Hi GoingBatty. So, I don't think I like this bot, or whatever it is (if it's not a bot, what is it? If it's just a semi-automated human assistance tool, it comes under WP:MEATBOT pr WP:ASSISTED or something like that it seems, which it looks like is treated much like a bot, if I'm reading things right?)

So, anyway, if T298352 is a bot, there's a whole process to get these deployed it looks like. I'm not familiar with it, but I see that there's a page Wikipedia:Bots which includes links other pages such as Wikipedia:Bot policy and so on, and there's a good deal to digest here. I'm not up to speed on any of this, but WP:BOTISSUE says to contact the "bot operator" first, which I guess you're not (its User:BrownHairedGirl and maybe others?), but you wrote it so maybe you'd be a good starting point? If not, let me know, thanks.

So... I'm willing to be convinced that it's a good thing, but that might be for a larger discussion (not sure). I made my points at User talk:BrownHairedGirl, if you want to see them. On that basis, I'm requesting here that you disable the thing until we can figure out the next steps, here. If you don't want to, OK, then the question is how can we work together to make sure everything is done correctly and smoothly here. One thing I'd like to know first off is, what is a quick overview of the process that leads from conception to deployment of these bots (or whatever they are), and this one in particular? @ Herostratus: I think that you have inadvertently conflated two separate processes.

First, there is an AWB run which I have just completed. That job regularised the positioning of a bunch of inline templates: {{ Better source needed}}, {{ Self-published inline}}, {{ Unreliable fringe source}}, {{ Irrelevant citation}}, {{ Obsolete source}}, {{ COI source}}, {{ Promotional source}}, {{ Unreliable source?}}, {{ Failed verification}}, {{ Primary source inline}}, {{ Unreliable medical source}}. In each case, the doc for the template says to place it after the <ref>..</ref> tags, but some uses erroneously placed it inside the <ref>..</ref> tags.

I found these uses by a scan of the latest (20211220) database dump, and have fixed them all. I plan to do the same again with the next database dump. This is not a bot, just an AWB JOB.

Having seen my work, GoingBatty then opened phab:T298352, which proposes to incorporate these fixes in AWB's WP:GENFIXES. That means that whenever anyone runs AWB for any purposes, it will make these fixes, unless they disable GENFIXES. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • ( contribs) 12:45, 29 December 2021 (UTC)

@ Herostratus: Current consensus, as demonstrated in the template documentation, is to place these inline templates after the <ref>...</ref> tags. However, some people (and some tools) incorrectly place them inside the <ref>...</ref> tags. BrownHairedGirl's work inspired me to ask the developers of AutoWikiBrowser (software used by human editors and automated bots) to make this part of its general fixes. However, consensus can change. Alright, User:BrownHairedGirl and GoingBatty. I still don't agree that this is for the best, but it's not worth fighting about. I was considering rolling back the changes per WP:BRD and making you prove the benefit. I probably wouldn't have won my point, but maybe, since you'd need a supermajority. But it's not worth taking people's time.

I looked into it some, and boy the history of these templates is a bit of mess, with various duplicated templates and name changes and all and different purposes and all ("[self=published source]" and so forth). There still is a nearly-duplicate (but not exactly) template, {{ Unreliable source?}} which isn't used much that I've seen.

As near as I can tell, there wasn't any discussion over whether the template should be inline or in the "Refs" section, somebody just did it. It's established precedent because nobody much thought about over the years I suppose. If the documentation writer had said the other thing, that probably just would have become accepted as the established precedent. But oh well. (I asked a couple-few years ago for the documentation to be changed to "inline or in the Refs section as the editor thinks best" (a general approach I wish was more popular), but was rebuffed in a thread that had I think one other participant. Template talk pages are obscure.)

I think the best way forward is to have a different template for editors to use when they feel that the template should be inside the ref, and I'll see if I can get that approved, but that has nothing to do with us here. @ BillieHereDitary: When looking at the Morgan Giraudet article, you can look at the left side toolbar for a link labeled "Wikidata item" that will take you to the Wikidata item about him. Hello, I've been trying to decline this item which does not pass WP:NMUSIC and which has twice been moved to main by a new account. But... keep gettng 'page unresponsve' messages after clicking on 'review' and then on decline. At that point nothing happens and the page wll not reload either. I've done a reboot etc. to no avail; everything else seems to be working OK – I can edit and review other pages it seems, but not this one. Any ideas? My son asked me for help when he couldn't install their remote access software, and I harassed the scammer until they hung up. That's not a feature I use, but I found Wikipedia:Emailing_users#Prohibiting_email_from_specified_users, which says "If you have the email preference enabled, you can specify usernames which you do not want to be able to send you emails." In Special:Diff/1068583045, the generic "Editors" author name was necessary in the citation Editors (1938), "Notatki: Z topologii", Mathesis Polska (in Polish), 11 (1–2): 26–28, in order to make the harv link Editors (1938) link correctly. Your bot broke the harv link. It should not be breaking things in order to make cleanups that are, in this case, not actually cleanups. I do not actually know how the authors are recorded in the original Polish for this citation, because I know the citation only through a 2004 English translation, available at JSTOR  4145019. That translation gives the authors as "Hugo Steinhaus and others"; an intelligent human, trying to fix this citation, would possibly have used that instead of "Editors". Your bot is obviously not intelligent enough to do that, but more importantly, it is not intelligent enough to recognize when it is making citations worse instead of better. • A more straightforward problem is that the bot is adding articles to Category:CS1 errors: missing name because this sort of fix needs also to change author2 to author1 (and 3 to 2 etc). • I have changed the bot to skip pages with sfn or harv templates in future runs, as suggested.
• In the Material religion article, I manually changed "Editors" to "((Editors))" (as David did in Ham sandwich theorem) to remove the article from the error category.
• The problem with the Silent preaching article is not straightforward, because the bot cannot determine whether to change author2 to author1 or editor2. The bot was only skipping when author2 immediately followed last1/first1, so now I've changed the bot to skip if author2 is found later in the same reference. I looked at the book on Amazon, determined that they're both editors, and manually fixed the reference accordingly.

Thank you for answering my question about how to eventually publish my page, The Actors' Group. I will try to declare my COI. In addition to being the president of the theater, I am its historian, so the logical person to do this, and frankly, no one else will really take the time to do. The photo of myself is a screen shot of my photo as every time I tried to upload it I couldn't. I'm not sure why. I mean, it's my head shot, and, I have the permission of a number of other members of our theater to use their head shots. So at this point I'm experimenting with putting images, but I'm perplexed about why things are being accepted. I'm aware of the COI and how it will impact the writing, so given that, I will be mindful of being as truthful as possible. But there are certain things that involve me that are pure fact. It is within Wikipedia guidelines to include references which are not independent. Anecdotally, I tested this out by going to Facebook's Wikipedia page. The first few references are all from Facebook's website itself. Where is the difference here? Your goal is to demonstrate that MAD meets Wikipedia's notability guideline for organizations, and that requires that the draft contains "significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject". The concern I stated is that you have a lot of information in the "Funding" section that is not referenced, and it would be preferable to use independent sources for it. The Facebook article has over 600 references, most of which are independent sources, so it's OK to have a few self-published sources for the statistics in the infobox. I know a lot about Kessler Foundation and that some of the information that is cited now is incorrect, so I was trying to update it. I am in the disability field and I know what is being done at Kessler Foundation. It has grown considerably since the past 10 years that the wikipedia page has been updated. For example, under the PROGRAM section, those 2 programs are no longer happening there. Plus, there is a new Center for Autism Research that is being launched this month. Hello. As you're currently listed as a host at the Teahouse, I wanted to make sure you're aware of the imminent rollout of new Growth Team Features which every new account will be getting by default. Each users will soon see a new 'Homepage' tab next to their User page. It contains two main elements which might impact on your involvement - and you'd be welcome to get involved and help out directly with one of them.

• Firstly, they will be offered a range of 'suggested edits', and encouraged to make simple improvements to pages that interest them. (Being aware of this feature would be helpful for all Teahouse hosts if you're likely to offer advice on tasks for them to start out doing.)
• There's also a 'Your impact' box to show them how many people have seen the pages they've just edited.
• Finally, each new user is randomly assigned a 'mentor' from a list of friendly, experienced editors, like yourself. If they get stuck, they can ask a question directly to them via a Your mentor box, and hopefully get a swift, friendly answer from that mentor. Currently, this feature is given to 2% of new users, but it's set to increase to around 10% in the very near future.

To spread the load on our current list of around 65 mentors, I'm reaching out to ask if you'd like to help out and sign up as one? The workload is relatively small; User Panini! reports receiving four questions a month, on average, all of which were simple ones of the type we already get at the Teahouse, whilst I've had just one in the last 3 weeks. @ Reunion: Hi there! Before giving the earlier feedback, I looked at Wikipedia:Notability (sports). Since there isn't a specific section for biathletes, WP:SPORTBASIC applies: "A person is presumed to be notable if they have been the subject of multiple published non-trivial secondary sources which are reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject."

@ Hook GEe: Hi there! WP:AUTO explains that Wikipedia strongly discourages autobiographies. Creating a new article is one of the hardest things to do on Wikipedia, especially when you have a conflict of interest (COI). To learn how to edit, you could view Help:Introduction and The Wikipedia Adventure. I suggest spending a significant amount of time editing existing articles to hone your skills. When you're ready to create an article, you would gather independent reliable sources that have provided significant coverage of you, and determine whether you meet Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion of musicians, called " notability". If so, you would declare your COI on your user page, and then follow the instructions at Help:Your first article, and be prepared for a process that may include months of waiting, rejections, and rewrites, before an article is created. If you are successful, then you could never edit the article directly due to your COI, but could submit edit requests on the article's talk page. Hope this helps. Hi GoingBatty. As I pointed out in my revert summary, headline= is a requirement in Template:Track listing per its documentation (this was introduced in 2020). MOS:TABLECAPTION applies too, as it is a table, and there was a Wikipedia-wide consensus at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Accessibility/Archive 15#RfC on table captions that also took place in 2020. It was raised there that in instances like this it just repeats information from the section header and is clear even to visually impaired readers who use screen readers, but it was still found to be a requirement and that redundancy should ultimately not cancel out its inclusion. Your writing should be in complete sentences, and have multiple references showing the definition and usage of "seame". I made an edit to your sandbox for you.

When you're ready to have your work reviewed, I suggest you move it to Draft:Seame, and then type {{subst:submit}} at the top.

But then I will try to edit some other esport pages first. There are not so many, but the ESL (company) seems to be intresting and outdated too.

Is it fine to write short description of the competitors first and maybe go more in detail later. It seems that many of your sources are press releases, wikis, and social media - you'll need multiple independent reliable sources for the draft to be approved. Articles about other organizations could be notable if you can find multiple independent reliable sources for them - see WP:ORGCRIT and WP:EVENTCRIT. Happy editing! @ Aar0ph Hi there! If you look carefully at the history of the article, you will see that I made some tweaks to the article in December. The user Star Mississippi reverted yesterday's edit by PosterMonkey, stating in the edit summary that the addition was "Promotional, copyvio material".

Because you and PosterMonkey have a conflict of interest (COI), you must comply with WP:PAID and disclose your COI on your user pages. You may then post suggestions to improve the article on the article's talk page - Talk:Poster House - along with supporting independent, reliable sources, and another editor will help you. It's not a complete username violation, but together with the content comes across as being here to promote the museum. We're happy to hear what reliable sources say about the museum (and personally, I adored the Tokyo Olympiad show), but cannot serve as a promotional vehicle for the museum itself. With this edit, BattyBot removed the trailing comma from |postscript=,.

I recognize that removing trailing commas from parameter values is desirable in most cases (indeed, the same edit correctly changed the mistaken https://citer.toolforge.org/citer.fcgi -generated |first=Heather,, to |first=Heather).

However, removing the comma from |postscript=, defeats the purpose of the postscript display option.

I have temporarily put a , HTML entity code in place, although this is undesirable as per the postscript instructions: Additional text or templates beyond the terminating punctuation may generate an error message. Since I have ".mw-parser-output span.cs1-maint {display: inline;}" included in my common.css file, it does indeed display a maintenance message. It also puts it in Category:CS1 maint: postscript.

Please fix this problem. Also, if you know of any satisfactory work-arounds to alleviate this problem until you resolve the problem, please let me know. Peaceray ( talk) 18:06, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

This happens fairly often. What occurs is that an experienced editor moves a page, creating a redirect at the old location. Then, another editor comes along and changes the redirect into an article. When the page is deleted, Twinkle looks to see who made the first edit to the page which is the editor who created the redirect, not the editor who created the article. Hi GoingBatty. BattyBot edited Affordable housing in Canada yesterday causing a no target error. As "nd" is not the same as from "n.d.", and so the link with the {{ sfn}} templates was broken.
Also the bot states that it's fixing a CS1 error, but this isn't a situation that causes a CS1 error. Nor can I see where this type of change is covered under the bots approval.

Before my bot edited Affordable housing in Canada, the article looked like this. The CS1 date error is |access-date=25 May 2022 (a future date) of the Moore & Skaburskis citation. That is not something the bot can fix, so the bot should have skipped the article. However, my bot incorrectly considered |date=nd of the National Housing Strategy citation as something that needed to be fixed, which caused the problem. Therefore, I have changed my bot's rules to avoid changing |date=nd in the future.

Note that the bot approval contains examples of the types of changes that the bot makes. You can see the complete list of changes at User:BattyBot/CS1 errors-dates.

Looking carefully at the references in that article, I made some manual updates. I also have some questions:

• The "Report of the Special Rapporteur" reference contains |work=C. How should that be manually fixed? It seems like it's sorted under "O" to represent "OHCHR", as the report is posted on ohchr.org, but the report doesn't seem to mention the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
• Why is the "About HSC" sorted under "S" instead of "H"?
• Why is "The Economist" reference sorted under "T" instead of "E"? (Similar question with "The Poverty and Human Rights Centre" reference)

First of all, thanks so much GoingBatty and @ ActivelyDisinterested: for the work you do with bots. The answer to all of your questions is mainly human error. I try to fix my own errors manually but of course, I miss a lot. As your bots locate errors that need a manual clean-up, I can do that easily if you draw my attention to them in the relevant article's talk page, with reminders of recurrent protocol errors. @ Usernamekiran I have seen no change in the font of the edit window. I edit using the current Google Chrome version on a PC with the skin in my preferences set to "Vector legacy (2010)". I skimmed the current conversations at WP:VP/T, WP:Help desk, and WP:Teahouse, and didn't see anyone else reporting this issue. I am using Firefox, with monobook skin, and in preferences, I have set the font to monospace. I just remembered, I updated my firefox. The font is still monospace, but it looks a little thicker, not exactly bold, but a little thicker than usual. It is definitely because of the firefox update. I'm far from an expert on copyright laws. I believe I've only uploaded photos I've taken or images that fall within fair use such as covers of books/CDs/movies. @ Lil-unique1 Hi there! I reverted my edit to the Nothing but the Beat article to confirm what the article looked like before I added the {{ short description}}. You are correct that the {{ Infobox album}} documentation states "This template adds an automatically generated short description." However, I don't see the short description displayed on the article. I have the Shortdesc helper gadget enabled in my Preferences, which doesn't indicate that the infobox is adding a short description.

Yesterday I was using VisualEditor to edit the article Ali Tennant, and checking each link in the "Album" column of the Songwriting credits table. In Edit mode, when I click on each link, a popup window appears and displays the short description (if it exists). When I click on the Nothing but the Beat link, the popup window does not show the short description. Therefore, I clicked on the link to confirm that Nothing but the Beat is actually an article about an album, and not an unrelated film or television show. I used the Shortdesc helper gadget to quickly add a short description, in the hopes that it will help future editors.

Hi! I saw that your bot works with adding project templates to talk pages. So I'd like to offer you one similar task, which shouldn't be a problem. It's to add the {{ WikiProject Music/Music genres task force}} template to pages where it doesn't exist. The set of articles themselves are all items on wikidata that have an English article and instance of = music genre (Q188451), song type (Q107356781), type of musical work/composition (Q107487333), audio content genre (Q108676140). It's a pretty neat selection here (relatively), as I've been working through these items for a few years now trying to keep them in order.

@ Kanzat: I created User:BattyBot/Orphan for you. You can paste the contents of this page (excluding the <syntaxhighlight>...</syntaxhighlight> tags) into an .xml file on your PC. In AWB, you would go to File > Open settings... and then select your .xml file. I presume you'll have to make some changes for this to work on the Ukrainian Wikipedia, such as:

• Change the Preferences > Site from "en" to "uk"
• On the Skip tab, change "{{orphan" to "{{Ізольована стаття"

Dear Mentor, Could you please help me with the submission of the new page for sculptor David Phillips? It was rejected again, this time apparently for reasons tied to the “quality and reliability of sources.” Since you had suggested that I add new references in the education section, I added references of Cranbrook Academy, the New England Conservatory of Music, State of Utah, and also the Christian Science Monitor, the Boston Globe, and the Art Net Magazine, all reliable secondary sources of good reputation and totally independent from the well-known artist David Phillips. Besides, in addition to the articles above in the Boston Globe and other publications, I added a few more references on his artwork, such as the Mel Lederman Memorial Foundation (private website), Landscape Notes (sourced in partnership with MIT and Harvard), and some blogs that perhaps are not strong enough references, in which case we could remove them, of course. On another note, I did not include an article from the AP News Agency that mentions David Phillips as the sculptor retained by the Boston Museum of Science to design and build the future Leonard Nimoy memorial with a 20-foot sculpture shaped like Mr. Spock’s split-fingered hand, because I thought this is just an ongoing project for now (Please see article from a CBS station here: https://www.wkyt.com/2021/03/26/live-long-in-sculpture-20-foot-art-planned-for-spock-symbol/) Likewise, I omitted the publication from the Animal League of Boston regarding the work they commissioned David Phillips for (see reference here: http://www.arlboston.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Donor-and-artist-profile-release_15-5-22.pdf). I have made serial zoom photographic review of the face of the famous Mona Lisa painting as seen by millions in the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. The eyebrows on the face of the beautiful Mona Lisa are clearly missing. They had not been painted in the 'genuine' painting present in the Louvre Museum as attributed authentically to Leonardo Da Vinci, around 1503 -1516 AD. I am not aware that attention has been focused on this particular important anatomic anomaly by art world experts and devotees (historians, critics, traders, collectors, film producers, commentators and teachers alike) to the best of my knowledge.

As a forensic pathologist I look forward to contributions of interested people keen on this subject to review and to develop a worthy wide discussion on it. --

The following paragraphs are exactly copied from the above publication by Pascal Cotte:(up to end of Biography paragraph) The L.A.M. technique is based on images obtained by the multispectral camera, recording the light reflected on 13 wavelengths (filters). It generates over 1,650 images, capturing the interaction between light and matter at all depths of the paint-layer. The technique makes it possible to reconstitute the genesis of a work, its chronology and the different phases that compose i Pascal Cotte’s scientific discoveries rewrite the history of a mythical work that has become the emblem of Western Art. They lead to the hypothesis that the Mona Lisa was painted in four main stages: 1/ Leonardo painted a 1st portrait, slightly larger than today – perhaps the draft for the 2nd portrait. Nothing enables us to say who is represented. The posture seems identical to the portrait as it appears today. The hands placed on the arm-rest and the sleeves are similar but slightly larger. 2/ Leonardo effaced this draft and painted a 2nd portrait. The discovery of a head-dress made of pearls, draperies and hair-pins suggests the subject may have been sacred or mythological – perhaps a Goddess, Saint or Madonna. 3/ Above this Leonardo then painted a 3rd portrait, with a hairstyle and dress typical of Florentine fashion from the years 1502-06. It is suggested that this is the veritable portrait of Lisa Gherardini seen by Florentines and described by Vasari. 4/ Finally, Leonardo transformed this work into the Mona Lisa we know today, altering the posture, turning the head and eyes towards the viewer, moving the shoulders more to the right and adding a veil around the head and upper body to mask the former hairstyle and dress.

Summary The book reveals that the Mona Lisa is not Lisa Gherardini, wife of Francesco del Giocondo, and that her identity has been mistaken for 500 years. Using a new scientific imaging technique (L.A.M.), Cotte unveils over 150 discoveries found beneath all the repainting. He establishes the chronology of the various paint-layers and reveals the authentic portrait of Lisa Gherardini, of which he proposes a realistic reconstitution. She has more feminine face and looks to her right, with a different posture; there is no dark veil, while her clothes (gamure) and hairstyle (foggia alla francese) relect Florentine fashion between 1502-07. Her dress has pretty tied ribbons (nastri) and openings (inestrelle) that reveal her chemise underneath. Her hair is held in place by a net (velo) and embroidery around her forehead. This was the portrait of a dignitary’s wife, typical of the Florentine upper-classes. The extraordinary discovery reconciles the various existing theories about the history of this Symbol of Western Art. Cotte goes even further, helping us discover two other projects hidden beneath deeper repainting. He reveals an impressive head-dress made from draperies, hair-pins and pearls (probably for a Madonna or Saint); and the forms and outline of another, larger portrait. The book enables readers to superimpose use four moveable transfer sheets, featuring the surrounds of the discoveries, on the images so as to chart the four stages of the work’s evolution. The reader can thus conduct his own investigation. Why did Leonardo transform the portrait of Lisa Gherardini into the Mona Lisa? The answer, suggests Cotte, lies with the story of Giuliano de’ Medici – the very man Leonardo himself, speaking at the end of his life, referred to as the portrait’s commissioner. He is the inventor of the L.A.M. scientific imagery technique and the first high-definition multispectral camera, which he has used to digitize several works by Leonardo da Vinci: the Louvre’s Mona Lisa, in October 2004; The Lady with an Ermine in Cracov, in September 2007; La Bella Principessa in 2008; and La Belle Ferronnière in 2011. All told, Cotte has digitized over 2,000 works in public and private collections, and authored several studies scientific about famous paintings. His book Lumière on The Lady with an Ermine reconstitutes the three phases of that painting’s creation, including one version without an animal. The now famous engineer/photographer, Pascal Cotte, has carried research commissioned on behalf of the Louvre Museum, apparently since 2004 onward. He used by that time what was considered sophisticated optical scanning and array devices with enhanced number of filters covering a wide range up to thirteen filters from ultraviolet to infrared with powerful light homogenous light source. His camera was capable of 240 mega pixels (nowadays for example Samsung mobile company has on the market mobile phone equipped with 200 megapixel and in 2026 apparently it is scheduled to launch a mobile phone with capability of 560 mega pixels). His scientific study still could not at all satisfy the question of the missing eyebrows and thus failed to answer the question of the missing eyebrows. When Pascal Cotte was directly asked about the eyebrows’ issue specifically his reply was really not convincing neither from a profoundly scientific finding nor from speculative answer to justify the absence of the eyebrows. He claimed (only himself with no substantiation by a anyone else) to have observed (identified) in the hidden layering study of one single hair on the left eyebrow and that was that. He did not see a thing that remotely could look like a hair on the right side where the right eyebrow would anatomically have been. He further went on to speculate that the reason for the missing eyebrows could be attributed to repetitive restoration works carried on the painting since the supposed last work by Leonardo in 1516 on it or more logically after his death around ten to fifteen years later from the time he began working on it. There is no knowledge that the work had continued on it by Leonardo when it had become under the ownership of the King of France. There is no record in the internet of restoration work on the Mona Lisa painting since it had become the property of the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. And Pascal Cotte did not tell whether such restoration work had been carried in the Louvre itself at least in the last two centuries and till the commencement of his study. The eyebrows were not certainly the main concern at all or even the centre piece of the Louvre/Pascal study as the interest was on the finding the hidden story of the artist’s techniques of the real layers under the visible surface painting of the Mona Lisa. To this end he succeeded in shedding new light on the drawing of the left-hand fingers, the famous smile of the Mona Lisa and the supposed faded blanket. Mr, Cotte went further to publish work on his studies on other works that are well documented. His work received support from Prof. Martin Kemp of Oxford University whom he subsequently collaborated with him on other work: Kemp M., Cotte P., La Bella Principessa. The Story of the New Masterpiece by Leonardo da Vinci, London, 2010 Pascal Cotte in his attempted explanation on the missing eyelashes he seems to come across dismissing the circulated alternative explanation that the eyebrows could have been plucked off by the lady herself. . This shaving off or plucking off the eyebrows was attributed by those advocating social explanation to trends and norms of Italian women in early 16th century. It is difficult to find if this social reasoning could be substantiated. It is not hard on Art Historians and Art Curators possibly to simply undertake comparison on the presence or absence of eyebrows in Leonardo's earlier paintings or the work of Leonardo's contemporary painters in the Renaissance who have equally painted women faces in various art works executed by them. This study if done objectively could either strengthen the social explanation or treat is as weak at best. Also, it is possible to see if the missing eyebrows formed a theme in Leonardo's subsequent post Mona Lisa work or the works of his contemporaries and those who followed him of other European Artists within a period in which social trends would gradually wane off if again the social explanation is to be taken seriously. If Leonardo was truly reflecting in the Mona Lisa painting some accepted social trend of that time, he would have been equally acutely aware of knowing he had pupils in his art studio working to follow on his footsteps. There is a second copy of the Lisa painting that is housed in the Prado Museum in Madrid (to avoid referring to it as Mona Lisa). The Art historians and art experts of Leonardo’s works apparently favour pupil artists like Salaï or Francesco Melzi. These followers were Leonardo’s most trusted pupils. Unlike other pupils, who apparently had been judged by students of Art paintings, created their own artistic styles out of their apprentices with Leonardo. Therefore, the verdict on the second Lisa painting by either of these two artists has been based on their adherence to Leonardo’s style. According to published conclusion points of an interesting commissioned study by the Louvre Museum but conducted in the Prado museum in Madrid where comparison has been made between the French Mona Lisa and its Spanish counterpart copy, that the ‘technical analyses have demonstrated that the Prado’s version was executed at the same time as the original, supporting the hypothesis of a workshop “duplicate” produced at the same time and with direct access to the gradual process of creation of Leonardo’s original work.’ Yet one can make clearly evidence of the presence of eyebrows on the face of the Spanish Lisa copy, even if these were painted somewhat thinly. Giorgio Vasari in his 16th century account (stated that faint evidence of eyebrows and eyelashes were seen by him on the Lisa's painting. The question is which copy had Vasari seen. Was the copy with the evidence of the thin but visible eyebrows the real copy painted by the master Leonardo? Was Leonardo in some peculiar mental state or mood that he intentionally opted to deprive the beautiful face of her full beauty? but yet he ensured his pupil would grant this essential anatomical human facial feature on the second copy. The medical world as sampled above focussed when it comes to the missing eyebrows on the health of the thyroid gland. Hypothyroidism, underactive and under functioning thyroid gland, would lead to hair loss. One way to explain the missing eyebrows is to consider them lost due to medical condition, such as Hypothyroidism. Therefore, condition like Peripartum Thyroiditis (which means inflammation of the thyroid gland around the time of delivery and shortly after in a pregnancy) and post-partum Hypothyroidism (which means development of underactive thyroid gland post- delivery of the baby in a pregnancy) were thought of to explain facial features of Mona Lisa. Another medical explanation that had been seen in the literature is published in the Clinical and Experimental Dermatology Journal with the title The Mona Lisa: an example of frontal fibrosing alopecia masquerading as Renaissance fashion? and written by Campbell, V and McKenna, K. In summary the medical community has thankfully attempted to offer pathology related explanation for the missing eyebrows, the sociologists provided another explanation and the engineering research through the work of Pascal Cotte speculated but very likely weakly and most probably unconvincingly that engineer Cotte really has spotted the trace evidence, manifested by one hair in the area where the left eyebrow was supposed to have been painted and nothing on the right side according to engineer Cottee. The topic needs, no doubt, greater depth of studying with clear unbiased objectivity that is detached from personal leaning and importantly free of Museums' influence

No one from the Art world seems surprisingly offering explanation on the missing eyebrows of the Mona Lisa painting in the Louvre. This topic has been dealt with professionals in fields not specifically directly involved in art history. This intriguing mystery could be greatly helped by comparative contemporary observational analysis by experts in History of Artists and their Paintings. Were the missing eyebrows an aberration by Leonardo only, or committed by others too. Knowing something as important as eyebrows on human face and that their presence is invariably taken as a matter of natural course in life as well as in paintings and often a sign of beauty when the eyebrows are looked after especially by women, could one speculate about the genuine authenticity of the Mona Lisa painting in the Louvre Museum with her deficient eyebrows. The Louvre Museum would absolutely certainly dismiss and disregard this question as a futile debate, farce and of totally of no importance what so ever, but what about objective art historians, curators and paintings experts. Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574) in his Lives of the Most Eminent Painters, Sculptors and Architects Volume 4 ( by De Vere, Gaston du C) Pages 87-126 (Digital.Libraries.com). The following is quoted from the volume described above:

"Leonardo undertook to execute, for Francesco del Giocondo, the portrait of Monna Lisa, his wife; and after toiling over it for four years, he left it unfinished; and the work is now in the collection of King Francis of France, at Fontainebleau. In this head, whoever wished to see how closely art could imitate nature, was able to comprehend it with ease; for in it were counterfeited all the minutenesses that with subtlety are able to be painted, seeing that the eyes had that lustre and watery sheen which are always seen in life, and around them were all those rosy and pearly tints, as well as the lashes, which cannot be represented without the greatest subtlety. The eyebrows, through his having shown the manner in which the hairs spring from the flesh, here more close and here more scanty, and curve according to the pores of the skin, could not be more natural. The nose, with its beautiful nostrils, rosy and tender, appeared to be alive. The mouth, with its opening, and with its ends united by the red of the lips to the flesh-tints of the face, seemed, in truth, to be not colours but flesh. In the pit of the throat, if one gazed upon it intently, could be seen the beating of the pulse. And, indeed, it may be said that it was painted in such a manner as to make every valiant craftsman, be he who he may, tremble and lose heart. He made use, also, of this device: Monna Lisa being very beautiful, he always employed, while he was painting her portrait, persons to play or sing, and jesters, who might make her remain merry, in order to take away that melancholy which painters are often wont to give to the portraits that they paint. And in this work of Leonardo's there was a smile so pleasing, that it was a thing more divine than human to behold; and it was held to be something marvellous, since the reality was not more alive." Thank you again for your helpful advice. With regard to the copied quotation from the work of engineer Pascal Cotte I was making sure that his material is precisely quoted as he advertised it. It might appear a bit much but because the topic is important in its pursuit of the missing eyebrows on the Mona Lisa. Engineer Pascal Cotte is the only known person who has been given direct access ( as revealed publicly by the Louvre Museum since around 1800 AD) to undertake a scientific study using his invented compilation of multifilters, camera with large megapixels and scan...etc. Therefore I felt it is appropriate to state to readers what Mr. Pascal Cotte has himself set out to tell the rest of us on his own work. Yet the central issue of my interest is to revive the question of the whereabout of the eyebrows of the Mona Lisa in the copy present in the Louvre Museum. I have communicated with several professors of Art History in different North American and European Universities with the content of the my writing above on the question of the eyebrows. I genuinely hope to receive feedback and I am waiting optimistically.

Your question of putting the entire information after you conform it to your guideline now or a bit later following possibility of getting some feedback from the Art Historians is really up to you as you see most appropriate for the good of all.

A follow up to the contact initiated with Prof. Martin Kemp of Oxford University. Prof Kemp is extremely busy academician but was very kind to find time to reply to the question of the missing eyebrows of the Mona Lisa. Briefly his main points could be summarised from what was understood in his message that to make medical diagnosis on studying an image alone could be fraught with errors. Medical professionals tend to apply strict scientific criteria on their medical research and medical work. Therefore it would be only appropriate if the same terms would apply when medical people attempt to make a medical diagnosis on a painting without considering the history of the image, the function of the image and the different stages of conservation the work could have been subjected to.

Prof Kemp kindly provided a reference J-Pierre Mohen et al, Mona Lisa. Inside the Painting. This work apparently shows the crude interventions of past restorers. Therefore it is unsafe to make the point that the Mona Lisa never had eyebrows painted.

Prof. Kemp added that there was a time when eyebrows had been heavily plucked, and when the Maddalena Doni by Raphael is viewed this point would become clearer. The matter of the missing eyebrows could have been due to the effect of prior restoration(s) as the eyebrows would have been likely delicately painted.

Wikipedia page Meena and not Mina on the basis of only one book the entire Meena page is being told as Bhil which is completely wrong. Hello. When I created Category talk:Zimbabwe history-related lists I copied the code from Category talk:Zimbabwe-related lists. Why then did the bot do this and has not touched the exact same syntax at Category talk:Zimbabwe-related lists which has been that way for 15 years? Thanks for looking into this and the reply. I am aware of the two no, three yes rule with banner shells. What I'm not familiar with is the purpose/scope of the bot. I was just curious why the bot is bothering to change WPZW → WikiProject Zimbabwe. Am I doing something wrong? Another example in a category I created [5]: The bot changed WP Australia → WikiProject Australia. It just seems like a pointless change unless there is something wrong with this syntax I'm not aware. Are these abbreviations something I should avoid in the future? @ DB1729: That's another case of a pointless change that the bot should not have made, because the page already contained {{ WikiProject banner shell}}. The bot changes WP XXX → WikiProject XXX because AWB's general fixes only adds {{ WikiProject banner shell}} when the talk page has 3 or more WikiProject templates named "WikiProject foo" and not with their redirects. As long as you're manually adding {{ WikiProject banner shell}} (or one of its redirects), it doesn't matter whether you use the full WikiProject template or one of its redirects, as now (thanks to your report) BattyBot will ignore those pages for this task. I found that {{ Dedham}} is a sidebar nav template indiscriminately used on hundreds of article that just mention this small community in any way, in violation of WP:BIDI. So it needs to be removed from around 200 articles, all except the ~40 that at linked in the template. Can you do this, or do you have a quick way to make a list and I can do it with AWB. (Some are from the redirect {{ DedhamHistory}}). MB 21:03, 29 September 2022 (UTC)

@ MB: Here's my suggestion:

1. Make a list using AWB with "Source: What transcludes page" and "What embeds: Template:Dedham", which gives me 261 pages.
2. Click Tools > List Comparer and click OK to copy the list into the ListComparer.
3. For List 2, choose "Source: Links on page" and "Links on: Template:Dedham" and click Make List, which gives me 48 pages. You probably want to keep the template on these pages.
4. Click the Compare button
5. In the main AWB window (not the ListComparer window), click List > Clear current list.
6. In the ListComparer window, under "Unique in List 1", click "Use list", which copies the list into the main AWB window.
7. Close the ListComparer window
8. Create a Find and Replace rule for \{\{Dedham(History)?\}\} → nothing, with the Regex box checked.
9. Create a default edit summary of something like: "Removed indiscriminate use of {{ Dedham}} per WP:BIDI"
10. Go through the list, skipping those articles that should have the template.

To use my find/replace rules as a bot, you would have to:

1. create an account
2. register for AutoWikiBrowser
3. demonstrate you could run it well manually
4. register for a bot account, and then
5. submit a bot request for approval explaining why you want to run a bot.

The reviewer of Draft:Monroe Grisman posted "Most of the sources are interviews which are not independent or not about him." The box at the top of the draft states "This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject".

Let's look at the first 3 references:

1. The Marin Magazine article is an interview.
2. The Marin Independent Journal article is an interview.
3. The SFGATE article is an interview.

WP:PRIMARY discusses primary sources and, in Note d, includes interviews as a type of primary sources. Interviews are not secondary sources, and are not independent of the subject. Therefore, your claim that all the citations are independent 3rd party is not correct.

@ BlockBusterEvan: When I think of "non-free use rationales", I normally think of images. For example, the When We Was Fab article has the image of the copyrighted album cover at the top. Also, the Apple Corps article has the image of the company logo at the top. I like using the "Upload a non-free file" option at Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard to upload album covers and logos. The sentence is attempting to say – when American entered the early 1920s i.e. the 1920, 1921, 1922 and Agnes Vernon entered the same period, she abandoned showbusiness. Upon reflection I can’t make an equivalency that both American and Vernon abandoned something in the early twenties.

Should read: I will rewrite the sentence to read - After Vernon entered her twenties, she forever abandoned Hollywood.

@ Anonymus R: Hi there! Budget of the European Union uses {{ Infobox government budget}}. Let's look at the example in the Template:Infobox government budget documentation, which is the infobox for the 2018 Union Budget of India. At the bottom of this sample infobox are links " 2017" (which goes to 2017 Union budget of India) and " 2019" (which goes to 2019 Union budget of India). Looking at the example source, these are the parameters that create those links:

|previous_year = 2017

|next_budget = 2019 Union budget of India

|next_year = 2019

Back to Budget of the European Union article, the infobox had the following parameters:

|previous_year = 2021

|next_budget = 2023

This was creating a link at the bottom of the infobox to the Wikipedia article about the year 2023, as you can see in this previous version of Budget of the European Union.

If the article was called 2022 Budget of the European Union, then it would make sense to have the infobox contain links to 2021 Budget of the European Union and 2023 Budget of the European Union. However, since the article doesn't appear to be specific to a specific year's budget, these infobox parameters are not appropriate to use.

The BattyBot change [7], now reverted, caused a "no inner hatnotes detected" error on Mathematics. Presumably BattyBot didn't like the hatnote group containing a non-hatnote, but an empty hatnote group was worse. I'll clean up the article's hatnotes but you might want to take a look at this.
