I see you have claimed points for three DYKs on your submissions page at the WikiCup. The rule that applies to DYKs is "Points cannot be granted until the article has actually been featured on the main page. Merely being approved by a reviewer does not count." [1] So these articles do not qualify at the moment but will qualify for points when they have actually appeared on the main page. I have removed your score for the time being, so resubmit the DYKs after you get a notification on your talk page that they have been featured. There's plenty of time yet in this round! On 2 February 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Komboni, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that approximately 80% of residents of Lusaka, Zambia, live in kombonis? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Komboni. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page ( here's how, Komboni), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. We now have 809 New Page Reviewers!
Most of us requested the user right at
PERM, expressing a wish to be able to do something about the huge backlog, but the chart on the right does not demonstrate any changes to the pre-user-right levels of October.
The backlog is still steadily growing at a rate of 150 a day or 4,650 a month. Only 20 reviews a day by each reviewer over the next few days would bring the backlog down to a managable level and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
It didn't work in time to relax for the Xmas/New Year holidays. Let's see if we can achieve our goal before Easter, otherwise by Thanksgiving it will be closer to 70,000.
Remember that we are the only guardians of quality of new articles, we alone have to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged by non-Reviewer patrollers and that new authors are not being bitten.
This is even more important and extra vigilance is required considering Orangemoody, and
Kudpung is stepping down after 6 years as unofficial coordinator of New Page Patrolling/Reviewing. There is enough work for two people and two coords are now required. Details are at NPR Coordinators; nominate someone or nominate yourself. Date for the actual suffrage will be published later.

Hello, I'm not sure if you remember but in late 2015 you discussed with me a proposed edit request to update the Marsy's Law article. That old request was completed by another editor, but I was wondering if you could assist with a new edit request on the page. I have asked for a couple small updates to reflect that similar Marsy's Laws have been approved in Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. You can see the edit request on Marsy's Law's Talk page. And so ends the first round of the competition, with 4 points required to qualify for round 2. It would have been 5 points, but when a late entrant was permitted to join the contest in February, a promise was made that his inclusion would not result in the exclusion of any other competitor. To achieve this, the six entrants that had the lowest positive score of 4 points have been added to the 64 people who otherwise would have qualified. As a result, some of the groups have nine contestants rather than eight. Our top four scorers in round 1 were:
The largest number of DYKs have been submitted by Vivvt and The C of E, who each claimed for seven, and MBlaze Lightning achieved eight articles at ITN. Carbrera and Peacemaker67 each claimed for five GAs and Krishna Chaitanya Velaga was well out in front for GARs, having reviewed 32. No featured pictures, featured topics or good topics yet, but we have achieved three featured articles and a splendid total of fifty good articles.
So, on to the second round. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 1 but before the start of round 2 can be claimed in round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is a good article candidate, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! The second round of the competition has now closed, with just under 100 points being required to qualify for round 3. YellowEvan just scraped into the next round with 98 points but we have to say goodbye to the thirty or so competitors who didn't achieve this threshold; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. Our top scorers in round 2 were:
Vivvt submitted the largest number of DYKs (30), and MBlaze Lightning achieved 13 articles at ITN. Carbrera claimed for 11 GAs and Argento Surfer performed the most GARs, having reviewed 11. So far we have achieved 38 featured articles and a splendid 132 good articles. Commendably, 279 GARs have been achieved so far, more than double the number of GAs.
So, on to the third round. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 809 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!
But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.

HJ Mitchell would like to nominate you to become an administrator. Please visit Wikipedia:Requests for adminship to see what this process entails, and then contact HJ Mitchell to accept or decline the nomination. A page has been created for your nomination at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/ONUnicorn. If you accept the nomination, you must state and sign your acceptance. You may also choose to make a statement and/or answer the optional questions to supplement the information your nominator has given. Once you are satisfied with the page, you may post your nomination for discussion, or request that your nominator do so. |
The statement's not perfect but it'll do for now. You just need to answer the questions. If I get chance I'll go back through and tweak the nomination statement and maybe add a few details, but it's your RfA so don't feel you have to wait for me. Transclude it whenever you want (or you can ask me to do it for you). Don't feel you have to rush, and feel free to ask me if you have any questions (though I'm laving for work any second so I won't be around for eight or nine hours). Good luck! Hello, and good luck with your RFA! I'm traveling right now and using my alternate account so I won't comment there just yet. But I wanted to suggest you do some proofreading of your answers. The second paragraph has some apparently missing words, and in a later paragraph you misspelled "queue". Hi ONUnicorn, I have closed your request for adminship as successful. Congratulations for both your successful nomination and for your place on WP:100; you have an impressive amount of support. As always, the administrators' reading list is worth reading and the new admin help pages are most certainly available if you feel that you might require some practice with the tools in a safe environment prior to applying them elsewhere on the project.
I also noticed when activating your adminship that I granted you rollback rights back in January 2008, which would have made you one of the first people I ever gave them to. :) Good luck with your adminship! Acalamari 14:35, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! You must be an American, since over here (Europe) the notability of Lagaffe (as a character) isn't in question and a short google search would have revealed it. See for instance the Libération celebrating his 60th birthday France Culture celebrating the perannial hippie and even in Montreal he's so well known there's a quiz about him. 18:36, 14 March 2017 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by Kleuske ( talk • contribs)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally.

Good luck! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:55, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
Hello, and good luck with your RFA! I'm traveling right now and using my alternate account so I won't comment there just yet. But I wanted to suggest you do some proofreading of your answers. The second paragraph has some apparently missing words, and in a later paragraph you misspelled "queue". People tend to jump on the silliest things at an RFA so I suggest you fix those things and any others I might have missed. MelanieN alt ( talk) 15:28, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
Although the coffee is to keep you awake and sharp for answering RfA questions (do them in order lest you invoke the wrath of the !voting community), make sure you take breaks from this week of stress!
Good luck, you've got my support -- There'sNoTime ( to explain) 19:13, 23 May 2017 (UTC) |
Hi ONUnicorn! I noticed that you threw your hat into the ring. Best of luck! Oh, and I'm not gonna lie: the RFA process can be nasty at times. To help ease your nerves, here's a kitten to cheer you up. This curious furry friend found this motorcycle helmet to be a really cozy napping spot! Aww... how cute! I'd love to snuggle in with her if I was small enough...

Thank you for quality articles such as Wyandotte Caves, Education in Brazil and komboni, for welcoming and appreciating third opinions, for cleaning up article talk pages, for service from 2006 saying "Did what I could." - good luck for your admin service, you are an awesome Wikipedian!

Welcome to the mop corps ONUnicorn, following your successful RFA! There's lots to do with the mop, and lots of discipline involved! You'll have to do drill, salute your seniors, polish your boots, and iron your uniform! And, as a recruit, you'll have to scrub the latrines in the barracks! Before you do any of that, though, you're welcome to sit down and have some coffee, It's only gonna get tougher from here. SALUTE! — k6ka 🍁 ( Talk · Contributions) 13:10, 31 May 2017 (UTC) |

Concerning the IP editor 139.192.217.233 ( talk · contribs · WHOIS) and the reason why it keeps undoing the redirect of Fictional national animals: it is an IP-hopping vandal who has no discernible reasons, and a long, long history of being wholly incapable of explaining or discussing its edits, which tend to sit in the unpleasant boundary between "unhelpful good intentioned edits" and "blatant vandalism." That is, when its edits aren't blatant, poorly written WP:OR.-- Mr Fink ( talk) 14:01, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
Hi ONUnicorn,
In view of the huge and sudden backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed since mid 2016, the WMF has begun a dialogue in a quest to examine the situation and possible solutions. Please consider commenting there if you have not already done so. It is highly recommended to read it all before it becomes too long to follow.
