I don't really care either way, but I was thinking since the "platforms" section contains all the hardware the game was released for, maybe the "input" section should have the PS controller, etc. listed as well. I understand the privacy policy, it just seems to me reading those pages that they're a bit coy about what checkuser allows those with the rights to see. OK... First, the help page I pointed you at shows the kinds of things that CU returns when you run a check. If anything, it's rather less coy than I'd prefer if I were writing it. Second, security by obscurity doesn't work, in the long run, of course, but you'll find that CUs typically don't discuss exactly how they come to the conclusions they do in particular cases... it makes things easier for puppetmasters in the long run if they know how they were caught. Rather, CUs invite other CUs to check their work (a good part of what I do is check the work of others often at their request). Third, Sam and I have been working this case for a while now, and we constantly check each other's work. The findings are sound... you just have to take that on trust, I'm afraid, because Sam and I said so. I can't do any better than that. But you can always ask another CU to check our work too if you're dubious. However I'm usually quite conservative in saying  Confirmed, I'll only say  Likely unless things are very very solid. Hey, it looks like we were both working on this article at the same time for a while, so I apologize in advance if I you got stuck in any edit conflicts! Anyway, I in my first edit I was trying to divide all the citations onto separate lines to make them easier to edit (since that's how I see them written in most articles), but I guess that does make it hard to deal with the rest of the article when it's being edited, so I can see why you wanted to undo that. Along with that edit, however, I had made some other changes (replaced one or two bad links, changed the titles of some primary-source references to reflect that they are referencing the newspost rather than the comic itself, put in citation templates where they were missing), and also removed some redundant or unnecessary stuff from the lead-in (specifically, the paragraph about when it went up to 3 posts per week and 5 posts per week, which is discussed in detail anyway down in the Publication section; and the long list of things he sometimes talks about in the newsposts, which I think is probably more detail than we want in the lead-in section of the article). I didn't want to lose those edits, so after I ran into an edit conflict I pasted my latest edit back into the field and just manually deleted all the whitespace I had made in the citation templates--I was trying to compromise between the keeping format that you are going for in the citations, and keeping a couple of the content edits I had just made.

I'm just giving you a heads-up on that, since things might look a little messy next time you look at the diff in the article history. -- Politizer ( talk) 14:13, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

No problem! I just didn't want you to think "what is that guy doing, screwing up all the edits I just made." For now I'm going to go work on a different article so that we don't step on each other's toes while you are doing your work here. There's just one thing I'm noticing: in this revision, you restored a paragraph to the lead-in about the dates in which QC bumped up to 3 and 5 edits per week...do we need to have that there, considering it gets talked about in slightly more detail in the Publication section? I think the most important things to keep in the lead-in are the date QC was launched, and the fact that Jacques makes a living off of it (i accidentally deleted that second bit when I was cleaning up the lead-in before, so it's good that you've put that back)...but it seems to me like some of the finer details, especially the date of the 1000th comic (which strikes me as important, but basically trivia) could be left out from that section.

(I'm just mentioning that here so you can decide what you want to do about it; I'm not going to edit anything right now because I'll probably just make things more confusing!)

Sure, I'll see what I can do. Actually not long ago I thought about using something like this poster but I wasn't sure if it would be more desirable to have an actual comic. (Also, the poster would have some problems as well, namely that there's so much on it that you probably wouldn't see much detail once it's shrunk down for the infobox, and that the artistic style has changed a bit since then anyway.) So, just to clarify...we definitely want a comic in that box, rather than a poster, QC book cover (if there ever is one in the future) or other related work? -- Politizer ( talk) 15:07, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Ok, I have changed the image, you can check it out and see if you think it fits what we're going for. I chose this one because, out of the most recent 150 or so comics, it is one that has several (although not all) of the main characters (Pintsize may not count as a "main character" on the basis of how much he affects the overall plot, but I bet he has a bigger fan base than the rest of the characters combined, and his image is featured more on T-shirts than any other QC character), seems to be pretty representative of Jacques' artistic style and humor, and doesn't have any spoilers. A few other images that I liked I ultimately couldn't put up because they would have been spoilers (such as one in which Dora and Marten are talking to Faye about how she hooked up with Sven), or just didn't have as many major characters in them. To put you out of your misery! Check out m:CheckUser. It gives IP data, user agent, stuff like that. So if both accounts share IP and user agent (eg. I'd like to ask a favour of you (again), since you're significantly better at 2d image work than I am. Could you see if you couldn't extract the PVKII title logo from this page for me, keeping it clean and clear, and upload it in place of my rather poor extraction attempt from a few months ago, that just looks blurred and horrible. I'd appreciate someone who knows what they're doing taking a lookie at getting the logo out, as there's nothing else to really use in the infobox. If the imgae on the Steam page isn't sufficient for whatever reason, the logo is also on the Beta 2.0 screenshots here and on two of the wallpapers here. In a frenzy of wild editing, I added our QC image Image:Questionable content 1158-4.JPG to the Jeph Jacques article because I thought it might be nice to have an example of his work there (and it makes the page a little prettier), and added fair use rationale to the image itself. In retrospect, though, I'm not sure if this really is fair use (it's certainly not necessary to have the image there...although I'm wondering if it's nice enough to make it worthwhile anyway), so once you get a chance could you check it out and let me know if it's ok to keep it there or not? Hey, sorry to bother you again, but I have an admin question for you. I noticed this morning that a user named Geekyguild has been going through Wikipedia deleting all links to and mention of some online retailer called ThinkGeek; I have reverted many of these edits because he was compromising the integrity of the article by deleting URLs without paying attention to the context (breaking {{cite web}} templates, creating nonsense sentences, etc.). I also noticed that the ThinkGeek article has been marked as a candidate for speedy deletion because of (apparently) having been created by members of that retailer's staff to generate traffic for their website.

A few things that seem fishy:

1. The ThinkGeek article has a decent edit history, having been edited by 79 different users over 5 years (first edit was made in 2003).
2. Both the user Geekyguild and the user who marked the article for speedy deletion, WIKIGUY_PATROL, are users that only just registered this morning, and haven't made any edits other than these attemps to get rid of everything related to ThinkGeek.

Ok. I don't know anything about this retailer and don't personally plan on spending time editing that article...I was mostly just concerned about whether or not the request for speedy deletion was legitimate, given that the users behind it seem a bit fishy and the rationale for the request itself (that the site was "created by the retailer") may not even be true. I just noticed that someone removed the template a few minutes ago, but it has been reverted back--apparently it should only be removed by an admin.

Hi David, I've regretfully had to nominate Yume Nikki for deletion after very recent recreation, the web sources are extremely weak despite it being the kind of game which should attract a lot of reviews. Good job on I Love Bees, was glad to see that last thing patched up so it could pass, just reading the plot sent a shiver down my spine, the bit about pious flea tricking it into deleting the spider and then continuing to dismantle it, ew creepy. (e/c) Hi, I've been involved in a minor dispute over a fair use image, and someone on IRC suggested that you would be a good person to go to for an opinion. this image is used in the Homer Simpson page to illustrate how the character's design has changed at key points in his existance (the first Ullman short, one of the final Ullman shorts, one of the first episodes of the half hour show and the movie). However, a user has objected to it's use because it is does use four different images and one of them is similar to another image used on the page (however, I did try removing that image, but that did not placate the user). Yeah, you need to clear the cache. Then click the "fur" tab up the top. It probably won't work on the raptor red image since that already has a furme-fur, so find another one (plenty here) if you want to try it out. Giggy ( talk) 02:35, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Aaah, gotcha. Yeah, it's meant to do that. It adds {{ book cover fur}}, which does most of the work automatically since all book covers are basically used for the same reason (identification of book in infobox). Hey, since you've made images for featured topics in the past, could you work up something for the Wikipedia:Featured topics/Seasons of YuYu Hakusho, which currently has a god-awful piece of crap I did in Paint in five seconds as a placeholder. It is designed for a DVD release, and the selection was put together using a Selection Bot, based on the quality and importance assigned by WikiProjects. The Video games Project and its daughter projects have multiple articles among the selection and are currently working on cleaning up the articles to improve their presentation. A workshop page has been set up that is designed to assist and coordinate the effort. The status of and recommendations for articles is listed on the table. Discussion about which articles should be kept and removed from the list have been taking place on the talk page. If you have assisted in working on and improving a current Featured article, Good article, or A-Class article, please check the workshop page to see if the article is recommended for inclusion. Articles will need an id version submitted to ensure it is included. They will also need to be cleaned up if maintenance tags and other issues are present. Participation is not restricted, and if you can assist with the preparation effort, it would be greatly appreciated. Things to remember for preparation The workshop page has a notes section for each article. Clean up suggestions have been left for some articles. Do a light sweep of the article to address any vandalism andclean up tags: citation needed, more references, lengthy plot, etc. If you need help with an article, post on the talk page. Because some articles were promoted over a year ago, they may need to undergo Featured article review or Good article review. Be sure to list the oldid on the workshop page and User:SelectionBot/0.7/V-3. Articles need to be prepared by October 20. Articles that do not have an id submitted may not be included in the release.
