (frontier-recruited troops had experience in warfare and survival). I don't plan to add anything further of course.

I understand that the Wikipedia articles are summaries, I also hope not to dumb them down to omit key dynamics while striving to be brief andt to provide some limited key context while linking to other Wiki entries, which you noted I should do, and I have done. I have also stopped linking to any outside sources, btw. I went in and cleaned uo the article according to your grammatical style notes so you would not have to. I have learned a lot from you and Diana during this - the style pointers she sent me were very helpful. I had just though I was to be strict on quoting and citing sources and realize now that the "cut and paste" approach is not appropriate, even if cited. thank you for your help in editing Lee C McIntyre. I am reading the MOS links that you send me. About use of dates, I always use this format, 11 November 2019 , because the name between the numbers is less often confused, especially when different countries make different assumptions about number order. The MOS states that I should use the date format that is already used in the article. I will try to do that from now on. Is that a correct understanding? Also about underlinking, If the automatic citation gadget puts in a different date format, should I edit it to match the article format? That seem like a lot of work, but I can do it if needed. I will try to do more linking, you seem to do it very thoughly, is there a tip on making it easier to discover missing links? Toandanel49 ( talk) 15:43, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

Hello, I saw your comments at Wikipedia talk:Noticeboard for India-related topics#Peravurani and took a look. The Activists section has one addition (Environmental activist) that might be considered relevant but the tea shop owner celebrating Thiruvalluvar Day is trivia and certainly falls under Wikipedia:NOTEVERYTHING. I agree with your assessment on the recent additions and that they appear to good faith edits. In fact, the "Notable peoples" section was totally unsourced prior to the additions.

Thank you for taking a look. I was unsure about the tea shop owner since it did seem a bit trivial, but it seem to be supported by a RS so I left it as is. The other activist did seem more likely to be someone who could be mentioned in the article. Your talk page comments seem fine, though you forgot to sign the last one.
