This debate and its outcome was... unfortunate. Assuming you still are interested, may I suggest creating an article in your user space, and tracking down a whack of sources to back up specific events? You should have little trouble finding a good selection from "mainstream" press. Some were helpfully provided in the AfD itself! When ready, I suggest a move to main space. It might go to AfD again, but I seriously doubt the outcome will be the same in that case. If there was anything in the original article you need, you can ask the deleting admin. Abu-Fool Danyal ibn Amir al-Makhiri 15:58, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm too new to figure out how to do all this stuff. Can you just post the original article on my user page right below your message? I'll work on it from there (actually, on a copy saved to disk, of course), thus avoiding the delete/restore/delete/restore stuff until it is fully ready. Will post it back to you, then we can stick it back up when it is done. FirthFan1 22:39, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Yea, let 'er rip. We'll do a really nice job together. FirthFan1 01:19, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Do not change the text of your comments. WP:TALK#Behavior that is unacceptable states
**Don't change your text: Obviously you can edit or delete your own words, while you are still composing the initial text, but afterwards, you should not do so, as this will put others' comments in a different context. Even if no one has replied, someone may still have read what you have written — so think before you speak! If you wish to amend your statement, use strike-through or a place holder to show it is a retrospective alteration. Strike-through is typed <s>like this</s> and ends up
like this.
John Reaves (talk) 16:28, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
I noticed that you deleted part of your comment. Please do not do so, I know you have nothing to hide, but it appears that way with this behaviour. May I suggest you use the strikethru feature like this . Please see
WP:TALK for guidance. I have restored your comment to its original form. Please strikethru to change the comment. Regards,
Navou

Yeah, "national security, foreign affairs, and corruption" is me alright. I'm the same way in real life, too. It ain't just a Wikipedia thing. ;)
Seriously, though, I guess I'm just one of those geeks who get excited about anything relating to espionage and geopolitical conflicts (both overt and covert). I guess that explains why I'm a Lost junkie, too! Regards, -- Jayzel 04:29, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
I was reading 1996 United States campaign finance controversy. How deep and corrupt do you believe it goes? ~ Rollo44 04:39, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
If you have any other questions let me know. Regards, -- Jayzel 01:29, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Please make sure it is in the public domain. Can you find out who owns the copyright to it? ffm yes? 21:51, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. You should see the debate over this bot and category at Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2007_February_20. My objection is it's intrusive and highly inaccurate, and editors are entitled to make article-by-article decisions what their "citation-needed" policies will be. Now all of them, or virtually all of them, are labeled "February 2007". In addition, the whole thing involved an administrative override of an earlier community decision to do away with the category out of which the bot operates. Anyway, nice work recently; my compliments!. ... Kenosis 01:04, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill Lokshin 13:27, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Must be a bot. lol. So fast. Nice job. ~ Rollo44 16:39, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
I agree with you wholeheartedly, as the same idea has crossed my mind many times, but since he has edited so many times in the Wikipedia namespace, I was just trying to point out that he would have read the articles and would be familiar with policy (albeit that a vast majority of those edits were to WP:AIV). ~ Step trip 02:33, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current
Arbitration Committee election. The
Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia
arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose
site bans,
topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The
arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to
review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on
the voting page. For the Election committee,

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.
The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.
The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Greetings,
"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.
The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.
The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are now open. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting doesn't commence until 15 September.
Strike-through is typed <s>like this</s> and ends up
like this.

Regards,

For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert ( talk) & MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 07:24, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time. For the co-ordinators, MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 08:35, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
Greetings,
"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge.

They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting doesn't commence until 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the coord team. Cheers, MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 00:54, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
