Shahpurabad ( Persian: شاهپوراباد) [a] is a city in, and the capital of, Borborud-e Gharbi District of Aligudarz County, Lorestan province, Iran. [4] It was previously the capital of Borborud-e Gharbi Rural District [5] before the capital was transferred to the village of Zazam. [6]
At the 2006 census, its population was 1,364 in 276 households, when it was a village in Borborud-e Gharbi Rural District of the Central District. [7] The following census in 2011 counted 1,593 people in 400 households. [8] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 1,522 people in 404 households, by which time the rural district had separated from the district in the establishment of Borborud-e Gharbi District. It was the most populous village in its rural district. [2]
After the census, the village was elevated to the status of a city. [4]
