Doesn't seem to be much on this. No discussion of rising popularity in male-dominated internet fashion communities (see google trends for some information/reflection, or visit some of these sites.) such as Hypebeast, Reddit's Malefashionadvice, Ask Andy, Styleforum, Superfuture, Stylezeitgeist, as well as general rising male interest in fashion as well- particularly on tumblr and twitter (hashtags like #streetwear and #menswear are popular.)
Also a lack of information on the expensive/"designer", hype-driven brands popular on the internet such as Common Projects shoes and Temple of Jawnz leather jackets — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bbmtourne ( talk • contribs) 08:29, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

Dear everybody,
Join us in taking fashion to Wikipedia on Friday the 22nd of March, when there there will be an edit-a-thon in Stockholm, Sweden with fashion as its theme! As you know currently the fashion coverage in Wikipedia is rather limited and we would like to help changing that.
For this event we have received an image donation with hundreds of pictures from the Nordic Museum and also a first donation of eight pictures from ModeMuseum (Antwerpen), and during the edit-a-thon in Stockholm we will create and expand fashion articles in both Swedish and English by using the fashion pictures uploaded from the museums. Please see here for the categories: Commons:Category:Projekt: Mode och dräkthistoria and Commons:Category:Images from MoMu - Fashion Museum Province of Antwerp.
We would love your help with connecting the pictures to suitable articles (either existing or new ones) in preparation for the event so that the participants – student and GLAM experts without much prior knowledge of Wikipedia editing – can get started easier and focus on writing! You can help out by adding pictures and suggested articles here.
Besides improving Wikipedia's fashion coverage, we hope to show GLAMs just how productive an event like this can be and how much their images will be used. This will hopefully increase their interest in making more and larger image donations in the future! You can all really make a difference by adding the images to suitable articles and expanding the texts! If you cannot be present at the Nordic museum we invite you to participate online during the event. Lets show the GLAMs, experts and newbies the power of our international movement and how fun it can be to contribute to free knowledge!
The Stockholm fashion event is organized by Europeana Fashion, Europeana, Stockholm University, the Nordic Museum and Wikimedia Sweden.
I hope that you will join in!
Best,

The article Business casual turned up in Category:Stubs but I noticed that it's been gradually diminished by several different editors (some IPs and vandalism reverts, but not all) from a peak size of 5.7k to about 10% of that, with removal of sourced content. It's now an unsourced single sentence with an unsourced image which I've got doubts about (is a sleeveless top really acceptable as "business casual" for women?) Are Capri pants a specific style of pant, or is that one of several names for three quarter pants? It strikes me that perhaps the former page should be merged to the latter, which is currently a short stub. But people with more specialized knowledge may have other ideas. Cnilep ( talk) 03:24, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
Capris are pretty specific. To me, three-quarter pants simply means any style of trouser that is that length - so a pair of gaucho pants (which for some reason redirects to Trousers which doesn't even mention them...) or culottes, or even cut-off jeans, they are all three-quarter. Capris to me describe a tight-fitting or at least slim-fitted pair of pants, something worn by Audrey Hepburn on a bicycle... So no to the redirect there, but maybe redirect to Trousers. (And having noticed it, a standalone article for gaucho pants might be appropriate...) Mabalu ( talk) 11:13, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi, Would it be possible to get help with editing this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardy_Amies ? I am a member of the company and therefore not deemed a reliable source. I need to add a section regarding the new store opening at no.8 Savile Row. There are numerous articles online (secondary sources); http://www.telegraph.co.uk/luxury/mens-style/45158/hardy-amies-new-flagship-store.html http://www.drapersonline.com/news/hardy-amies-opens-new-savile-row-store/5064069.article#.VBhFGfldWAU http://therakeonline.com/uncategorized/hardy-amies-opens-at-no-8/
Would the factual information from these articles be deemed reliable enough to be used underneath a new heading named 'No.8 Savile Row' on the Hardy Amies Ltd page? Also, is it possible to remove information? As there is a lot of Sir Edwin Hardy Amies' history which seems to be directly copied from this page; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edwin_Hardy_Amies which isn't really relevant to the brand.

Bikini, one of the oldest articles of this project has gone into a peer review here. It was created on Novemeber 1, 2001, One day after Japan. That was before Abraham Lincoln (Nov 4), France (Nov 4) and California (Nov 17) were created on Wikipedia. (courtesy: TonyTheTiger) It also is a highly viewed article. If you search for Bikini using google the first return is this article. Page visitation reached its highest in 2011, and the highest number of visitors come from India, Mexico and Spain.
A lot of work has gone into the article. It kept expanding and eventually three new spin-off articles were created - History of the bikini (a good article), Bikini in popular culture and Bikini variants. The popular culture article split its own spin-offs into Category:Individual bikinis. The variants article in turn split into specific articles for Monokini and Tankini. Work has gone into other related article as well, like Thong (clothing) and Bikini waxing.
The review is not a success because of low participation. Can you participate, please? Aditya( talk • contribs) 21:10, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi all,
My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.
One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.
This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:
• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film
• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.
• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.
• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____
• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost
The deadline for submissions is 1st July 2014
For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to:

Wallpaper group is an article written by mathematicians but this can explain a lot in fashion. To summarize the article, there is a classification of patterns which, if applied, can put any pattern into 1 of 17 categories.
I would be interested to learn if any research has ever been done to track cultural preferences for textile prints and weaves using any of these wallpaper groups in preference to others, and if this model gives insight to historical migration of fashion tastes or explains current trends.
Right now seemingly no fashion articles link to this article. Blue Rasberry (talk) 12:47, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

I just came across this article via speedy deletion and the rationale was that it didn't expand on Arab_culture#Dress. I think that this has the potential to merit a page outside of the main article, so I've declined the speedy and just turned it into a redirect. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help expand it? Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:05, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

If the aim of the template is to identify articles within the scope of topic for purposes of organizing and improving WP:FASHION, it would be appropriate to include, yes? There's significant potential for the list to grow to a substantial size, but that could enhance its utility as the project itself scales up. Fashionethics ( talk) 00:50, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

I just prodded it; ping User:Bejnar, User:Kges1901 and User:DGG who commented on this in the past. I tried looking for a single independent source that discusses this company, but I can't see anything reliable. GBooks has nothing. GNews is spammed by articles published by them, but after few pages it peters out into non-relevant articles by others. I couldn't even find a single mention of the company in passing. Alan Carncross has nearly five-thousand inventions, patents, copyrights and never been thought about before, ideas. From the first Small Folding Umbrella, which was made from Strong Lightweight Duralumin - which her Majesty The Queen had. - Also patented Stiletto-Heels - Also 'Safety-Catches for Jewelry' and 'Magneto-Striction Coils' Leading To Hospitals-Ultra-Scans etc etc etc etc All came from Alan - merely altering a 'Battered Old Camera', which became a "Photon Catching Camera". That Old Camera was a 'Spring-Wound-Movie Camera' from the 1920's. It cost only £5. It helped to create all those nearly 5,000 inventions -- from captured, entirely-free, "Photon-Intelligence Insights". Four German Computers, then split ordinary entirely-free-light into separate Rainbow-frequencies, which could be individually removed, to reveal, probably never been seen before, "intelligent-Photon- frequencies".
Intelligence frequencies can be modified with what Alan (for many decades) has called "Future-Time" - instead of using the usual "Past-Time" which Schools unfortunately constantly teach - - Those Photons and the information they accidentally (or purposely carry ) are instantly entering human brains,. Accidental Mentally Conditioned Photons, are probably the reason, why many inventors (like Alan) say that they simply found the idea in their head without any previous conscious thoughts about their new invention or idea they have had. near Five-Thousand, easy never been though about before ideas should prove that Photon proposition.
After all. Our Ancient Uneducated Ancestors Lived In Damp Caves or on Stonehenge. They had to start a mental progression to our present modern world. THEY ONLY HAD LIGHT ---- THEY DIDN'T HAVE SCHOOLS, INSTRUCTIONS, BOOKS, OR UNIVERSITIES ALAN CARNCROSS is STILL INVENTING FROM BETWEEN 3-0 am AND 5-0 a-m every morning even when now fast approaching a 100 years old. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.48.209.220 ( talk) 09:05, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

Since the only one that I have attempted to create has een redirected, can someone remind me of what the standards are for articles to be created for Category:Individual dresses. I am thinking about Emily Ratajkowski's August 2011 dress, which got the following coverage:
I would also argue that if the content of an article can be condensed into two or three sentences, or a paragraph, then it is probably better off in a general article on that year's red carpet fashions (I have fallen behind on these...); or as a section in the designer's or wearer's article, even if there are sufficent good quality sources to make it a candidate for a standalone article. We need to make sure that such articles are incredibly solid and well-covered. I think this is a very relevant AFD for an article that really pushed the boundaries of how much coverage was sufficient to qualify a standalone article. Mabalu ( talk) 16:10, 6 June 2016 (UTC)

Hey fashion folks! I'm used to counter-vandalism on WP but still a novice at restructuring articles. I stumbled across List of headgear and the structure of the page seemed odd. I understand that a standard textual list wouldn't be appropriate for this type of content, but the gallery felt a bit overwhelming. Also, the method in which the hats were grouped felt a bit strange, and the article is awfully large, maybe a couple splits are in order? Anywho, I'm all about WP:SOFIXIT but before I start tearing it apart, I kinda wanted to get some feedback from y'all first, as I'm woefully inept at fashion ^_^ Your feedback is more than appreciated! Hi, I have written Franzi page, but i see some issues. I want to understand what can i do :) For example i say that Franzi is one of the oldest italian brand in the luxury leather goods, because it was founded in 1864 and I know that Prada is from 1913, Gucci is fom 1921, Fontana milano is from 1915, Fendi is from 1925, Ferragamo is from 1927, Bottega Veneta is from 1966.. I know there are no sources that say the cronological order of the foundation of all the italian company to mention as a source, but it is an obvious deduction from the facts. Even more if we think that Guccio Gucci itself was an employee of Franzi. But since I'm new at wikipedia i want to understand if I went wrong using this deduction system and if yes, what can i do to do the things in the right way. A true thanks :) -- Carlo ch ( talk) 14:15, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

(see the
help page). It's hard to tell if this company has received "significant coverage" from "reliable sources" that are "independent" of the subject, as such coverage is likely in newspapers and other material that is either not online or paywalled, if it exists at all.
Does anyone recognize this company's name? Does anyone know enough about the company to say "yeah, the company is notable, but it will take a trip to a library or a subscription to an online source to find good sources?"
If the answer is "no" then I'll probably send it to AFD.

)and turns it into something like
It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{ cite web}}, {{ cite journal}} and {{ doi}}.
The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.
Do note that this is not a script to be mindlessly used, and several caveats apply. Details and instructions are available at User:Headbomb/unreliable. Questions, comments and requests can be made at User talk:Headbomb/unreliable.

Generally, in the U.S., clothing cannot be copyrighted as it is a useful article. That was a blanket general rule that applied to all aspects of clothing until the U.S. Supreme Court decided Star Athletica, LLC v. Varsity Brands, Inc. a couple of years ago, in which it held that purely aesthetic aspects of clothing can be copyrighted as long as their function can be found to be entirely separate from the functions that make clothing useful and can be art separate from the clothing it's on.
The EU enacted copyright protection for fashion a few years ago but not many manufacturers have taken the time to register their clothing.
Of course, having read this far, you'll feel you've wasted your time since I'm about to tell you that this doesn't matter. Assuming the Dior dresses you photographed are old enough, like from the last century, they predate any copyright protection and thus photos of them would be free images as long as you, the photographer, publish them that way (which of course you would have to at Commons). The internet as a whole has absolutely fantastic blog entries ( sample) about how this cuttingly intelligent but physically still-a-frickin'-14-year-old girl accidentally opened the part of Pandora's box that had been holding back high heels while trying to impress her older royal never-met-before husband-to-be and to intimidate his known-to-be-gorgeous mistress(es). Somehow that is what stuck from the era—not the foot-long pointed toes or foot-wide flippers—and, after spending an amusing interlude causing royalist cavalrymen to fall over a lot, became the women's footwear we all know and loave today.
Thing is, our Catherine de' Medici article doesn't mention her involvement in popularizing heels at all. Not in the (lengthy) article. Not anywhere in the (lengthy) talk page with no archives. I assume that means there's some solid reason to doubt the current internet lore but it's widespread enough across blogs, newspaper articles, and some histories of footwear and fashion that it's actually worth including a paragraph in the article even if it's wrong just to clearly debunk it. Anyone here know what's going on with that? Kindly respond at the talk page itself since I'll also crosspost this request to WPFRANCE and WPWOMENSHISTORY. — LlywelynII 13:02, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

Audrey Fildes, actress, is sadly lacking in sources and is at AfD. A family member says she was on the cover of UK Vogue in the 1950s. She's not in List of British Vogue cover models, but that's very gappy. I have found this which shows she was a model in the Sept 1950 edition. Can anyone check whether she was that Sept 1950 cover, or another cover, or find anything else useful to improve the article? I thought this project was the place to ask, as someone here may have a complete set of Vogue on their shelves or their hard drive. Thanks for any help. Pam D 12:48, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

Hello, I am fairly new to creating fashion articles but have noticed a few holes I have been trying to fill namely Emily Adams Bode Aujla, Karu Research, Kartik Kumra, and Barragán. I noticed there is a page for Bode but not its founder and decided to start drafts for Karu Research and its designer. I am of the opinion that there should be two separate archives, but is this the common feeling on wikipedia? Any tips for distinguishing between the designer and their brand?
Also, I keep bumping up against paywalls..any pointers on how to deal with this? Chainsawpunk ( talk) 02:16, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

Hello! I'm a Canada Goose employee working as a COI editor to improve the company's article. Over on the CG Talk page, I'm asking independent editors to take a look at a new Products section I've drafted. I put this draft together because, strangely, there aren't a lot of details in the article about the actual goods that Canada Goose manufactures and sells. I'm proposing that this new Products section replace an existing Marketing one that's light on substance and contains quite a bit of material that's written like an advertisement, as opposed to an encyclopedia entry.
If the above interests anybody at this WikiProject, please use this link to view my Talk page post. I know section draft reviews are a time- and effort-intensive process, and that Wikipedia is a community of volunteers, so if there's anything I can do to make the review process a little smoother, ask away.

Best,

Are Capri pants a specific style of pant, or is that one of several names for three quarter pants?

Please note: This is an updated version of a previous post that I made.
Hi all,
My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

Wallpaper group is an article written by mathematicians but this can explain a lot in fashion. To summarize the article, there is a classification of patterns which, if applied, can put any pattern into 1 of 17 categories.
I would be interested to learn if any research has ever been done to track cultural preferences for textile prints and weaves using any of these wallpaper groups in preference to others, and if this model gives insight to historical migration of fashion tastes or explains current trends.

(Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej ( talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

If the aim of the template is to identify articles within the scope of topic for purposes of organizing and improving WP:FASHION, it would be appropriate to include, yes?

<ref>

(see the

If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like
John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.
)and turns it into something like
It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{ cite web}}, {{ cite journal}} and {{ doi}}.

Back in April, I proposed a few updates to improve the quality of the Daphne Guinness article here, and since the Request Edits Queue seems to be stalled I’m hoping an independent editor here might be willing to have a look at the proposed updates. (I can’t implement them myself since I have a conflict of interest and am aware that would be a violation of Wikipedia policy.) Could someone in this WikiProject please take a look at these requests? ![]() Hello, |
Hi there,
I created d:Q117162798 : practice head (with barber mannequin head or barber head as aliases) and commons:Category:Practice heads. It doesn't have any wikipedia article. Then I found out the doublet commons:Category:Hairdresser training heads. These categories have to be merged. English is not my first language, how should I name the category on Commons? Thanks! The Denver Art Museum recently held an exhibit on the fashion house of Dior and I managed to take several good quality images of the dresses featured in the exhibit. I was wondering if images from such an exhibit can be used on Wikipedia freely? — Preceding unsigned comment added by SpiritedMichelle ( talk • contribs) 2019-02-17T02:04:21 (UTC)
Hiya, fashionist(o|a|xe)s. There's a small mystery at the Catherine de' Medici article.

I know section draft reviews are a time- and effort-intensive process, and that Wikipedia is a community of volunteers, so if there's anything I can do to make the review process a little smoother, ask away. commons:Category:The Town Crier is a multi-year run of a Seattle magazine that had quite a few fashion ads. In the course of going through these for other reasons, I've cropped a few that really struck me into files of their own, but someone might find it worth "leafing through" the subcats for other illustrations worth the effort. Hello, another editor recently added a "Fashion" subsection to the United States article. This should likely exist there, but I'm not sure where to start for sources. Are there any recommendations for solid sources that give broad coverage of US fashion? Also, I hope it's not rude to ping you, Premeditated Chaos; I saw the project is not very active and was going ping the nominators of recent fashion Featured articles, but you seem to be the nominator for all of them.
