This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Bands and musicians. It is one of many
deletion lists coordinated by
WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at
WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at
WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Bands and musicians|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by
a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (
prod,
CfD,
TfD etc.) related to Bands and musicians. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

This is a biography of a thirteen-year-old boy. The only claim to supposed notability (badly sourced) is that he won a prize in an obscure busking competition, about which the Australian media seems to say next to nothing.

Why on earth do you think that local media for Berkshire, Massachusetts would be reliable for content concerning obscure busking contests in Australia? They clearly aren't if they are claiming that this child won the event. He didn't. He won the 'primary' section: presumably for primary-school-age children.
[1] I have no idea why you are trying to concoct 'notability' for a thirteen-or-fourteen-year-old busker, but it seems grossly inappropriate to me, given the questionable sourcing, the lack of evidence that the events he competed in are of any real significance, and the obvious privacy concerns in revealing personal details about a minor.

Either SNG or GNG has to be met per our

PRS Guitars is one of the three major guitar manufacturing companies in the U.S. and in 2023 they named Noah Robertson as one of their artists. It is a big deal especially for someone so young. When I added the information, the nominator erased it twice calling it "promotional". And now the nominator threatens me with ANI if I restore it. So I have to leave now to avoid this unnecessary drama. Here is more drama about this subject.

Delete: I'm not sure winning junior music competitions are what we're looking for... "Congratulations to our Year 7 student Noah Robertson who won first place in the ... guitar gift pack and $500 Colemans Music voucher." This is not notable. I mean, the article has sourcing but winning a guitar and 500 bucks isn't what gets you a wikipedia article.

Delete. The
WP:GNG provisions on sourcing are subject to a second test: whether the subject warrants a standalone page. A few policies bear on this to say no: (1)
WP:BLP1E. The article uses newspaper sources to describe as notable for winning a (non-notable) busking competition, but since that's the limit of his notability (at the moment), that's one event and he should not have a page here. (2) The busking competition would fall under
WP:NEVENTS, which appears to be covered in "the brief, often light and amusing (for example bear-in-a-tree or local-person-wins-award), stories that frequently appear in the back pages of newspapers" per
WP:ROUTINE. It's not notable, and even if it were, the notability does not transfer to its winner. And (3) we would want to rely on more than human interest reporting per
WP:NEWSORG, which states that "[h]uman interest reporting is generally not as reliable as news reporting, and may not be subject to the same rigorous standards of fact-checking and accuracy." Bottom line: The subject may become notable in the future, but under these policies he is not right now.

Keep per
WP:NMUSIC.
WP:NMUSIC states "Musicians ... may be notable if they meet at least one of the following criteria." Otherwize clearly meets 3 of the criteria: #1, #7, and #9.
1. He has been featured in multiple documentaries (Where We're From and Freestyle: The Art of Rhyme), books (The Come Up, The Way I Am, King Khule, Born a Villain), and articles (HipHopDX, etc.). His prominence in the documentaries have nothing to do with Eminem, so they are not inherited notability.
7. In Where We're From, Otherwize is cited as the most prominent battle rapper in his region (LA) during this era. That has nothing to do with Eminem, so it's not inherited notability.
9. Otherwize won 1st Place and 3rd Place in major national music competitions (Rap Olympics '97 and Scribble Jam '99). Granted, one of those was defeating Eminem, but the other one was not, and they are still placings in national music competitions regardless of who he defeated. So this is not inherited notability.
He is also part of a notable crew called Project Blowed, which is also a subject of documentaries (This is the Life and Hip-Hop Evolution). He featured on the important Los Angeles underground albums Beneath the Surface and Cater to the DJ.

Article is quite old, band seems to be long-since defunct. No real evidence of meeting
WP:MUSIC. No hits, no awards, no label, etc. None of the links are archived on archive.org, two are just listings on the programme for a festival. The BBC interview is the most promising but an interview alone wouldn't support an article, and looking at the URL it seems like it was actually a promotional listing for that same festival, rather than a journalistic interview. Googling around it seems to mostly be Wikipedia mirrors at this point.

is a notable figure in the field of music, particularly recognized for being the first Iranian conductor to hold a doctoral degree. His contributions to the music industry are significant and well-documented. Here are key points highlighting his notability and accomplishments:
Academic Achievements: Mehran Tebyani holds a doctoral degree, making him the first Iranian conductor to achieve this level of academic success in the field.
Publications: He has published a book in Iran, which contributes to his recognition as a scholar and expert in music.
Media Coverage: Tebyani has been interviewed by numerous newspapers in Iran, demonstrating his influence and prominence in the Iranian music scene.
Radio Sessions: During his time in Los Angeles, he hosted a radio session dedicated to the history of music for one year, further showcasing his expertise and commitment to educating the public about music.
Concerts and Performances: He has conducted several concerts at UCLA in Los Angeles, adding to his international recognition and illustrating his active involvement in the music community.
Article created by user with COI. Immediately PRODed, but unPRODed by same user with no explanation. BLP has many "citation needed" tags and the only two citations present do not appear to be independent and reliable. Subject shows no notability.

Non-notable band. Article was moved from draft space and I originally returned it. After examining the article I noticed that it claim the band started 6 December 2023. However, the the only reference was published 2 February 2021. This was at least 17 months before auditions started. In addition the reference seemed to be about three young women and not twelve young men. The article provides no references for a band that has only released two singles and was created by a non-notable reality show,

This is an AfD discussion. One where notability is demonstrated through significant coverage in independent sources. Which doesn't include guitar company websites plugging their own products.

Dclemens1971. I also want to say that I resent Lightburst's preemptive strike above against "the fairness of the AfD result" and against commenters here as potentially "unorganic". Why couldn't people just as well have their attention drawn by WPO and/or ANI and then vote Keep? Way to assume bad faith.

Agreed, it seems that WPO has a bit of a broad audience and I don't think one could take a casual comment by a user of that website that they had started an AfD as an invitation to only those that would vote delete. TarnishedPathtalk10:59, 10 July 2024 (UTC)reply

Keep per

WP:NMUSIC guidelines as a solo artist while he (and the group) is only known for his association with 2Pac, and I don't see him getting any more notable as his career was so short and he is long deceased. Since this is its third trip to AfD, perhaps a salting is also in order.

The article provides no references for a band that has only released two singles and was created by a non-notable reality show,
789 SURVIVAL.

Contested PROD. The sources do not demonstrate notability under
WP:GNG,

WP:USERGENERATED list of MP3 files, the second source has a single
WP:TRIVIALMENTION of the subject, and the third fails verification entirely, referencing an entirely different individual with the patronym "Qalinle.") Edited to add: an editor has added a reference to Somali Culture and Folklore, pages 63-64. I do not believe this is a valid reference; the book itself is 64 pages and according to Google Books pages
63 and
