Getting more communities involved in overseeing a page
Hello, I'm just wondering if there's an established way (read: polite) of getting more communities involved in actively checking in on an article. The article on archaeoacoustics ( /info/en/?search=Archaeoacoustics) is currently associated with the Archaeology group, but since it's a hybrid discipline, I'd like to get it associated with the Physics/Acoustics group as well - basically, it's a sort of inactive page (before me, hadn't been edited in almost a year, and the talk page has been inactive for even longer) that I'd like to start filling it out more, but would like to make sure that more established editors with an interest in the subject matter can oversee and ensure I'm not making a mess of it. Is there a polite way to start the association of the topic with the community? SuddenBowsprit ( talk) 23:27, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

I could really use some assistance in how to correct my page so that it is accepted/more acceptable. The page represents an architecture firm that has been active in Wichita for more than 60 years. In creating the content, I used the existing Wikipedia pages of JE Dunn Construction (a construction company we’ve worked closely with), Proudfoot & Bird Architects (a long history of identifiable architecture throughout the mid-west), and DLR Group (another entity we’ve worked with) as a guide of what to do and what not to do. My first draft was fairly straightforward in content, following the styles of the pages listed above. JE Dunn lists the cities they are located in, with Wikipedia links to those cities. Proudfoot and Bird links to pages that don’t actually exist, which I obviously avoided doing. DLR’s page is extensively market driven, so I did not lean too far on copying their style. My second draft included more information and many more links and references, yet it was again refused. I can supply news articles spanning those 60+ years, and even though the articles don’t go on in depth about SJCF (more about the projects than about the architectural firm), there are 60+ years of coverage by external sources. I did link to the SJCF website as a courtesy external link, but I wanted to keep all marketing speak from the page, keeping with the Wikipedia guidelines. I also made sure to note my position as being paid to create the content on my talk page. I feel that I have done a thorough job on my page and have worked to follow the rules and guidelines. I am unsure how to proceed. Any and all assistance would be appreciated. WikiLDMR ( talk) 22:42, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
WikiLDMR The three articles you mentioned as models for your draft are horrible articles that needed massive cuts (really? a list of branch office cities? a list of acquisitions?), and potentially should be nomintated for deletion. Architects should know that less is more. David notMD ( talk) 03:49, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
Hi everyone,
During some browsing today, I came across the page TRUSTcollective. The editing history shows many edits by people with "trust collective" in the username, which implies to me paid editing, but there is no disclosure. Furthermore, many of the cited sources are articles by Adam Fine, who is listed as the company's founder.
My question is, does this make the page worthy of nominating for deletion, or should I just flag it for coi/paid editing violations? I'm not sure how much of the page can be saved and whether or not it meets notability requirements when you remove the primary source article sources. If the best option is to clean up the page, can sources written by the company founder be used, or do they need to be removed?
I would appreciate some advice or guidance on the issue. Apathyash ( talk) 21:53, 29 November 2021 (UTC)

This is kind of ceasing to be worth it, but if someone is reversing my edits in what I believe is an unreasonable way, and seems to be claiming some higher level of authority than me (e.g. threatening me with consequences), who is an authority I can appeal to above him or her?
More broadly, 'consensus' does not seem to be a good reason for deciding on something. A consensus of people can be wrong. I am kind of imagining that this higher authority would just defer to some kind of 'consensus', regardless of my arguments or the deficiency in my opponent's arguments.
I asked my opponent for an authority and he or she did not respond. If this is how this works, like I said, I don't really feel it's worth it, but just wondering if I was under some kind of misperception. (If there is an authority to whom I can report other editors, that would also be useful, although again I am pessimistic from what I have experienced thus far.) When I first started editing MBGN and Miss Nigeria pages, the Wiki administrators nearly took them down because they claimed my edits were against Wiki rules; only winners are acknowledged in the tables, with a few notable mentions. When my cousin was competing in Junior Eurovision I tried creating an article for her, but it was deleted because the administrators claimed she was only a contestant, not a winner (Luckily, she DID win eventually). How come Underbednangngam, another editor, keeps extending the table on The Nigerian Queen to include other runners-up, most of whom have faded into obscurity? I've tried explaining to him how Wikipedia works, but he keeps ignoring me (I've been with Wiki over 10 years, I should know). You never see that on other Wiki pageant pages like Miss America or Miss World. Why is it happening here? I think it's very unfair how you run a "Different set of rules for others" policy here on Wikipedia... Jemmabond ( talk) 14:32, 1 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi yes. I made a change to the Trail of Tears page and a user called GenQuest has gone so far as to write some trash on my personal Talk page about how the Native American genocide wasn't a genocide. They also seem to be very intent on this, showing a distinct POV on the issue, including making absolutely not-neutral statements about "cancel culture" and putting up fake pronouns ("wombat/wombastic") into their own profile. This in turn is not neutral in any way on the question of trans rights.
Your organization apparently has taken the decidedly non-neutral view that what the United States did to the Native Americans beginning before the U.S.'s present government was established and going up through the 20th century -- where Native children were sent to residential schools where they were apparently murdered in great numbers as we have recently learned -- was not a genocide. This is absolutely not a Neutral Point of View on this matter, as the evidence for the genocide having occurred is absolutely overwhelming.
I presume that you would not tolerate Holocaust denialism being placed on the same level as the Holocaust. It is flatly disgusting that anyone even has to write what I'm writing to ask, politely, that such denialism cease being a part of Wikipedia's take on the Trail of Tears, which as it stands appears to be being actively monitored and edited by genocide denialists. Please make a note of it. Spiritu ( talk) 20:33, 1 December 2021 (UTC)

I've got a draft for an item almost ready to submit for review (and add tags to for people with expertise in the area) thanks to some seasoned editors who made valuable contributions. However, I've decided that what I originally named the draft: draft:'Bert Powsey' should be 'Professor Powsey' which is the professional name of this person as would be searched on search engines and better known by moniker (btw this is a 'professor' in the non-formal sense; this person was a pier diver and there were many such divers called 'professors' in the same way Punch and Judy operators, or piano players, might be called 'professors' (as in 'Professor Longhair'). To the point, can I change the name of the draft to Professor Powsey? I'm going in circles trying to find 'move' on my edit board; perhaps because I'm new to Wikipedia I'm not able to do this. As I understand it there is a risk of losing the edit history. I would like to change the draft name accordingly and still retain the edit history of the piece. Hi there, thanks for the invite to Sandbox. I'm new to Wikipedianism, but felt compelled to try adding an item or two or three about related subjects that are of some interest to me but which are absent on Wikipedia pages. I think they're notable, but may well be mistaken of course. I've a bunch of questions I'd like to ask, but I'll stick to just the subject above. I've written one item in Sandbox, added citations bio info box, it could be item or stub. I'm sure it has errors of course, but there's not much more I can add for the moment. But there may be many Wikipedians out there who can add more if this subject is indeed deemed notable. Question is, am I ready to request asking for the item to be reviewed by experienced editors? What happens after doing this? Of course, I am extremely curious to see if I'm way off the mark or on track and anxious for feedback, for better or worse. And if the subject is notable it would be so very interesting to see any further contributions by editors. Would you encourage me to 'press the button' soon sooner or later? Thanks all for those changes. Have just discovered the 'thank' link and tried to thank everyone at least once but I can't find one for you, Richbot. But thanks and thanks all. No time to review all the iterations but the current version is much much better. The recollections and legacy at the bottom is super touch. And someone corrected that first citation. I'll have to go way back to the earlier version to get a full comparison when I get a mo, but the fact that changes don't leap out indicates it is super smooth editing. It is the errors in the earlier version that leap out ha ha. I have to look into copyright on those old photos. I've collected a bunch but was uncertain of their status and was going to look into it. There are also a lot of interesting old photos of his contemporaries as well. Apparently 70 years from time of death of original copyright owner...if there was one. I will also look at the actual title of the item. Perhaps make it 'Professor Powsey' because that is how he would have been publicly known as were the other diving professors of the time, like Professor Reddish, Professor Cecil and Professor Osbourne. It would be interesting if all these performers had items and it would be interesting for 'Pier Diving' (or some better term) to have it's own article. It seems many people appreciated it in the UK between the late 19th century and perhaps WW2...possibly what is the 'golden age' of pier culture. There seems to be evidence of other similar 'pier culture' attractions elsewhere, perhaps in Europe and certainly in the US, for example, where there were the diving horses. Again, cheers to all and for the assurances that this might be a worthwhile article. Afewthings ( talk) 17:47, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
OK, that's great...I asked another question about how to change the title from Bert Powsey to Professor Powsey. I searched for a Wikipedia article on Apocalypse Cow (documentary by George Monbiot, Channel 4, January 2020) - which presented a vision where farms as we know them cease to exist and that most food is produced in vats or in bio-reactors on an industrial scale. The title 'Apocalypse Cow' relates to the premise that cows and other ruminants have devastated the ancient landscape, specifically, removing trees by devouring saplings before they have a chance to mature.
I had hoped to find a balanced critique of this documentary. However, I could not find it - but I did find Apocalypse Cow, apparently, the title of an episode of The Simpsons. On further investigation, I found several claims to the title 'Apocalypse Cow' and so, evidently, The Simpsons does not have a monopoly on this title. See, for reference:
There are many more links, but I think the above suffice to make my point.
I was about to rename Apocalypse Cow as Apocalypse Cow (The Simpsons) and repurpose the original page as a disambiguation page as a precursor to creating Apocalypse Cow (documentary), but hesitated because I did not want to risk starting an edit war with The Simpsons' Fandom (I experienced something similar many years ago). These days I do not wish to indulge in any activity that invites conflict on Wikipedia - been there before, and have little patience for that.
I trust that there is consensus in favour of what I have in mind. Are there those kind souls who would support me in making above suggested edits and, if necessary, defend such actions should such changes be challenged?

In the process, human activities have disrupted the natural order of the environment by depopulating and eliminating species and adding harmful chemicals to the air, water, and soil—activities that are changing the climate and the structure and function of ecosystems, as well as the biological communities they contain.

Hi all
(a) how do I find my reading lists when I have Wikipedia open in my browser (Opera, W10)? Even when I'm logged in I can't see a link to them anywhere
(b) When I'm using the android app I only seem to be able to access my reading lists by saving whatever page/article I'm looking at (even if I don't want it) & then the 'Saved' button will take me to my list...is there a direct link somewhere & if so, where? This is the case even when I'm logged in.
(c) Oddly, even if I'm on the page of an a article I KNOW I've previously saved, it doesn't actually show as 'saved'...the bookmark icon still shows as 'save'. I just tried saving one again, to the same reading list & it is still showing as 'save', not 'saved'...what on earth is going on!
Any advice/help much appreciated as I'm studying & finding not being able to find my reading lists very frustrating!!
Thanks,

Hi,
I came across the page of Fuad Hamza, and am trying to correct erroneous information about him. It is written there that Fuad Hamza was from Palestine, and the proof presented for this was from a single source, a PhD by one student who had it wrong in there. There is also a reference that he may be a Druze from Syria -- it is also wrong. Fuad Hamza is a famous personality in Lebanon's history, and hails from the village of Aabay in Lebanon.
Here is evidence from leading newspaper in the country: [1]
You can also find in various respected resources that Fuad Hamza is a member of the Druze community in Lebanon, including these two:
Can you please help me correct this?

Hello! A bit of an odd question. I have an alt account called Blaze Fire Wolf (publicly disclosed on my userpage), and on the userpage of the alt I have stated that I'll only use it for a various number of reasons, one of those being an edit to an article I'd rather not have connected to my main account. Since I have made 0 edits so far on it (Because I created it a while back and then forgot I had it, hence why it's older than this account), would I be able to request perms like autoconfirmed and extended autoconfirmed for it if I ever feel the need to edit using it? ― Blaze The Wolf TalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:09, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi Griff3161! I recently encountered this problem when making the article Francis Bourgeois (trainspotter), my suggestion would be to name the page "(person's name) (actor)", then monitor the pageviews of both pages for a while, and then the actor's page could be renamed and made the primary topic, or the person's name (without the "actor") could be turned into a disambiguation page if that makes sense? wizzito | say hello! 17:08, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

What do we do about an editor's work that was done predominantly to
WP:CITESPAM: "citation spamming include academics and scientists using their editing privileges primarily to add citations to their own work"
. The editor was recently
blocked for sockpuppetry. The user knew full well that they weren't supposed to cite themselves, deliberately obscuring their authorship on many of the citations by omitting to mention any author, or hiding their co-authorship by mentioning only the primary author or listing themselves as "and colleagues". They have created hundreds of articles based on their own professional work (citing dozens of their own works, and their colleagues' works, in each) and it's practically impossible to extract their CITESPAM without just torching the whole article. (One example,
Addilal.) In other cases, they CITESPAMed within hundreds of other articles (which they didn't create) to add citations to their own work for minor inclusions (like their book mentioned different animal species, so they added their book to each animal's article). (One example,
[8]) The latter scenario is easier to solve (remove their inserted CITESPAM), but the former scenario is a more complicated issue. I'm trying to clean up the mess, but not seeking to 'erase' everything. I need some guidance for a balanced approach. Most policies about removing edits refer to banned editors making edits after their ban. I haven't found any guidelines covering this scenario.

Hi Teahouse gang,
I'd like to create a brand new page for a fairly busy property speculator I've come across from 18th Century Dublin (Tristram Fortick). I have tonnes of documentation to back it up and fill it out, I just wonder what are the grounds for creating a new page. He wasn't famous, but a road in Dublin used to be named after him before it got renamed to something else (Fortick's Lane to Clonliffe Road). I think he was quite important at the time, but nothing has been written about him extensively. I think he would be a great case study for erstwhile property developers in Dublin at that time. I also have a document with his original signature on it and would love to create one of those .svg files from it. Anyone know how to make them?

While reading Wikipedia articles I often come across long standing citation requests and other template warnings. For example, on the Sheffield Steelers page some of the citation needed requests date back to 2007 and the recentism template was placed there in 2009. The article is being updated but 'warnings' ignored. Surely such longstanding 'requests for action' reflect badly on Wikipedia. I have little interest in the subject matter and so wouldn't want to spend time trying to find sources to validate these passages. The talk page looks moribund so I think things are unlikely to be resolved by commenting and seeking a consensus there. The choice for me is to ignore and move on or delete the 'offending' lines and remove the citation needed warning. What are people's views here? Rupples ( talk) 15:11, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

A writer friend of mine recently attempted to start a Wiki article about me. I am a musician and although I am mentioned in other people’s pages, there is no entry for me personally. There are a number of stories and interviews in newspapers about me (both physical and virtual ones), plus of course anything can be verified by checking websites of artists, album liner notes, or seeing me perform with various famous people on YouTube etc etc. Seems to be fairly easily verifiable stuff, yet he got the message that “there were not enough verifiable sources “. He added a few more (does Wiki accept its OWN pages as verifiable sources?) and then got a message that maybe it’s “under review” or something to that effect. So it has been neither accepted nor rejected at this point. Not sure what to do from here. Appreciate anyone that can shed some light on this or suggest what to do now. Just wait? Or have yet another person that knows me write another article? I saw other people being asked what their name is on here so maybe I should put my name. It’s Jay Collins. Thanks. John Keller, the visual editor is indeed simpler -- until you realize that no it isn't. I recommend that you try again to edit the "source" (or "Wikitext"). Using it to create tables is a pain. For anything else, it's easy. Hit your Enter key twice in order to start a new paragraph. Never start a new line with one or more spaces. Two apostrophes immediately before and immediately after anything that should be italicized. Two equals signs immediately before and immediately after a heading of highest importance (such as "Accessing the visual editor", above), three of them for a heading of less importance (such as "Just say no", above). Doubled square brackets around a link. Oh, and references. These are of supreme importance, but I suggest that you spend a little time reworking existing prose, and only then add new material, of course with references. That's about it. There is a little more, but you'll pick it up as you go along. -- Hoary ( talk) 01:44, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

However the page image is still the generic image of the coronavirus instead of the vaccine.

A friend of mine wrote a page about me, but it has a warning for lack of notability. Are there volunteers who can help fix this? I've done a TEDMED talk, written four books and hundreds of articles. Had a segment about me on NPR's This American Life, and much much more, but I'm not notable??? I'm particularly puzzled because there are many people who seem less notable than I, who have pages without warnings -- for example, half my lawyer friends. I'm a lawyer with a Ph.D. in medical ethics -- the first to do a joint program with that combination that I know of and the first Westerner to go to Iran to study their organ selling programs extensively (extensively meaning hundred's of interviews, one anthropologist had done one day of interviews at one hospital). Why do I not qualify -- If the friend who wrote the page for me made mistakes, why doesn't someone help fix them, instead of making me seem like a self-promoting fraud with the warning boxes? Integrity1010 ( talk) 19:46, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
Not sure if I'm doing this right, putting my responses here. Yes, I'm Sigrid Fry-Revere. I'm also the first person to create a living organ donor advocacy group which was not run by organ recipients as a hidden way to get more people to become organ donors. My organization -- The American Living Organ Donor Fund actually advocated for living organ donors without any conflict of interest --- we didn't find donors for organ recipients. We helped living organ donors with information and helped them with expenses and lost wages -- something which at the time some people thought was illegal but now is part of the federally funded NLDAC program and many state and private programs as well. How many firsts does a person have to have to qualify as notable? Isn't the fact that I'm cited or quoted on Academia.com at least a few times a week and sometimes several times in a day worth something -- I'm part of a very important conversation -- so much so that people find it necessary to answer what I've written -- not the least of which is the research I did in Iran -- which by the way was accepted as part of the National Library of Medicine's permanent collection. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Integrity1010 ( talk • contribs) 21:26, 1 December 2021 (UTC)

Just to add, I think the "doesn't seem fair" part isn't fully elaborated, because no actual comparison has been made, only a review of the singular article. If more review was done to other biographical articles I assume the same standards should apply, but maybe no one has bothered to mark them as such. However, this is all speculation and this is not to say whether or not the article in question meets standards.

John Keller, there is a major distinction between the type of research that Wikipedia editors do, which consists of reading a range of reliable sources say about a topic and accurately summarizing them, and actual original research. Please read No original research which is a core content policy. Cullen328 ( talk) 17:59, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
John Keller, I fully agree with Cullen328 immediately above. As for your inviting me to neutrally correct an overzealous deletion in an article, I'm sure you meant this constructively and benevolently, but no, for three reasons. First, my understanding of musical notation is infinitesimal and I worry that I might blunder. Secondly, I've rather lost sight of which article this is about. I see that you have recently been editing the article Musical notation. The uppermost and oldest thread in its "talk" page contains this nugget of stupidity: "If you hadn't noticed, cultural history has indeed been dominated in recent centuries by Europe and particularly the uk." If sight of it made you despair of that "talk" page or talk pages in general, I understand. And the third reason: Do please use an article's talk page to suggest an edit that you think you shouldn't make yourself; this way, you can "engage with" other editors (who for the most part won't be nationalist nutters). -- Hoary ( talk) 23:08, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

<ref>

, then the bare URL, and then an empty pair of <ref></ref>
: this last is what the error message was about. You tried to sort it out, and ended up removing the reference entirely. Then you edited the lede, without inserting the reference, and
Cassiopeia reverted your edits as unsourced. The thing to do now is to discuss it, as Wikignome Wintergreen says. Changing somebody's nationality in an article is often contentious, and most times it would be better to discuss the proposed change on the article's talk page before making the edit; but making an edit, being reverted, and then discussing on the talk page, is a common way for things to happen: see

Natural8.com is a skin of the popular GG "Good Game" Network. According to Poker Listings, Natural8 is one of Asia's highest traffic online poker sites that focuses mainly on the recreational player experience. You include an external link in the opening part of the body of your draft, which is incorrect. External links belong only in designated sections. You say that the "Good Game" network is "popular" but do not provide a reliable, independent source for that assertion. What makes you think that "Poker Listings" is a reliable source? It looks extremely promotional to me, and I am completely unconvinced that it is reliable. The types of words that you used are promotional and problematic, but even more so, the sources you use are unreliable and overtly promotional. The bottom line is that Wikipedia is not a venue for any type of promotional content. That is forbidden. Cullen328 ( talk) 07:57, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
Am completely disappointed in how wikipedia reviewers handle musical artists articles. Am starting to believe there is bias and wikipedia favours articles about politicians. For the last few years, I have created articles about politicians in Uganda but even with limited coverage and citations, the articles would be reviewed and not tagged. Problems always arise when I work on an article outside politics, its quickly tagged and the reviewers quickly note that the artists are not notable enough to be on wikipedia. This is soo disappointing, you have to keep in mind that artists especially from countries like Uganda and other 3rd world countries usually have fewer mentions in print media however notable they are, they only get mentions from smaller websites which a reviewer might not put into consideration as he reviews an article. Am generally disappointed with the way artists are treated on wikipedia, at one point I had considered to only write about politicians because for them, somehow reviewers dont over emphasize notability. I need advice, way forward and a look into my article Abaasa and how it can be improved. Bear in mind that I dont have any conflict of interest! It's just a general observation about how my different articles have been treated. Alvinategyeka ( talk) 07:50, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

Hello,
unfortunately the draft article Lingaro I submitted was deleted. The message I received: This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.
The question: is the problem only in the style, manner of writing that it looks like an advertisement? Or this means the topic is not notable - not enough trustful sources were linked to this article?

Hi, I am trying to customize my wikipedia to make it look nicer, and there is another skin over at another wiki called WikiFur that has a really nice skin called BentoFluid that I would really like to use for browsing this wiki. Is there any way that I can get the CSS from that skin and use it here? Hello, I cited (what I think are) good secondary sources on [ [13]]. Could someone verify this and remove the flag? Or, if the sources are insufficient, can you explain why and what sources would be better? I tried reading through the help pages but they were kind of confusing. The sources I cited are interviews, but the interviewer makes value statements about the interviewee's work, so I'm citing the interviewer's questions more than the interviewee's answers (which I think would be classified as a primary source). Thank you :) Carmensandiegoedits ( talk) 13:26, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

I came across the article Outline of chocolate, and it struck me as kind of odd. I've been editing for a few years, but this is a style of article I've never come across - it's almost a list, but it isn't, and it's not a general overview of chocolate like you'd expect from the, well, chocolate article. One of the headers is just a question, which I don't think is in the manual of style.
I'm familiar with generic overviews that then link off to more detailed articles - Japanese clothing is one. I suppose it's just an article titled "Outline of ___" that's stumped me.
Sorry if this seems like a silly question - but do we really format generic outline articles like this? It seems like its content ought to be subsumed elsewhere, is all. -- Ineffablebookkeeper ( talk) ({{ ping}} me!) 14:24, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
An Earls wife is called a countess because of king George I brought over the title of count from Germany. Instead of creating a new title however he kept the title “eaorl” just update the spelling to the modern title “earl”. He chose to keep the female version of count (countess) as the female equivalent of Earl. Lord JAS MOD EOC ( talk) 00:20, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
hello everyone, thank you so much for inviting me here! i'm excited to hopefully be a member of the Wikipedia family. Arabic is my first language, and i enjoy translating articles and i would consider myself pretty good at it. specifically English to Arabic. and i have a decent amount of experience since I've translated a good sum of articles in other websites. in addition, i am a big fan of BTS. and one thing that i have noticed is that there is a very little amount of content related to BTS here in Wikipedia in Arabic. which is unfortunate.. my question is, i really want to contribute in translating bts-related content that is already here in Wikipedia to Arabic, and maybe even add to it. where should I start? i already did some minor changes in existing articles like the Arabic page of Black Swan (BTS' song) but this article is not reviewed yet. and by the way, i have some drafts of articles about bts here in Wikipedia that i translated to Arabic myself but i did not publish any of it. how can i know if the article is good and can be published here as an interlanguage/interwiki link? sorry for the long entry.. and thank you again! Hello, I am in need of urgent help, and I wish to create an article about A' Design Award & Competition, however I am involved and thus I am not sure I am the right person to write this article, normally this would not be a problem however the Google knowledge graph is taking a competitor business from Wikipedia when keywords "a design award" or "adesignaward" is searched for, this is creating us financial and reputational damages, plus many of our esteemed laureates are asking why we do not have a Wikipedia article, in the past I tried to create an article but it gets deleted each time, perhaps because I am too involved and passionate about the topic, or because I am not a native speaker of English, or because I lack the etiquette to write a proper article in compliance with Wikipedia quality standards, however I am now scared about writing an article and I don't know what to do, all I know is that Wikipedia knowledge graph as displayed by Google is wrong, and I think the only way to fix it is to provide the right article, I need desperate help from admins to write an article about "A' Design Award". I right now have 3041 current links from 649 media publications within the last few years that I was able to export myself from the website uploaded here https://competition.adesignaward.com/ArticleURLsForWikipedia.csv so I have a significant number of sources, plus A' Design Award & Competition organizes World Design Rankings, and operates designers.org we are actually constructing a larger design museum here in Como, Italy, our laureates include Google themselves, Disney, Pepsi, Lenovo, among many other prestigious brands and we actually manage http://idnn.org/ which means we publish winner design news in 109 languages, plus the jury is 211 persons and entries are blind peer reviewed, and the competition is being organized since 2009, we published 47 hardcover books, all printed in Italy. I would like to humbly ask if you could please kindly help me write an article? Everything I write sounds like an advertisement and I am too biased and I should not write this article, I love A' Design Award & Competition therefore I need your advise or help on what to do forward. I don't know if it is relevant but here I am also providing a list of information here in case:
business name: A' Design Award website: https://competition.adesignaward.com/ relevant categories: design awards, industrial design awards, interior design awards, architectural design awards instagram: https://www.instagram.com/adesigncompetition/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/adesigncompetition youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/ADesignAward pinterest: https://www.pinterest.it/adesignaward/ winner showcase: https://competition.adesignaward.com/award-winners.php and http://www.bestdesignsoftheworld.com/ press portal : https://competition.adesignaward.com/press.html press mentions : https://competition.adesignaward.com/ArticleURLsForWikipedia.csv publications list : https://competition.adesignaward.com/printedition.html
I feel I shall not write the article, given my involvement and style, I am asking you if anyone experienced could please help us write a proper, non-biased article that does not sound like an advertisement. 93.56.160.117 ( talk) 22:56, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I recently reached out to the copyright owner of an image for permission to use the image in a Wikipedia article. They said they would be OK for it to be used in the Wikipedia article, but wanted to make sure that it didn't involve "irrevocably releasing the source material" as per suggested by Wikipedia in this article: /info/en/?search=Wikipedia:Requesting_copyright_permission I would appreciate some advice as to what my next steps should be with regards to this image. Should I just upload it under 'fair use'? Does that mean that the original copyright owner can be sure that they retain the copyright to the image, and it isn't under a free license?
For specifics, the article I am working on is Raoul Whitfield's. I reached out to the copyright owner of the covers of the Black Mask, a magazine he wrote for. I asked for permission to use a cover of an issue that featured an illustration of his story. They said OK but under the aforementioned conditions. I would love to be able to use the image for the article, but of course I want to make sure I am going about it in the proper way.
Thank you for anybody who is able to help! Kting97 ( talk) 14:04, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
Hi. I notice that there are two ways people tend to handle internal linking: sometimes by replacing the link with a complete word, and sometimes by breaking the word halfway through. For instance, if I were discussion Parisian people, I could either link to the article Paris like so: Parisians or like so: Parisians. I recognize that Wikipedia special-cases the latter, to make the difference invisible to readers, so this is more a question of editing style than anything else.

22:30, 8 December 2021 (UTC)About a year ago, whenever I made a change to an article concerning my daughter, and the circumstances relating to her death, it kept being removed. When I drew this to your attention via Teahouse, you looked into this, and stopped it. I am about to arrange a major edit based on an academic paper published in a well-respected law journal. I expect that this will also be taken down by the same person or someone sympathetic to him. How can I stop this? Also, my understanding is that whenever you cite a reference, it must be an independent source and not a blog website where an individual is giving his views or interpretations. This article has many references to a particular blog website, which I propose to have removed. Where there are independent sources that deal with the point being made by the blog website, I intend to use them instead. I get the distinct impression that references to the blog website are being used as a way of promoting the blog website. Is it ok for me to do this? Obviously, if there are any issues with my alterations where they do not conform to Wikipedia's rules, I am happy to amend accordingly. RobinEllie ( talk) 20:18, 8 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi all
(a) how do I find my reading lists when I have Wikipedia open in my browser (Opera, W10)?

I tried to change the proportions of the image to appease the PageImages extension as outlined in the following pages:

However the page image is still the generic image of the coronavirus instead of the vaccine.
Is this due to the fact that the picture of the vial is made available under the Creative Commons Public Domain Mark 1.0 and images marked as public domain cannot be used for page images or is there something else I am missing here?

<ref>

, then the bare URL, and then an empty pair of <ref></ref>

Thank you User-ana5 ( talk) 11:44, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I am trying to customize my wikipedia to make it look nicer, and there is another skin over at another wiki called WikiFur that has a really nice skin called BentoFluid that I would really like to use for browsing this wiki. Is there any way that I can get the CSS from that skin and use it here? I know that you can use custom CSS for a wikipedia skin, but I'm not sure if it's as easy as copying and pasting BentoFluid's CSS From D0nk M3m3s ( talk) 12:48, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

Thanks, Bill Woodcock ( talk) 10:18, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
