Orlovsky District ( Russian: Орло́вский райо́н) is an administrative [1] and municipal [4] district ( raion), one of the forty-three in Rostov Oblast, Russia. It is located in the southeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 3,300 square kilometers (1,300 sq mi).[ citation needed] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a settlement) of Orlovsky. [1] Population: 40,894 ( 2010 Census); [2] 41,768 ( 2002 Census); [6] 39,386 ( 1989 Soviet census). [7] The population of the administrative center accounts for 48.9% of the district's total population. [2]
