If I have one overriding challenge on this site, it's having a clinically fucked-up memory. The upshot of my dissociative condition is that I tend to index things by topic, not by time, such that I can drop something for months and then pick up right where I left off. Here, in an environment where that would at times not be acceptable, I force myself to respond promptly to admin accountability inquiries and time-sensitive editorial concerns... but otherwise I often let things linger. And I'd told myself that that wasn't hurting anyone, and I guess I was right in the direct sense, because I've never been slow to respond to something where someone was owed a speedy response. But the quote from Gough got me to see it a bit differently. I've gotten a lot of WikiLove and often I've just never gotten around to responding to it, and that does have a harm in its own way, because it fails to create the circuit someone tried to initiate. And as much as I'd like to blame that all on a shitty memory, maybe some of it is a feeling that I don't deserve that gratitude. But that's unfair to the people who've felt I do deserve it.So, going back to November... @ EducatedRedneck: Thank you. That means a lot. It was a tough situation. @ Liz: Thanks, trying my best not to blow anything up. @ Drmies: mu. @ Unexpectedlydian: Glad to help. @ ReneeWrites: Thanks! Got the article to GA right after that! One of my proudest. @ GabberFlasted: Glad to help! @ PaulHammond: Thanks.I had, essentially, given my story as a gift to a couple of hundred million people all around the world [...]; but I had refused to allow any of them to give me anything in return. And that was a kind of arrogance, too. A blockage in the flow of love.
Indeed, I had actively hidden away from love. [...] I frequently got Twitter DMs, and emails, and messages through my website, that told me how much the End Poem had meant to people. [...] All kinds of beautiful, generous, vulnerable messages. But, often, too overwhelmed by emotion [...], I wouldn't even reply.
[... T]he universe told me that it wasn’t acceptable for me to give love, but then refuse to receive it. That was just fake humility; another form of arrogance, of ego. I had to allow people to say thank you; I had to accept whatever gifts people might wish to offer in return, because too much charge was building up along that blocked circuit.
I had to complete the circuit. Let it flow.

GRuban: Thanks. P.S. I always feel like it's tacky to thank someone for !voting "per" oneself, but in this case I did less for the agreement and more because it's been ages since anyone picked the third pronoun option. I've been working today on a piece of fiction where a lot of the characters take Spivak pronouns, and was thinking about how neglected my poor neopronouns are. Thanks for looking after them... Maybe someday they'll fix the Echo bug that forced me to randomize the order in my signature. Or... hey, Sammy, would some sysadmin yell at me if I wrote a script to change my signature every minute? -- Tamzin cetacean needed (she|they|xe) 01:30, 28 June 2023 (UTC)

Well, I just finished your GA review. Because you have worked so hard, it was not a difficult task. Well done on a great piece of work. I came here to congratulate you and saw the above drama. It also made me recall - we have "interacted" in the sense I opposed your RFA.
I've decided to leave some love for a few reasons.
First, I was inexperienced at voting there and I do not think my vote was quite fair in hindsight. While I remain opposed to what you had said about being open to desysoping Trump supporters (or whatever it was you said, and keep in mind I do not like him either), there was no evidence I had to support a presumption you may be biased in future.
Second, if I were to vote again, I'd support this time.
Third, I liked working with you, even if only briefly. You are nice!
Fourth, you write amazing content, and if that is not a reason to let someone know they are valued on Wikipedia, I do not know what is.
Happy tenth anniversary Tamzin. You are kind, you are doing your best, and that is all anyone can ask.
“When in the evening we are alone with our most existential thoughts, it is then that we come face to face with the most precious truths that we discover in our brief existence in this world. Just before fatigue envelopes us, taking us into sleep. We think of what our lives actually mean. And then we know how lucky we are if we still enjoy consciousness, rationality and love. But the greatest of these is love.” ― Michael Kirby
