From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hello! I'm Acalamari. I joined Wikipedia on October 19th, 2006, though the logs say that I joined on the 20th. That's because Wikipedia uses UTC and when I created my account, I lived in a different time zone to the one I'm in now. I joined Wikipedia to correct minor errors in articles; however, I soon increased my activities from fixing mistakes to become more involved with discussions, policy, improving content, etc. I am an administrator, a bureaucrat and a global renamer.

In addition to this account, I would like to introduce you to Bellatrix Kerrigan and Acalamari-II, which are my policy-abiding alternate accounts. I have not used either account for several years, however, and am unlikely to use them again for any purpose for the time being.

Some of my mainspace contributions to Wikipedia include plenty of edits to the Fergie (singer), Nicole Scherzinger, Christina Aguilera, Carrie Underwood and The Pussycat Dolls articles. I have also performed hundreds of edits to Kelly Clarkson, Shakira, Leona Lewis, Rihanna, 78violet, Katy Perry, Paris Hilton, Beyoncé Knowles, Mandy Moore, Haylie Duff, Charlotte, North Carolina and Lady Gaga, and many edits to numerous other pages. I also like going through "families" of articles (such as editing all the London boroughs or all the places in Los Angeles County, California) to help tidy them. Still, I'll fix grammatical and formatting errors on any topic, not just those that fall under the umbrella of my interests.

I've done a lot of work in the template and book namespaces. I created the Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Brooke Hogan, Trina, Missy Higgins, Laura Branigan, Corinne Bailey Rae, Jean Michel Jarre, Rollbackgiven, Norah Jones, Colbie Caillat, Sara Bareilles, Tiffany, Katy Perry, Cyndi Lauper, Seal (musician), Lady Gaga and Ella Eyre templates, and I've done a lot of work on other templates, most notably on Fergie, Rihanna, The Pussycat Dolls and Editor review doc. When the book namespace was active, I created Fergie, Hilary Duff, Paris Hilton, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Nicki Minaj, Leona Lewis, Corinne Bailey Rae, Sara Bareilles, Robbie Williams, Pet Shop Boys, CeCe Peniston, Akon, Ashanti, Mýa, Missy Elliott, Lady Sovereign, M.I.A., Keyshia Cole, Ashlee Simpson, Natasha Bedingfield, Duffy, Estelle, Taylor Swift and Colbie Caillat.

Upon hearing about the deaths of Molly Ivins and Anna Nicole Smith, I went straight to those articles to help out. It is sad that some people vandalized these pages when they heard about the deaths. I give help to people whenever I can and if my Wikipedia skills don't cover what somebody needs, I will always check the help pages or ask someone else for advice.

According to Wikipedia:List of Wikipedians by number of edits as of August 21st, 2016, I am our 313rd highest user by edit count; however, this does not mean that I am "higher ranking" than other editors: it just means I'm on a list about edit counts. This tool shows my total edit count while this page lists the log counts for both myself and other admins; there is also this page for my admin log counts and another page for my edit count.

I can also be found on Meta at m:User:Acalamari, on the Spanish Wikipedia at es:Usuario:Acalamari, on the Irish Wikipedia at ga:Úsáideoir:Acalamari, on the Simple English Wikipedia at simple:User:Acalamari, on the Portuguese Wikipedia at pt:Usuário:Acalamari and on Commons at commons:User:Acalamari. I am also on the Irish Wiktionary at Úsáideoir:Acalamari.

I am the first person to have received the "Admins' t-shirt" (original upload here).

Origin of Acalamari

My username does not have anything to do with me being a squid. While my username is named after the animal, it's also named after a fictional planet called Mon Calamari. The "A" at the front separates it from "calamari"; I also think the name Acalamari just looks and sounds neat. As for the pronunciation, I pronounce it as "Ac-ala-mari" instead of "A-calamari" or "Acal-amari" but how other people pronounce my username doesn't bother me.

In the event you come across another Acalamari on the Internet, unless they have something to do with Wikipedia they will not be this Acalamari. I know of a couple of other Acalamaris elsewhere on the internet and they are not me.

My username has been parodied, or "spoofed" as Persian Poet Gal once called it many years ago. The list of spoofs of my name are here.

Barnstars

These barnstars and other awards are on a subpage. I wish to thank HighInBC for both creating the subpage and for awarding me my first barnstar. My RfA/RfB-related awards are located on User: Acalamari/RfA-related awards.

My three most recent barnstars are transcluded onto my user page:

Bureaucrat's award
Hi Acalamari,

I've seen that you've been closing most of the recent RfAs, and I thought I'd give you this just so you know that your work doesn't go unnoticed. Keep it up! Biblio worm 18:48, 29 November 2014 (UTC)

The Bureaucrat's Barnstar
Time and time again, the bureaucrats of en-wiki demonstrate their levelheadedness and expertise. Like an anesthesiologist in an operating room, you spend most of your time screwing around reading a magazine, but stand ready to spring into action when needed, only to fade into the background once your important work is done.

Or perhaps that's more like Batman? Whatever your preferred metaphor, I am consistently impressed by the bureaucrat corps. Thank you for your service. HiDrNick! 12:46, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
After serving as a Wikipedian for exactly 10 years, this is for the countless contributions you've made throughout the past decade. Very few people I know of have even come close to working on the site for so long. That takes serious dedication. Happy 10th Anniversary! Yes; I timed this to coincide with the very minute you registered your account per UTC time. Snuggums ( talk / edits) 03:29, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
