Welcome to
WikiProject Women in Red (WiR)!
Our objective is to turn red links into blue ones. Our project's scope is women's representation on all language Wikipedias (biographies, women's works, women's issues, broadly construed). Did you know that, according to
Humaniki, only 19.81% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women? Not impressed?
Content gender gap is a form of
systemic bias, and this is what WiR addresses. We invite you to participate, whenever you like, in whatever way suits you and your schedule. Editors of all genders are equally and warmly welcome at Women in Red!
Authority control should be included at the foot of every biography: {{Authority control}}. It will remain hidden until relevant identifiers have been added to Wikidata.

If applicable, add stub template at the foot of an article: {{stub}}.
Each year Women in Red chooses a theme to run throughout the year. Education was chosen by editors as the theme for 2024. In addition to teachers, educators, administrators and researchers, the topic can also cover schools founded by women, schools for girls and women, and notable women alumni. You are also welcome to write about significant awards for women in education and the books they have written.
This virtual edit-a-thon allows enthusiasts from around the globe to participate in the work. There is a Competition for the first editor to create 24 new "start" articles about a women (not from US/UK). The article must have 1500 characters of original text, 3 references and do try and add a pic. When you add it to New Articles below then can you add your name and number created so far? e.g. Marie Curie Wikieditor666 #1. The prize is a tee shirt and a barnstar mailed to any address.
What else?
The lists of redlinks should provide inspiration.
There is a section where you can list the articles you create this month, and another section where you can add the images you uploaded to Commons.
