Hi. A couple months ago an editor moved an ARCA race article (then Carolina 200) to a new Truck article where they became combined. Shouldn't the ARCA Series information have its own article, Carolina 200, while the Truck Series race remains Good Sam Roadside Assistance Carolina 200? Both were/are held at Rockingham Speedway. If we do this we probably will also need a disambiguation article. I was wondering if you would move it since I can't move over redirect. Thanks. -- Nascar1996( Talk • Contribs) 19:26, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi Bushranger. You recently closed this thread at ANI (excellent use of Python, btw), but recent events involving quite serious personal threats( [1] and [2]) appear to be related - the offending User:Bunglezippy appears to be another Denhaagandy sock. Lectonar has asked me to copy his comments into the closed thread; I wonder if you'd consider re-opening the discussion again, to keep all the pertinent information in one place. I have made a potentially contentious WP:Bold action on the English Electric Lightning article where a recent large "text dump" was moved to the talk page. I started to revise and edit the submission based on a WP:AGF when I noted this was an example of a roughly-translated and very magaziney-type edit. I have had "dealings" with the editor in question before, and although there is probably some good gen here, the sheer volume of the submission is daunting for a revision. The question is, however, what the reaction will be, as my Italian compatriot is often very adamant in advocating for the inclusion of his edits. FWiW Bzuk ( talk) 14:14, 20 April 2012 (UTC).
I opened an ANI discussion regarding a user, and that user has been filling the discussion with very long posts that largely have nothing to do with the complaint and I feel are repelling uninvolved editors from getting involved (due to tl;dr). I was thinking maybe the comments could be collapsed with {{ hat}}, but as the user who brought the complaint, I obviously can't do that myself. I'm wondering if you can have a look and offer advice on how to handle this. The discussion is at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#User promoting a movement. Thanks. Following up on your comment at CFR, I'm curious as to why you feel Universal Rocket should be moved to Universal Rocket (rocket family). All of the other examples you gave were ambiguous, and not primary topics, however UR is not ambiguous, and hence by definition the primary topic. Good Article
The 2010 Crown Royal Presents the Heath Calhoun 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held on May 1, 2010 at Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, Virginia. Contested over 400 laps, it was the tenth race of the 2010 Sprint Cup Series season. The race was won by Kyle Busch for the Joe Gibbs Racing team. Jeff Gordon finished second, and Kevin Harvick, who started seventh, clinched third. Pole position driver Kyle Busch maintained the lead after the start of the race. Kyle Busch would eventually lead to the race high of 226 laps. Afterward, Gordon became the leader during the final laps. He remained the leader until Kyle Busch passed him with four laps remaining. Kyle Busch crossed the finish line first to clinch his first win of the season, and his third at Richmond International Raceway. There were six caution flags and twelve lead changes among eight different drivers throughout the course of the race. The result moved Kyle Busch up two spots to third in the Drivers' Championship, 109 points behind of leader Kevin Harvick and ten ahead of Matt Kenseth. Chevrolet maintained its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, eighteen points points ahead of Toyota and thirty ahead of Ford, with twenty-six races remaining in the season. I am completely gobstopped that this elaborate confab continues, to the extent that another crusader has now elaborated on the story with an even more unbelievable tale of being a former local resident, who saw a lion at Cat Creek, photographed it and will find a copy of a century-old book, that will verify this claim. There is some "slight" basis to the story as the town's name suggests, and a statement was inserted in the article to explain the origin of the name: "Local legend had it that a cowboy roped a mountain lion in a creek flowing into the Musselshell River, giving rise to the name, Cat Creek." That statement is verified and can be double-checked in a number of authoritative sources on Montana history, but again, the incident is merely based on hearsay. FWiW Bzuk ( talk) 10:35, 25 April 2012 (UTC).
I spent some time reviewing an unusual, well maybe not so unusual, history of an editor, due to a slight interest in researching "fracking" technology now in use in further exploration in Cat Creek, Montana. I came across an editor whose contributions are nearly all in reverting or deleting any negative or controversial claims about this technology. Further, in delving deeper into the edit history, the pattern of deletion extended to any topic that involved political figures or current events in politics in the United States. The same concerns about the number of deletions led me to suspect a crusader was at work to "whitewash" articles. The same concern seems to be borne out by other editors. What is the process that administrators now follow in reviewing an editor's submissions for bias? FWiW Bzuk ( talk) 10:50, 25 April 2012 (UTC).
You can probably nuke them all now. Category: Uncategorized Stars and Galaxies have been cleaned out. Round 2 of this year's WikiCup is over, and so we are down to our final 32, in what could be called our quarter-finals. The two highest scorers from each pool, as well as the next 16 highest scorers overall, have entered round 3, while 30 participants have been eliminated. Pool B's Grapple X ( submissions) remains our top scorer with over 700 points; he continues to gain high numbers of points for his good articles on The X-Files, but also Millennium and other subjects. He has also gained points for a good topic, a featured list, multiple good article reviews and several did you knows. Pool E's Casliber ( submissions) was second, thanks primarily to his biology articles, with Pool H's Muboshgu ( submissions) coming in third, with an impressive 46 did you knows, mostly on the subject of baseball. Casliber and Cwmhiraeth both scored over 600 points. Pools E and H proved our most successful, with each seeing 5 members qualify for round 3, while Pools C and D were the least, with each seeing only 3 reach round 3. However, it was Pool G which saw the lowest scoring, with a little under 400 points combined; Pool H, the highest scoring group, saw over triple that score.
65 points was the lowest qualifying score for round 3; significantly higher than the 11 required to enter round 2, and also higher than the 41 required to reach round 3 last year. However, in 2010, 100 points were needed to secure a place in round 3. 16 will progress to round 4. In round 3, 150 points was the 16th highest score, though, statistically, people tend to up their game a little in later rounds. Last year, 76 points secured a place, while in 2010, a massive 250 points were needed. Guessing how many points will be required is not easy. We still have not seen any featured portals or topics this year, but, on the subject of less common content types, a small correction needs to be made to the previous newsletter: File:Wacht am Rhein map (Opaque).svg, our first featured picture, was the work of both Matthewedwards ( submissions) and Grandiose ( submissions), the latter of whom has also gone on to score with File:Map of the Battle of Guam, 1944.svg. Bonus points also continue to roll in; this round, Ealdgyth ( submissions) earned triple points for her good articles on William the Conqueror and the Middle Ages, Casliber and Cwmhiraeth both earned triple points for their work on Western Jackdaw, now a good article, Dana Boomer ( submissions) earned triple points for her work on lettuce and work by Stone ( submissions) to ready antimony for good article status earned him triple points. Jarry1250 ( submissions) managed to expand Vitus Bering far enough for a did you know, which was also worth triple points. All of these highly important topics featured on 50 or more Wikipedias at the start of the year.
An article on the WikiCup in the Wikimedia Blog, " Improving Wikipedia with friendly competition", was posted at the end of April. This may be of interest to those who are signed up to this newsletter, as well as serving as another way to draw attention to our project. Also, we would again like to thank Jarry1250 ( submissions) and Stone ( submissions), for continued help behind the scenes. As ever, if you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Take a look at Dangerous Moonlight where the classic Warsaw Concerto was composed for the film, but far eclipsed the film about a Polish pilot in the Battle of Britain, a film which has now virtually disappeared. Another interesting tidbit was that due to the need to have aerial scenes, the producers obtained actual combat footage from the RAF. In The Final Countdown, the production team not only obtained the cooperation of the U.S. Navy in 1980, who handed over the USS Nimitz, the aircraft carrier's crew were enlisted as extras as well as a number given actual speaking parts. In The One Who Got Away, the near-doc accurately portrays the story of the ONLY German military personnel that escaped from an Allied POW camp. In Bombs Over Burma (AKA The Devil's Sister), (1943) American propaganda film, to depict the Chinese character faithfully, the star, Anna May Wong and other characters, speak Mandarin in the first few minutes of the film. Not too unusual, except that Anna was born in the United States and never learned Chinese; she only looked the part and all of her other roles (including silent parts) never required her to speak Chinese; she did it by rote. Pilot No. 5 a cheesy propaganda film but features Gene Kelly in his first dramatic role and a Republic P-43! FWiW Bzuk ( talk) 00:32, 9 May 2012 (UTC).
What is the process for further discussion on CFD after it has been closed? With Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2012 April 28#Category:Articles needing images the only opposes were from contributors that have not been active in this area and I think not aware of the discussion that have taken place over the years on the subject. Yes the wording of this administration category on requests for images is a little annoying but that is what it is. Re-discovered this film last week, and was amazed at the feauturettes that accompanied the DVD, provided some fascinating background on what was the first film to try to accurately film a dogfight between two wholly dissimilar aircraft types: a 1940s era Mitsubishi Zero and 1980s era F-14 Tomcat fighters, scenes that nearly were disasters. The F-14 that "thumped" a Zero replica by coming under and up in front with full afterburner, caused the two Zeros in the air to tumble out of control, and by sheer dumb luck, fly at right angles away from each other as the pilots tried to wrestle the controls back, avoiding a fiery midair collision. The F-14 did a low pullup that ended just 100 ft above the ocean in a screaming recovery that was actually punctuated by the scream of the pilot's wife when she saw the daily rushes, interspersed by the sound editor into the high-pitched afterburner whine. FWiW, check it out, I did my usual mucking about on the article. Bzuk ( talk) 14:41, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
Did one from scratch as it just recently appeared on Turner Classic Movies. Found this film at my local aviation museum, never heard of it before but it was the first co-production of John Wayne's Batjac Productions films and Romina Productions, starring the chiseled, square-jaw movie idol, Victor Mature and the demure Li Hua Li. , then for last change, put 20120426
beside 'After (or exactly)' in the Last change section. You also would need to check 'by upload date' in the Sort section. I would really appreciate it if you would do this for me. Oh, and if you have created any new articles that the bot didn't recognize, you can add them. Thanks! --

Thank you for nominating this for DYK and getting it approved. To be honest, when I started writing the article I didn't know about the plutonium, diamonds, or that the pilots were charged with manslaughter. I had just created 1969 Keratea Olympic Airlines DC-6 crash about another crash in Greece, learned that a Swissair jet had also crashed when trying to land in Athens, and then decided to do an article on it. ...William 18:30, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Today, Richmond International Speedway announced that Capital City will be the sponsor of this weekend's race; therefore making it Capital City 400.
I have created one new category for the very distant (+5 redshifted galaxies), that have all occupied the title "most distant galaxy" at one point in time, and fixed the remainder of the obscure galaxies and stars that needed a little TLC.

Interesting antiwar drama that is linked back to the prolific John Monk Saunders who penned a number of aviation-themed films based on his experiences in World War I, including writing the screenplays and stories for Wings (1927) and The Dawn Patrol (1938). The thread is " The Black Album/Come On Feel the Dandy Warhols". Thank you. -- Neuroticguru ( talk) 16:39, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Do you need more photos of the AAI design, including closeups of the well deck it has? Also, the link back to flickr no longer works because I deleted the photos from my Flickr stream since they were in the 'scrap photo' category because I couldn't ID the boat type initially. I need to upload them again now that I've properly IDed it. - RyanCrierie ( talk) 06:46, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
Found this film at my local aviation museum, never heard of it before but it was the first co-production of John Wayne's Batjac Productions films and Romina Productions, starring the chiseled, square-jaw movie idol, Victor Mature and the demure Li Hua Li. An interesting film, not the least because it represented the return to film of award-winning director Frank Borzage, who may have been blacklisted as communist sympathizer during the McCarthy Red Scare. I understand why it has been deleted, but it just comlepetely pointless thing to do, to just throw away 400 well sourced reports. Please return the page if you can because it was a usefull page and it is more beneficial if it exists. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stumink ( talk • contribs) 10:15, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
Hi, I'm encountering internet problems and would like to know if you would help me complete the
May newsletter. I use
Catscan rewrite to find recent photos, but it isn't loading (I'm hoping it is just a internet problem for me). If you have time before May 25, could you scan through Category:NASCAR on Wikimedia Commons to find the newer images and add them to the newsletter? For categories you add NASCAR
, then for last change, put 20120426
beside 'After (or exactly)' in the Last change section. You also would need to check 'by upload date' in the Sort section. I would really appreciate it if you would do this for me. Oh, and if you have created any new articles that the bot didn't recognize, you can add them. Thanks! --

See someone on a campaign/crusade to right wrongs?? Blogspam? they don't pay me enough. It's so tough to find contemporary reviews of classic films and when the moderator-administered Turner Classic Movies (as opposed to IMDb entirely volunteer- and fan-run) had provided the link to a review site, it is an endorsement of the site as RS. I've just reviewed the Tia Norfleet DYK. It looks fine but the article seems to be a sentence or so too short. I don't have much experience as a reviewer- I just write articles- so I could be wrong. Tigerboy1966 12:06, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
Why is this out of date? This race has not been held since 2008. Are you confusing with Gold Coast 600? -- Falcadore ( talk) 01:11, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
Give me a heads up. :) I'll feed you some tacos! Benkenobi18 ( talk) 21:34, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
Kinda a strange set of edits from an established and respected editor who obviously wanted to announce an event taking place in Ottawa. What was becoming apparent was that a pattern of "close paraphrasing" was occurring. Not sure what to do when there is a "regular" involved, as the templating the regulars is not appreciated (I know). FWiW Bzuk ( talk) 21:42, 27 May 2012 (UTC).
On 28 May 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Eddie Sharp, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Eddie Sharp raced hydroplanes before winning the 1999 ARCA Racing Series championship as a crew chief? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Eddie Sharp. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page ( here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

I really don't know, but this edit at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Michael de la Force puzzled me along with blanking a section of another editor's talkpage here. I guess they're doing a vanishing of sorts? Shearonink ( talk) 22:55, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
Can you please have a look at this conversation? It seems someone posted a hoax article, it was quickly nominated as CSD, but then a well-meaning editor took it to AFD instead, concerned that someone would remove the CSD tag (he did!). Can this AFD be speedily closed? - Ahunt ( talk) 15:28, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
