How do I fix an incorrectly spelled subject name? The wikipedia article "Era of Good Feelings" should be named "Era of Good Feeling". How do I drop the "S"?

I have a question. I was editing the article above, but almost all the other infoboxes got absorbed into the Arkansas infobox and I'm not sure how it happened and how to fix it, since when I was using the visual editor, everything seemed fine and normal, and what I was doing had worked many times before.

I am not an editor. I am hoping that someone else can fix this issue. In the entry for a wassail bowl en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/wassail Wassail a photo example has been included of a man in blackface. Surely it is not necessary to include this culturally offensive image to demonstrate a bowl? I’m hoping someone can remove this image, either entirely or to replace it with one that does not stir up ill feelings. Thank you. 2005sfuta ( talk) 03:10, 11 April 2022 (UTC)
Good evening gentlemen/miladies,
The terminologia anatomica has been re-edited in 2019 and is much more logical than the first edition. https://ta2viewer.openanatomy.org/
Since one year, I work full time to create an open source 3D atlas of anatomy ( https://www.z-anatomy.com/) which includes this list of anatomical structures in several languages.
English and Latin are default, I translated it in french and the Portuguese version has also been corrected.
For this atlas, I adapt, copy-paste and create a definition for each of these anatomical structures (I have about 2700 on 7200) Most of them are the actual Wikipedia page, but the name has been adapted to the new nomenclature.
In order to be up-to-date, Wikipedia could take advantage of this work and adapt all these pages.
We are talking about >2500 pages and more will come (>7000).
The creation of the definitions inside the atlas and the other tasks are already taking all my time.
Do you have any idea about how to update the content of Wikipedia to the new TA2?
Sincerely

I am making a Blog post on Google Blogger about the benefits of creating a wikipedia account, and what wikipedia is not, and then how to create an account.
I already have a Wikipedia account and want to create a test Wikipedia account and then request deletion of the account.
Is this possible? ScientistBuilder ( talk) 01:53, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
Testing and training: Users who use a lot of scripts and other tools may wish to keep a second, vanilla account, for testing how things appear to others; or for demonstrating Wikipedia's default appearance when training new users. The second account should be clearly linked to the main account, except where doing so would interfere with testing or training. So, disclose the account as a legitimate alternative, use it for your training purposes, and abandon it if it is no longer needed. There is no need to delete the account, and as pointed out above, deleting an account is not really possible for a variety of legal and technical reasons. Cullen328 ( talk) 02:56, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

How can I delete a non-free file when the deletion won't be a problem for anyone?
I saw something about making a request to the Deletion Administrator but I couldn't find out how to do that.
If a non-free file is uploaded but not used in the article named in its accompanying information nor anywhere else does it get automatically deleted after a time? In which case I would not need to ask for it to be deleted.
I uploaded the file but had forgotten to crop some unneeded stuff from the bottom of the image. I then uploaded the image under a different name after cropping it but realised a bit later that in any case it was not a very good choice for making the intended point. So I now want to delete two files.
The files would be of interest only to someone making minor edits to the article Michael O'Connell (artist) and at the moment that's only me.
The two files are:
Michael O'Connell, textile artist - Harpist.jpg
Michael O'Connell, textile artist - Stony harpist.jpg Tpsoconnell ( talk) 10:44, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
This ties in with my previous question.
If a non-free file is not used in any article can its image be amended or replaced?
I uploaded the file but had forgotten to crop some unneeded stuff from the bottom of the image. Could I have cropped the uploaded image? Or could I have cropped the source image and swapped it in in place of the original image?
The file would be of interest only to someone making minor edits to the article [Michael O'Connell (artist)] and at the moment that's only me.
The file is:

There has been a re-organisation of districts in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India effective from April 4 2022. The corresponding page on List of districts of Andhra Pradesh is edited. However this change is not reflected in other pages of wikipedia. For example, the page on assembly constituencies of Andhra Pradesh still lists the constituencies under the old districts. This error is present in each of the individual pages of the constituencies.
I am from Andhra Pradesh and new to wiki editing community. I would like explore and if possible contribute to an automated solution which fixes the above mentioned errors. tulasi 09:12, 12 April 2022 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tulasimohan ( talk • contribs)

10:45, 12 April 2022 (UTC)This means that updating is likely to require care and some thought. If a district has changed its name, with little or no geographical alteration, then an article on it can simply be moved (leaving the old name as a redirect), and some text added about the changes. But if districts have been abolished and new ones created, then articles on the existing districts should be updated to show that they are historical, and new articles written about the new districts. And mentions of the districts in other articles, such as you mention, need to be looked at individually and updated accordingly (and sometimes, if they are in historical articles, left alone). I suggest you post at WT:WikiProject India to see if anybody wants to pick this matter up. -- ColinFine ( talk) 13:40, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

Isn't there a noticeboard or forum of sorts where I can ask for help locating sources? I'm wondering if I could possibly locate the source I've mentioned at the talkpage of one of my drafts: Draft talk:Timber Wars. Hello, I recently tried to edit theory of mind as quite a bit of the information in it regarding "autistic people do not have theory of mind" is out of date is generally agreed to be wrong by modern scientific consensus (similar to how "autism is caused by vaccines" could be cited with out-of-date studies). My edit was reverted as unjustified (that's fair, I should've been more clear) so I tried to edit again this time making it more clear why in the edit description and adding more sources, but it's been removed again and I was asked to justify at the talk page (again, fair - I should have done that initially). I've now explained in the talk page, but I'm now worried about editing it again in case I get in trouble for an edit war but also am feeling a bit stressed because not only is the information out of date, but it's also actively harmful to autistic people. Can I ask for any advice regarding this? Thank you and I apologise -- ☽☆ NotCharizard ( talk) 05:37, 11 April 2022 (UTC)
one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. So most edits are by implication "major". However, Wikipedia encourages editors to be WP:BOLD and sometimes, indeed, to write whole articles from scratch. If you do make large edits to existing articles, then don't be upset if you get reverted, that's just the WP:BRD cycle kicking in and you just need to move on to WP:DISCUSS with other editors. Many articles I edit have few, or no, other people recently interested in them, as judged their Edit History. So large changes I make probably won't be a problem. However, sometimes it's obvious that lots of people will have the article on their watch pages and the "Page information" link will tell you how many these are (if >30). That's useful in knowing how bold to be. Likewise, the Talk Page of an article can be used to make a judgement: how recently have editors been discussing content? One other tip is to add new content to well-established articles in relatively small increments. Then other editors can revert the bits they don't like while keeping the parts they are happy with, making it easier for you to build up a WP:consensus. Hello!
I don't think I can link our page here since it's in draft status, however, I wanted to see if I could get some assistance with how to get our page approved. It's for our upcoming film 'Nomad' that is not released yet, however, we have noted several on-line sources (not of our own) that talk about the movie production.
The decline notice says, "most of the sources say this movie hasn't released."
Does this mean we cannot get it approved until the film is released?

I just was looking for answers and figured This may be the best way to get these answers before doing something that is out of the realm of Wikipedia and would get immediately taken down. I also really disliked the option of hiring a third party because as you had mentioned they do “guarantee” which does not seem right to me. I appreciate both of your assistance it helps so much! ~~

"it's necessary, because I want it."is any sort of justification! Do beware attributing things to people or making statements that are not substantiated in the source. In one place you wrote
"Choi-ahoi proves her "invaluable talent for.... I see no use of the word "proves" in the source, so that sounds like your own opinion or interpretation. Do try and avoid that, and keep your quotations very short. I'm not convinced that the long English translation is relevant as it seems rather like "art-waffle" to me that one single reviewer wrote, rather than anything intrinsically encyclopaedic or informative about the subject or her work. The reason given is that the article does not cite sufficient reliable sources and seem to be promotional. The sources cited are published articles in reputable magazines, recognized Halls of Fame, etc. Please tell me what is wanted that can make the article acceptable. It would be helpful to me to know what is lacking in citing, for example, the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame, the California Western Swing Society Hall of Fame, the California Country Music Association, the Arhoolie Foundation, the Grand Ole Opry, etc. I might add that Wikipedia cites the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame, for example, in articles about other steel guitar players, and there are Wikipedia articles on virtually every one of the entities listed. "As one of the first generation of pedal steel guitar players, Bobby Black is a major contributor to the musical styles of the instrument and one of its primary innovators, expanding the traditional Hawaiian and Western genres in which pedal steel was used to include jazz and rock and roll. During the years he spent playing with Asleep At The Wheel, Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen, and New Riders of the Purple Sage, he introduced the steel guitar to countless young music audiences in the 1960’s and `70’s."and your only reference is a Variety article about the death of George Frayne. @ MoyaiViper:. You have the draft in your sandbox and in principle it just has to be moved into the correct namespace (i.e. prefix "WP"). However, I would strongly suggest you don't do so. The experienced editor Theroadislong was clearly not impressed when reviewing it, and I have to agree that it's not particularly amusing or useful in its present state. Note that WP:TOOMANYESSAYS points out that you should not repeat ideas/advice that are covered elsewhere, in this case about edit warring. Maybe you would be better trying to improve an existing essay on that. Mike Turnbull ( talk) 19:01, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

As a fourth year medical student I find a troubling discrepancy of quality between Wikipedia articles of Western and non-Western medical professionals. Is there any ongoing collective initiative to address this issue? Every second or third article about non-Western subjects seem to be a complete mess, significantly smaller content-wise and slapped with years long unresolved tags while their Western counterparts are maintained in proper order. After I carefully keyed in the edit, left the "minor edit" checkbox unchecked, provided a brief summary of my edit, clicked on "show preview" and found my edit on the previewed list, I went back to the edit page and found it was not saved (as warned might happen). So, I visited the article's edit page once more to key in my edit again, left the "minor edit" checkbox unchecked again, and provided the same brief summary before I clicked on "publish changes."

Am I allowed to try and figure how to remove that redirect, or should I first ask on the Talk page if anyone objects to me removing it? Hello everybody,
I have been editing on articles for a while and last year I started a new article in my sandbox User:Yeti-Hunter/sandbox. Basically it´s a stub about an offshore supply ship which is actually to be converted to the new oceanographic research vessel of the Schmidt Ocean Institute. So far I am done and ready to move it. But I am struggeling with the Move of the content to a draft page because the name convention for ships requestes that the name is in italics like R/V Falkor (too) and worse the name of the converted vessel contains two characters ( ) which might cause even more trouble to me. So, my question is now. Should I fill in the Displaytitle-template with the name of the vessel {{DISPLAYTITLE:xyz}} aka the MagicWord, and add this template in the very first line above the infobox inside my sandbox content? Or should it be placed when I create a draftpage. I already tried something like this but I got a error message because the real vessel name does not fit to the naming convention for article names. I really apprechiate your help and I am looking forward to your advices. Yeti-Hunter ( talk) 16:02, 18 April 2022 (UTC)

Dear Teahouse,
There have been many issues regarding possible stonewalling on a living person's WP article Talk Page. Please check that on /info/en/?search=Talk:Patrisse_Cullors, two editors who frequently edit articles together, as can be confirmed by reviewing their Talk Pages, have refused any addition to the primary, protected article over recent allegations of nonprofit funds misuse by Mrs. Cullors. The issue here is not the use of non-RS, like Fox News or Daily Mail, but after several acknowledged RS surfaced in the past few days, such as The Independent, NY Mag, Jezebel, Snopes, and others, these two editors still refuse by claiming that this same RS previously did not consider Mrs. Cullors culpable. They further try to deflect any addition by claiming only the nonprofit Mrs. Cullors led should bear any additions these RS might bring since, in their own words, "this is a smear campaign."
We require a neutral Admin, not related to this article, that will look at this situation. I believe this is a clear case of WP:STONEWALLING and WP:TAGTEAM. Please help us with the following steps to take.
Thanks for your time.

Biographies of living persons ("BLPs") must be written conservatively and with regard for the subject's privacy. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid: it is not Wikipedia's job to be sensationalist, or to be the primary vehicle for the spread of titillating claims about people's lives; the possibility of harm to living subjects must always be considered when exercising editorial judgmentand also
A living person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until convicted by a court of law. Accusations, investigations and arrests do not amount to a conviction. For individuals who are not public figures; that is, individuals not covered by Public figures, editors must seriously consider not including material—in any article—that suggests the person has committed, or is accused of having committed, a crime, unless a conviction has been secured. If different judicial proceedings result in seemingly contradictory outcomes that do not overrule each other include sufficient explanatory information. In this case, there are allegations of of inappropriate real estate purchases. Without expressing any opinion about the best way to describe this issue, or whether to mention it at all, I will say that perhaps two separate real estate transactions are at issue, and that one was made by an organization and the other by the individual in question, possibly using her own funds. The policy issue is that, unless misconduct has been proven by a court of law, there is a very high threshold to even mentioning such allegations. Any mention of this matter must accurately and neutrally summarize what high quality reliable sources say about the dispute. Coverage from unreliable sources should not influence the content discussions in any way, shape or form. Any editor who "grinds an axe" to advance an effort to smear a living person should be aware that they are at imminent risk of a block. Cullen328 ( talk) 04:32, 18 April 2022 (UTC)

Hello, for the last month or so I’ve been having some issues with a pacific editor YLoGM. The subject of this dispute is a image of the Chinese emperor Chongzhen YLoGM believes it’s his brother Tianqi. After going back and forth for a while I decided to message Gary Lee Todd the individual who actually took the photo of the portrait in question and he told me that he simply copied the label of the portrait which stated that it was Chongzhen. The portrait is located in the Ming Tombs which is a museum so unless the museum is wrong it is in fact Chongzhen. So I again put the portrait in the info box of the emperor and told YLoGM about what Gary told me and I even left a message on YLoGM Talk page giving a link to my conversation with Gary on Commons so that they could for themselves. Hi. Question1: I try send 3 algorithm, but failure by admins. If not wiki interested in algorithm, where can i found community about sorting? You can look on page https://mlich.zam.slu.cz/js-sort/wiki-peter/ - Pyramid-select is similar tournament, bigger code, need memory, but faster and STABLE. (n=1000, cmp=8700) - Sorted-list-meging is half part od merge, detect sorted list and merge it. Or select sorted list is 1. Simple code, need memory, fast, stable, 3x faster in multithread mode. (n=1000, cmp=8700) - Insert-middle (binary sort from timsort), but my code not use complicated code for detection left-right galop (n=1000, cmp=8700)
Question2: Why not in table for algorithm added information about stable or unstable?
Question3: Why use for complex info formula n log n? Its false. True formula is
Sn = A*n - (2^A - 1) // i not see any log, ln, i see exponent
| n = 8, A = 3, sn = 8*3 - (2^3 - 1) = 16 + 8 - 7 = 17
| n = 1000, A = 9.35, sn = 1000*9.35 - (2^9.35 - 1) ~= 8700
| Sn(0..A) = (n - 1) + (n - 2) + (n - 4) + (n - 8) ...

Hi, I have been asked to update the page for the company I work for, /info/en/?search=Fat_Face. I am completely new to editing Wikipedia (usually only responsible for updating content on the company's own site), so did not realise I wouldn't be able to make these changes myself due to a conflict of interest - until I published them, and they were promptly undone. Several other WP users reached out to me to explain the issues, and following their advice I have changed my username as appropriate and disclosed my affiliation with the company on my user page.
I am now looking at requesting the changes via the relevant Talk page, but was wondering if there is any way that I can submit the code that I had rewritten too, as I feel this would save a lot of time/repetition of work. I had made changes to several areas of the page; some simple text changes, others adding or removing citations and ensuring that all citations had been formatted in the same way. I believe the main issue was the promotional/branded tone of the rewritten introduction, so I have re-re-written that to be more objective (largely inline with what is already there). The other changes are factual (changes to leadership and ownership, number of stores etc).
I would be happy to write out a list of edit requests to summarise these changes, but thought it might be helpful to already have them done and ready to drop in, if approved? Thanks! LB at FatFace ( talk) 15:09, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
Hello! I've recently had the motivation to get more into wikipedia, and just moved my first article to the article space, Quaker decision-making.
I decided to do a bit of spring cleaning in my user space, but noticed I can't delete my own subpages. Accorting to the
subpage page, a user must tag {{qd|U1}}
at the top of a page, and wait for an admin (or bot?) to delete.
Why is this? It's quite unintuitive for me as a relative newcomer. DougInAMug talk 15:17, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

The title of this article really needs to be changed. I don't believe there is any resource in print where Bervic is known by the name "Balvay"and you got indignant about it. Yet I proved in a few minutes that your assertion was incorrect. Now, you seem to be claiming that Bervic should be preferred to Balvay. Maybe you are right. But in making that argument, you really ought to admit that you were wrong in your initial assertions. That would go a long way toward developing an amicable consensus outcome, which ought to be based on an analysis of the best reliable sources discussing this person. Since the current version of the article mentions both names in the first sentence, this is not really an urgent matter that justifies dogmatic claims for immediate action. 05:56, 19 April 2022 (UTC) Written by Cullen328 (who perhaps hit "~" once too often). Among the areas that Deep Life tells me it...which shows this reference is not helping with notability. Part of the problem is that a high-profile figure like Eric Schmidt is frequently interviewed and may mention some of the ventures he is involved with but you need to try to include some reference with WP:SIGCOV of Innovation Endeavors itself that aren't just things that would be in a trade directory, which Wikikedia is not. Hi editors and fellow Wiki people,
I've been working on maps of battles of the French Revolution previously such as in Battle of Fleurus (1794), and I've previously relied on an OSM no-labels version found here: https://mc.bbbike.org/mc/
However, this has since gone down and is no longer available, and I'm trying to find other sources of OSM maps with no labels that I could use to base my map annotations and labels on, but I'm hampered by the fact that I'm really not very sure about the licencing situations for alternatives, or about how OSM maps and tiles and layers work at all.
I have started looking at alternatives (so far I've seen Mapbox, Maputnik, and Stamen Maps) and some of them seem like they might be applicable--but before I begin experimenting, I'm wondering if anyone already knows if these are suitable licence-wise for Wikipedia? Or if someone already knows another source of no-label OSM? It's a bit specific a question, I would really appreciate if anyone has any input or suggestions they can share.

Hello, Wikipedia Teahouse!
I work with VisualEditor and I recently came across this template:
Template:Railway_line_legend. It is a route map for trains (subways/underground/metro) and wanted to make one for my local city's metro system. However, there is no place to edit or make one. How do I do this? Example maps are:
Mumbai Metro,

Isn't there a noticeboard or forum of sorts where I can ask for help locating sources? I'm wondering if I could possibly locate the source I've mentioned at the talkpage of one of my drafts: Draft talk:Timber Wars. Just Googling bits of the quote doesn't bring up the source, and I was wondering if other people on Wikipedia have access to tools that might help locate the source.

Hello. My username is Marthature. I have received an email that my proposed article on musician Bobby Black "Articles for creation: Bobby Black (musician)" Draft:Bobby Black (musician) has been rejected by Wikipedia. I skimmed through that Variety article, and if Bobby Black's name was mentioned I didn't see it.

The experienced editor Theroadislong was clearly not impressed when reviewing it, and I have to agree that it's not particularly amusing or useful in its present state. What is the correct format for article titles? (I know book titles do not require quotations, but am less certain about article titles.) TNewfields ( talk) 09:54, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
Is there any reason why Wikipedia editors seemingly opt to prioritize one over the other? Toxitrophic ( talk) 11:23, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
A bit ago I asked here about uploading a copyrighted image for an article of a videogame, and was told it's allowed as long as the article is in the mainspace (ie, not draft). Said article is now in mainspace, I've gone to upload the image on wikipedia/wikicommons but both times it's done a "make sure you're only uploading this if it's your own work!" of course, is it not my own work, so what is the process for uploading this type of image? -- NotCharizard 🗨 14:07, 16 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi everyone, I am completely blind and use a screen reader. While this site is already useable for me, I wanted to learn if any specific skin plays nicer with screen readers than the others, or ones I should avoid. I'm currently using MonoBook, as it seems to be the most compatibility focused. To be clear (and not to insult anyone's intelligence!) this is not a question about font or contrast, but about the best skin to use for this kind of assistive tech. I added Ari Folman's film the Congress which references the book The Age of Spiritual Machines to the "In other media" page of the latter. I cited the film's script which mentions the book by name. It was removed because apparently only a secondary source means something is notable enough to add it to the "In other media section." I have seen countless articles where the "In other media" or "In popular culture" section cites only primary sources. I read a novel with a character that could appear on this page's list:
/info/en/?search=List_of_fictional_rodents_in_literature
After I carefully keyed in the edit, left the "minor edit" checkbox unchecked, provided a brief summary of my edit, clicked on "show preview" and found my edit on the previewed list, I went back to the edit page and found it was not saved (as warned might happen). So, I visited the article's edit page once more to key in my edit again, left the "minor edit" checkbox unchecked again, and provided the same brief summary before I clicked on "publish changes."

I find that quite awkward, as it's difficult to get from that redirected Talk page back to the article I'd just worked on.

YLoGM Left it alone for a week or two but earlier today I noticed that it was reverted so I again reverted it and again stated that I had suficiente proof that it was Chongzhen and they again reverted it. So now I don’t know what to do I know YLoGM will just keep reverting it. What can I do? Orson12345 ( talk) 01:03, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

Its false. True formula is
Sn = A*n - (2^A - 1) // i not see any log, ln, i see exponent
| n = 8, A = 3, sn = 8*3 - (2^3 - 1) = 16 + 8 - 7 = 17
| n = 1000, A = 9.35, sn = 1000*9.35 - (2^9.35 - 1) ~= 8700

Accorting to the
subpage page, a user must tag {{qd|U1}}
at the top of a page, and wait for an admin (or bot?) to delete.
Why is this? It's quite unintuitive for me as a relative newcomer. DougInAMug talk 15:17, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

The title of this article really needs to be changed. The individual referred to himself as Charles Clément Bervic ... was known by this name in his time and ever since, and he is not readily identified by the name "Balvay." I don't believe there is any resource in print where Bervic is known by the name "Balvay"and you got indignant about it.
