Chertkovsky District ( Russian: Чертко́вский райо́н) is an administrative [1] and municipal [4] district ( raion), one of the forty-three in Rostov Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,766 square kilometers (1,068 sq mi). [2] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a settlement) of Chertkovo. [1] Population: 36,680 ( 2010 Census); [3] 39,974 ( 2002 Census); [6] 40,355 ( 1989 Soviet census). [7] The population of Chertkovo accounts for 29.5% of the district's total population. [3]
