Web citations

Recently, I remember seeing that someone had commented to you about using the "Work" versus the "Publisher" field when writing web citations. I don't remember where it was, and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Do you remember which one we were supposed to use for web citations from sites like IGN and GameSpot? — OranL ( talk) 16:28, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Addition of Nicole to Characters of Halo FT?

Hey, if you look back to the Characters of Halo FT nom, you'll recall that the nom ultimately failed to include Nicole (Dead or Alive) because at that time she was not properly integrated into Characters of Halo or Template:Halo characters. Well, as I know you're aware, she's now integrated, and has been for over a month. I think we should bring a nom to add her to the topic; in fact, I feel that now she is integrated properly, not including her would cause the topic to fail criterion 1.d), as I think she constitutes an obvious gap. Thoughts? rst20xx ( talk) 14:21, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

GA and FA Taskforce

(message from WP:VG)

Okay I just made a cabal that was created to focus on one article at a time and then the entire cabal would have helped to get that article to at least GA status(or even FA). So I then requested the cabal to be deleted after a long talk about it and so i then had a conversation with Keeper 76 and xeno about the cabal after the deletion. Afterwords, xeno suggested a GA FA taskforce in WP:VG that would do the same thing my cabal would have done. So now i come before the grand court known as WP:VG to suggest a GA FA taskforce. My taskforce will pick one article at a time to build, move to another and and build that one. This would give WP:VG many more GA and FA. Consider my proposal. Conan

Are you supporting or opposing this FAC? I see some comments but you don't seem to have taken a stand on it. It's gotten surprisingly little feedback compared to some other VG candidates. -- Laser brain (talk) 22:47, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Just a friendly suggestion...

Are you going to be merging the remaining Myst articles that aren't going to be in the featured topic your building before your nominate the topic? I think that would be a good idea :) That way, no gaps, no other articles floating around in the ether. Just thought I should mention it. Judgesurreal777 ( talk) 04:15, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

UNSC article

Hey David. I've updated the UNSC section with information from the recent interview. Chances are there might be some more content from Bungie on its way regarding the UNSC. So, perhaps we should consider creating a separate UNSC article where we could expand the information? The section on Factions of Halo is already becoming a bit over-flowery. Halopedia's article is very unstable, and a lot of it is unsourced and unverified - some of it being just plain speculation. We need an article where trusty UNSC information can be added. Hope you will consider this, and maybe you could run it by the WP:HALO community. Thank you. -- UNSC Trooper ( talk) 12:53, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Ah, okay. I didn't think of the popular reception until now. I guess it's alright as it is, then. We might add additional info once The Cole Protocol comes out and other interviews are announced. Oh and by the way, shouldn't the other sections of the article have pictures too; like the Flood and the Covenant? -- UNSC Trooper ( talk) 14:34, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Oh yeah, I forgot those sections had separate articles. What was I thinking? :P Oh and I just got a crazy idea. Maybe we could have a "Minor Factions" section where we could include the rebels? I don't know how efficient that would be, but it's an idea. -- UNSC Trooper ( talk) 14:56, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
I was referring to the Eridanus Rebels, the Insurrectionists, the Secessionist Union , and the United Rebel Front. The introduction to the UNSC section isn't large enough to expand on those factions. We could mention them in the introduction, but I think they do deserve a little description from what is known. -- UNSC Trooper ( talk) 15:38, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, you have a point. Mentioning them in the UNSC section should so, I guess. -- UNSC Trooper ( talk) 16:25, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Spirit Airlines

Would you please consider unprotecting the Spirit Airlines article as it seems at this point to be no more prone to Vandalism than any of the other articles in the Airlines project. Your original reasoning, which appears to be related to edits made last year between Sox23 and Diemachr, is long outdated and that argument extinguished for some time now. If it is not your block which is currently in effect and you have recieved this message in error then please pass it on to whomever it would concern at this point in time. Fable (video game) Article

The Editor's Barnstar
I hereby award you The Editor's Barnstar for doing a good job in cleaning up the Fable (video game) article! SilentAria talk 09:08, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

I just saw the work you did on the Fable (video game) article, and I just wanted to let you know how happy I am that someone finally managed to clean it up! I tried my best to do it myself, but there was just so much stuff in it that I honestly didn't know where to start. I think I might have actually messed it up a bit more, but thank goodness you came along to fix it! Thank you so much, and keep up the good work! :D -- SilentAria talk 09:08, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Haha, I actually wish I was better at editing video game articles, so it isn't that sad. XD I actually have a pretty good screenshot of the Hero using a Will skill on multiple enemies; it's just that I didn't know where to put it in the article since I thought that the melee battle one was sufficient enough. I uploaded the screenshot here so you can take a look and see if it's suitable for the article before I go and upload it here. Oh, and that good Hero in the image is actually maxed out on the goodness scale, but I don't have a shot of him with the halo and butterflies; I think they only appear when the Hero stands still for a long time and the camera's zoomed out. I'd take another screenshot, but my computer's been having problems running 3D games, so I can't. I'll try to look around the internet and see if I can find a better image. :) -- SilentAria talk 08:23, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

I can't find any more sources online for Ghosts of Onyx (I just realised that its acronym is goo), I doubt that there would be any offline except perhaps The Halo Effect book. I'm going put it up for GAC but I thought I'd check with you first in case you have any links to sources that you never got around to including or anything like that. Cheers, James086 Talk | Email 13:56, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I'm currently improving the Final Fantasy VII article, and I've been following your idea of summarising development in the lead. Addressing LTTP directly, especially with comments to the effect that he doesn't care about policy and isn't listening etc., isn't productive or helpful. It only inflames things and obscures useful debate. - A Man In Bl♟ck ( conspire | past ops) 02:00, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs ( talk) 02:13, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Even then, he'd have to find proof of editorial oversight for the three different "eras" covered under the entire episode listing. There's the independent youtube released ones, the screwattack hosting ones, the "provided as feed to gametrailers via screwattack" ones, and then the ones as an employee of gametrailers. My thoughts are, the only ones he may be able to find a relevant editorial policy for are the ones produced as a direct employee of GameTrailers/Mtv. Glad the PR was useful. I guess I would be OK being interviewed. My two fears are that a) there are a lot of people who do peer reviews and I don't want to make it seem like I am the only one, or am trying to take too much credit and b) that tons more people will submit PR requests, further inundating the system ;-) Ruhrfisch ><>°° 18:01, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, was reviewing other articles from our 200+ article review backlog yesterday so I didn't get back to you.

On the characters section, the normal minimum is about one full paragraph per character. (If there isn't that much to say about them, they probably aren't a major character to begin with.) I'm fine with not having text citations for the plot/character sections, since verifiability on that is met by just having a general reference to the book. -- erachima talk 19:16, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your support at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Bone Wars. I'm afraid that while I'm a big dinosaur nut, I pale in comparison to the guys at WP:DINO (which is why I haven't actually gone at any real dinosaur article improvement and just tangental histories.) As for the citation method (I guess I just kinda made it up for Chicxulub Crater), what is the "standard" form you use? Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs ( talk) 11:40, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi David! :)
You know, you've done great work at Chicxulub Crater and at Bone Sharps... and now Bone Wars. They're really quite wonderful articles. Anyway, the taxonomy articles all use a direct reference method (See Stegosaurus#Footnotes for details) instead of citing the work and page number with a list of full references. I'm not actually advocating that you switch at this point (would be silly, and honestly, any citation style should work). Firsfron of Ronchester 13:43, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Jena Six

An editor is raising a concern about Image:Baisden-and-Sharpton.jpg on the Jena Six FAC because even though it has a proper OTRS license, the image doesn't give its source info. Questionable Content editing

Hi,

I noticed you deleted the following section for violating WP:OR --

Jacques occasionally invites other webcomic creators to do stand-alone strips for QC. The guest comics count towards the total amount of strips on the QC website, but do not seem to be considered canonical, since none of the events in the guest strips are ever referred to again when Jacques resumes authorship. Jacques also breaks from normal continuity every American Thanksgiving with an "OMG Turkeys" strip, featuring pictures of turkeys commenting on the current events of the strip. When Jeph is sick, he breaks continuity with a Yelling Bird, explaining what he's got and a quick joke. The joke is usually at his expense. Later, a female character has been used instead of the Yelling Bird strip. Jeph has said citation needed that she could be included among the normal characters.

I think most of this could be kept in (from "The joke is usually as his expense" to the end of the paragraph could go, as it's not very encyclopaedic or notable anyway), maybe adding two footnotes with examples of Thanksgiving comics and Yelling Bird comics, respectively. The fact that those strips exist is verifiable and not really OR (analyzing them in depth would be OR, but just mentioning that they're there is not, as far as I can tell), and is the kind of information that might be nice to have in the article.

Let me know what you think! -- Politizer ( talk) 22:54, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi David. I have struck all my previous questions but have raised new ones. Please take a look. If you are looking for a copyeditor, might I recommend User:EyeSerene and User:AnnaFrance, both of whom I have excellent experiences with. Jappalang ( talk) 00:03, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Yo! I think everything save prose (which is also kinda a weak point for me) looks great. I am holding off a judgment until Nishkid64 confirms there are no new sources (with substantial information) to be added though. Jappalang ( talk) 01:02, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
Are Williston, Reed, Carlin, and Lakes in Image:OCmarsh.jpg? Jappalang ( talk) 01:05, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

I found the photo in question here on the Peabody's Museum's site. That should help you in your inquiries to the museum. The additional information regarding the photo can also be used for the image's page itself. Jappalang ( talk) 22:40, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Do you think that it's okay if I bring an "indefinitely postponed" article to FA? It's GA and not listed as "Future-class", and I'd like to get it to FA. Thoughts? Gary King ( talk) 04:12, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Bone Wars

I will probably add stuff, but I don't think I can do it within the next few days. I'm confident that my concerns will probably be addressed by the conclusion of the FAC. If not, I'll be expanding the article myself later on, if that's alright with you. Nishkid64 ( Make articles, not wikidrama) 19:20, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

You done with needing replies from me? If so, I'll take it off my watchlist. Also, I finished up what you dropped on me about Stigand. (grins) Yeah, I know, get back to sourcing issues. Ealdgyth - Talk 20:03, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Majorly's RfC

Dave, could you elaborate on what you are endorsing here? Is it Anthony's comment?--- Balloonman PoppaBalloon 02:50, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi, David. I came to ask the same thing, and about your endorsement of east's statement as well. Just for clarification, as you are surely free to endorse whoever you agree with. Jennavecia (Talk) 04:35, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

The block of BehnamFarid

What, in your opinion, would be extreme incivility worthy of action? I kinda feel with Behnam we locked away a murderer on charges of tax evasion. By the end of my interaction with him, I was kind of treating him like the insane uncle at a family reunion that everyone ignores except to clean the drool off his face. Re: Cites and such

RfA thanks

Thank you for voting in my RfA, which did not succeed with 47 support, 21 oppose, and 1 neutral. I appreciate both the supports and the opposes. Thanks again and cheers! TNX- Man 18:32, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Jena Six

An editor is raising a concern about Image:Baisden-and-Sharpton.jpg on the Jena Six FAC because even though it has a proper OTRS license, the image doesn't give its source info. Do you think there's anything you could do to remedy this, or if it is an unjustified concern, could you post a note to that effect?-- Wehwalt ( talk) 18:59, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi there,

Thank you for your comments on the Harry Potter peer review, located at Wikipedia:Peer review/Harry Potter/archive3 - I've been through the list and I think that I have completed all of the points, so I ask that you look at the article again, if there are any more problem with it.

Thanks again,
