Pervomaysky District ( Russian: Первома́йский райо́н) is an administrative [1] and municipal [4] district ( raion), one of the fifty-nine in Altai Krai, Russia. It is located in the northeast of the krai. The area of the district is 3,616 square kilometers (1,396 sq mi). [2] Its administrative center is the town of Novoaltaysk (which is not administratively a part of the district). [1] Population: 50,100 ( 2010 Russian census); [3] 47,467 ( 2002 Census); [6] 45,484 ( 1989 Soviet census). [7]
Within the framework of administrative divisions, Pervomaysky District is one of the fifty-nine in the krai. [1] The town of Novoaltaysk serves as its administrative center, despite being incorporated separately as a town of krai significance—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts. [1]
As a municipal division, the district is incorporated as Pervomaysky Municipal District. [4] The town of krai significance of Novoaltaysk is incorporated separately from the district as Novoaltaysk Urban Okrug. [8]
