Hi, I notice the Ainu flag was finally deleted after discussion, but I wonder why only this flag from FOTW website has to be deleted, while there're 30 other flags from FOTW in the same page? Is there any special copyright applied this image only? (just want to know) Chakazul ( talk) 03:18, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi Chakazul. All of the other flags on that page seem to be freely licensed files uploaded to Wikimedia Commons or Wikipedia which means there is much less restriction placed upon their usage then a non-free file such as the Ainu flag. Non-free images may be used in article, but each usage must satisfy all 10 of the non-free usage criteria and such images are really not allowed to be used for decorative purposes in galleries or tables, etc. per WP:NFCC#8 and WP:NFG. My guess is that the image was deleted by Explicit because the consensus was that its usage in Ethnic flag did not satisfy the NFCC. Since all non-free content is required to be used in at least one article per WP:NFCC#7, removing the image would make it an orphan and thus subject to speedy deletion per WP:F5. If you feel image can be in another article and are able to provide a valid non-free use rationale for such usage, then you can always post a note at User talk:Explicit or WP:UNDELETE and request that the file be undeleted. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 05:04, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for the message OfficialCHE. Just curious, but who are the "we" you are referring to above. Are you aware of that Wikipedia accounts are not supposed to be shared among different users per WP:ROLE? Also, if by chance you are connected to Brooks in anyway and editing on his behalf, then you would be considered to have a conflict of interest. There's nothing wrong per se with editing only a particular article or genre per WP:SPA, but it could lead other editors to assume you are connected to him in some way. COI editing is not specficially prohibited by Wikipedia, but it is something highly discouraged. You may want to take a peek at WP:PSCOI just to see what kind of COI editing is considered acceptable by the Wikipedia community. --

Hi Hanna Simpson. Thank you for the message. I tried to clean up the references you added. Just for reference, there's nothing wrong with citing non-English sources as long as they satisfy WP:RS, but if you do then it's sometimes helpful to provide a brief translation of the relevant section per WP:RSUE. This can be added to the citation template using the |quote= parameter (See Template:Cite web#Quote). Translations do not have to be professional quality; They just have to be sufficient enough for the reader to understand how the cited source supports what is written in the article.

Regarding COI, you are considered to have a conflict of interest because you have stated you are an employee of the museum at User talk:Materialscientist#Ottoneum. That doesn't mean you can never edit the article, but it does mean there are certain limitations placed the type of edits which are considered OK for you to make. COI editing is not expressly prohibited, but it can be a bit tricky to do so it is something which is highly discouraged. It might be a good idea for you to take a look at WP:PSCOI to see what these kinds of edits are. Of course, what you know about the museum is true, but what can be verified through independent reliable sources matters more to Wikipedia than what we may personally know about a particular subject. The information on the museum's official website is considered to be a primary source, so it's usage is rather limited. Wikipedia articles are not really supposed to reflect what a source says about itself or what those connected to the source say about it; Rather, articles are supposed to reflect what independent reliable sources say about something. So, any sources you can find which discuss the museum and are independent of it would be helpful. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 02:12, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi how are you? You say that No. 17 of WP:NFC#UUI applies to it yet it clearly says that "Specific child entity logos remain acceptable". 10c should have had "Florida State University" on the image's file usage section. The image also definitely fulfills #8 on the NFCC because that entire section is about the athletics of the university. That is the main logo of athletics and not having it there would definitely be detrimental to the readers' understanding of the article topic.-- SeminoleNation ( talk) 22:21, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Hi. Keith and I were in the same college in Delhi. And I exactly know his age. We passed BA Hons in 1993 and he was 2 yrs elder to me then. So he can't be born in 1980.

Thank you for the message Sparuthi. Everything you are saying may indeed be true, but Wikipedia requires that a reliable source be cited per WP:BLPSOURCES so that the information can be verified by anyone reading the article. What we as editors may personally know to be true is considered to be original research per WP:VNT and therefore should not be added to articles. This is especially true for information added to articles about living persons. The source cited in the article says the Sequeira was born in 1980. Of course, it possible the source is mistaken, but what is then needed is another reliable source which states he was born in 1970. You can ask for other opinions at WP:BLPN or even WP:RSN if you like, but Wikipedia, unfortunately perhaps, does not consider our own personal knowledge of a subject to be acceptable as a reliable source. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 07:14, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
