Lopatinsky District ( Russian: Лопа́тинский райо́н) is an administrative [1] and municipal [4] district ( raion), one of the twenty-seven in Penza Oblast, Russia. It is located in the southeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,440 square kilometers (560 sq mi).[ citation needed] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Lopatino. [1] Population: 14,942 ( 2010 Census); [2] 16,190 ( 2002 Census); [6] 17,838 ( 1989 Soviet census). [7] The population of Lopatino accounts for 29.4% of the district's total population. [2]
