Wikipedia:Did you know/Statistics contains archives of DYK hooks along with the number of views they received on their DYK date; all DYK articles, particularly articles aired after 2015-07-01, are eligible to be listed in
the table for the current month, and an article that was clicked over 20,000 times is eligible to be listed in among the
all-time leaders. (For further details on the DYKSTATS rules, see
WP:DYKSTATS#Rules.)
Here is how to check how many times your hook was clicked:
Wait at least 24 hours. Pageview stats are not collected on the server until the day after the article was featured.
Go to your article and open the "history" tab.
From the history tab, click "Page view statistics" (on the right, below the search bars).
Alternatively you can use
ErrantX's
DYKStats tool which will calculate the statistics for you.
A chart will appear, by default showing the last 20 days of data. If there was a large spike in views, the tool will automatically show the data using a
logarithmic scale, so that smaller fluctuations in the data can be made visible. You can toggle the log scale by clicking the "Logarithmic scale" checkbox on the top-right. With it turned off, you will usually see a visible spike for the day on which your article was on the main page.
The views are counted and summed for all articles which were bolded (not merely linked) in the hook. If one or more bolded articles were moved while on the main page, add views for the main article(s) and the redirect page(s).
Some articles draw additional views unrelated to DYK. Those views are removed by subtracting a half sum on the days before and after, that is VX − (VX−1 + VX+1) / 2. Example
[1] VX=18,400; VX−1=4,400; VX+1=2,000; total=18,400−(4,400+2,000)/2=15,200.
If after subtracting background views you're over 5,000, you can go to
WP:DYKSTATS and add your article to the table in the appropriate month's section!
