Shipunovsky District ( Russian: Шипуно́вский райо́н) is an administrative [1] and municipal [3] district ( raion), one of the fifty-nine in Altai Krai, Russia. It is located in the center of the krai. The area of the district is 4,130 square kilometers (1,590 sq mi).[ citation needed] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Shipunovo. [1] Population: 33,285 ( 2010 Russian census); [2] 36,299 ( 2002 Census); [5] 36,810 ( 1989 Soviet census). [6] The population of the administrative center accounts for 36.4% of the district's total population. [2]
