Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, John Keller. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Musical notation, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{ request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. shoy ( reactions) 15:09, 6 November 2019 (UTC) reply

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. I have now made a sandox to experiment on how to do edits.
i must say the instructions everywhere on wikipedia are very confusing.
Do you see this question MrOllie? How do I make a new paragraph?
Ok I see I have to type <br>.
But what does br stand for? John Keller ( talk) 21:39, 4 December 2021 (UTC) reply

If you have general questions about Wikipedia editing the best place to ask is WP:TEAHOUSE. If you ask questions on your own talk page almost no one will see them. - MrOllie ( talk) 21:44, 4 December 2021 (UTC) reply

Thanks. But how did you come to see this on my page? John Keller ( talk) 22:07, 4 December 2021 (UTC) reply

Because I left a message here, it was placed on my watchlist for a period of time. MrOllie ( talk) 22:10, 4 December 2021 (UTC) reply
Can you tell me if there is a way to see the history of the subtopic Chromatic Stave Notation in Music Notation? John Keller ( talk) 23:31, 4 December 2021 (UTC) reply
To answer my own question, I found in my "contributions" tab, I was able to find the history of my attempts to edit the Music Notations page. John Keller ( talk) 06:28, 5 December 2021 (UTC) reply

Dodeka Music Notation

This is not an example of "Chromatic Staff Notation" since it uses elongated note-traces like the piano roll notation used in DAWs. Also this link which you left in, is clearly a personal website. So you have misled people who are interested in genuine chromatic notations. Can I get a second opinion or a discussion on this? John Keller ( talk) 04:02, 5 December 2021 (UTC) reply

Source Book of Proposed Music Notation Reforms

Hi MrOllie. Would this music reference book by Gardner Read be a suitable citation for inclusion of some examples?
