Hi RomanDeckert,
I saw your work on articles related to Africa and wanted to say hello, as I work in the topic area too. If you haven't already, you might want to watch the WikiProject Africa talk page, which is a noticeboard for Wikipedia's Africa coverage. It's a great place to ask questions, collaborate, discuss style/structure precedent, and stay informed about Africa-related content. Take a look for yourself!
And if you're looking for other juicy places to edit, consider adopting a cleanup category or participating in one of our current formal discussions.
Feel free to say hi on my talk page and let me know if these links were helpful (or at least interesting). Welcome to Wikipedia! Hope to see you around. czar 23:22, 11 February 2018 (UTC)
Hi,
I see you are a great expert of Sudan. Have you ever met former Prime Minister Babiker Awadalla? He appears to be still alive at 101, but some sources report he lives in Dublin with his son, some other he lives in Alexandria with his whole family. Reports on him seem to be contradictory and in September 2016 an obituary for him was published, probably prematurely. Do you know something more? Thanks in advance, -- Folengo ( talk) 17:33, 22 June 2018 (UTC)

Hello, I saw that you are very active concerning the topic Greeks in Sudan and that you apparently reside in Khartoum, seing that you uploaded a photo from the SNM. I am working on a topic that will probably also interest you: the kingdom of Alodia, which had been Christianized in the 6th century and showed strong Byzantine influences. There are a few archaeological pieces in the SNM which I would gladly use for the article, but I would need someone to make photos of them. They are probably not exhibited, so one would have to ask if one can access them. If you are interested let me know and I will send you more details. Hi Roman, at User_talk:Onceinawhile#Pictures... we are trying to locate some 19th century paintings of Southern Lebanon. Two that I am stuck on are here:
Any chance you recognise these specific locations? Onceinawhile ( talk) 08:40, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
We found another fascinating lost monument in Southern Lebanon, called by Ernest Renan "the most striking ruin in the whole country". It is at 33°06′53″N 35°17′26″E / 33.114823°N 35.290613°E, equidistant between Marwahin and Ramyah. Lots of detail on it at the PEF Survey here. But nothing on the internet in modern times. Onceinawhile ( talk) 08:15, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
I just remembered the third topic. See User_talk:Onceinawhile#Mission_de_Phénicie. Two years ago you took this photo. Well it turns out that Renan found a world-class mosaic nearby, which is now in the Louvre – the main attraction of Room 186. The question for Dr Badawi is exactly where was this mosaic found – presumably there are still visible ruins of the “Church of St Christopher”. Onceinawhile ( talk) 22:26, 2 November 2021 (UTC)
FYI I wrote these two articles:
They are both mysteries. Regarding Belat temple, it seems noone has published a photo of the place for almost 150 years. Onceinawhile ( talk) 13:53, 25 February 2023 (UTC)

On 10 February 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Marguerite Gautier-van Berchem, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Swiss archaeologist Marguerite Gautier-van Berchem created a service for the International Committee of the Red Cross to help prisoners of war from the French colonies during World War II? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Marguerite Gautier-van Berchem. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page ( here's how, Marguerite Gautier-van Berchem), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Greetings and felicitations. After nearly four years, I finally returned to " Tyre" and your comment. I just fixed the image placement again, but there's another small problem—Youssef Mroue's book, which you introduced in this edit. I can't find any mention of the book other than in copies of the article in question, and the lack of a publisher is causing an error. I'm wondering what the publisher is, as well as the ISBN, and, if possible, the WorldCat ID. If the book is not in English, the title in the original language and the language itself would also be very helpful, please. (I do realize that the edit is nearly four and half years old, and you may no longer have any record or recollection of the book.) — DocWatson42 ( talk) 10:13, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

RomanDeckert, you have been pinged several times from the review page of your GA nomination, and the latest comment there is that the reviewer will be closing the review later today (UTC) if you don't respond before then. Best of luck. BlueMoonset ( talk) 05:13, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
The article
Marguerite Gautier-van Berchem you nominated as a

Dear RomanDeckert, I was really lifted by your thanking me for my Rashidieh edit in January. I was at the beginning of a project of working through the twenty plus years of ‘Middle East International’ that I have on my shelves. To give evidence of the validity of this source I started an article about MEI which has now been moved to Draft:Middle East International. Can you advise me? I am posting a similar message to editor al Ameer son who also thanked me for an edit I did using the same source editing the Kisrawan article. Many thanks. An article you recently created,
Monika Borgmann, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from
reliable,
independent sources. (
?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (
verifiability is of
central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to
draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's
general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.

Hi RomanDeckert, I see that you uploaded File:FrankGarbely ByRomanDeckert18102022.jpg as part of writing Frank Garbely and claimed the image as your own work. Can you clarify whether you have any external connection with Garbely that would constitute a conflict of interest? signed, Rosguill talk 20:13, 27 November 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for your contributions for the photographs of graves of figures in Liechtenstein. I am sure you have helped many others too, but it means a lot to me as it boosted the quality of the articles and even allowed for some information I was previously unaware of to be found. Keep up the good work. TheBritinator ( talk) 15:33, 30 January 2024 (UTC) |
