Welcome to my talk page. Please leave me a message below and I will generally reply on your talk page. Although my email address is enabled, I do not check often (so I may be slow in replying to email and very much prefer to have conversations here). Please note that while I am glad to do a peer review on just about any article, it will often take me several days or a week or more, and I do not have the time to do copyedits (sorry). If you want me to review an article, please open a peer review on it. Thanks for stopping by and happy editing! Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:07, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Admin help needed

Wow - your page is empty! I think I need some advice about user subpages. Somehow I seem to have created a redirect User:Truthkeeper88/Vincent van Gogh sandbox when I renamed the page to something else. Can the redirect be eliminated or deleted somehow or will that delete the page with the new name, and the redirect just sits there? Honestly, I have no clue what I've done and it just goes to show how clueless I am about adminy types of actions. Hope you're well by the way. Truthkeeper ( talk) 21:17, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Um, no source, no license. -- Hammersoft ( talk) 18:35, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

Ruhrfisch is away at the moment. Can you clarify what your query with this image is, or what action you are requesting? Source and licence details are present on the image page. Brianboulton ( talk) 09:16, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks Brian - I switched the picture in the blurb for Pilgrim at Tinker Creek when it was on the Main Page as the TFA. When I first copied the picture here from Commons, I did not copy all the data that is on the Commons page. I fixed it, and then deleted the image here (on WP) after the TFA was done. Some work and a request

Hi Ruhr, I hope you are well.

I've been doing some work the last few days and I was wondering, if you have a moment sometime, if you could take a look at User:IvoShandor/Christmas Tree Promotion, Research, and Information Order and give me your assessment concerning NPOV? I think it's pretty solid, but another perspective always helps - especially since I'm not exactly on the fence about how feel concerning the issue. Thanks in advance. Take care. Pennsylvania townships and attrition

If you care about the naming conventions for PA townships (specifically, having the county name included in all article names), see the comment by Hmains at the bottom of my newly-made talk page archive. If you don't want to get to the point of questioning your further involvement at Wikipedia, be careful to stay away from it completely. I'm doing my best to drop out of the issue; Bkonrad's WP:OWN warring in defiance and in ridicule of naming conventions has ground me down to the point that I don't care, and I want to remain ignorant of how things have ended up. Incidents such as this, in which individuals intentionally ignore established naming conventions and attempt to randomise our article titles (if you care, see the harassment I got on my talk page for enforcing WP:CONLIMITED on an attempt to move Beverley Hills, California in defiance of WP:USPLACE), almost got me to the point of {{ retired}}. I figure that I'm just going to forget about watchlists for the near future (and perhaps not-so-near) because our lack of a means to enforce projectwide consensus on small groups of wilful individuals permits them to gang up on the occasional individual who cares about following projectwide consensus. Farrandsville

I used your very good furnace image in Farrandsville, Pennsylvania, an article I created today. I have some doubts about having duplicated much of the information in Farrandsville Iron Furnace, yet the place does seem to me to deserve its own article. I've been meaning to do one ever since working on the Pennsylvania Canal (West Branch Division) article years ago. I think I may be able to add a bit more. I vaguely remember a boat named Farrand; I probably have that info somewhere. If you have a skyline photo of Farrandsville, that might be more village-like than the furnace. I meant to get up there with my camera but never made it. Maybe 21st-century Farrandsville has no skyline. Ansonia did not seem to have one. Finetooth ( talk) 04:51, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the other two pix. I like your furnace photo so much, I will leave it in and think of it as a skyline. I found the ref to Farrand and added it to the village article. Added a few more details to Cammal too. Quaint villages, remnants of long-ago booms of extraction. Finetooth ( talk) 23:01, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
Good catch on the CCC camp. I looked at it with my own eyes only a few weeks ago but forgot about it. I've now added a CCC paragraph. Finetooth ( talk) 16:47, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
I found and ordered a used copy of Owlett today. I'm pretty sure it will have bits of information about Ansonia and some of the other villages as well. I have more to add to Cedar Run (the village) but haven't gotten to it yet. I noticed that someone had added a bunch of unsourced, largely repetitious stuff to the bottom of Pine Creek Gorge. It appears that whoever did that did not bother to read the rest of the article. Sigh. I removed some of the most egregious stuff, but fixing the rest will take more time and thought. Wikipedia:Peer review/Look Mickey/archive1

It seems that Wikipedia:Peer review/Look Mickey/archive1 got reviewed while I was dealing with virus issues by trying to system restore my machine. System restore sets your browser history back to the date of the restoration. The tab I had opened with the PR review got lost in the shuffle. The page also fell down the page on my watch list and I forgot that the review had occurred. The closing edit brought the page back to the top of my watch list. I now intend to begin responding to this review. Can the review be reopened at this time? I have forgotten whether this is a situation where you undo the final edit and wait for an indication that I would like to close the review or whether this can be fully undone and restored as an active review.-- TonyTheTiger ( T/ C/ BIO/ WP:CHICAGO/ WP:FOUR) 13:11, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

Request for help with image licensing

Hello Ruhrfisch; another editor has suggested that you might be able to help with the licensing of an image that apparently does not as of yet meet the criteria for a FAR. It is a photo (shown) of a bronze monument of Anne Hutchinson done by Cyrus Dallin in 1915 (dedicated in 1922). Dallin died in 1944. I've noticed that Dallin's works are included in many articles throughout wikipedia, so the question is, is there a license we can use for a photograph of this piece of art? Truthkeeper suggested that with your experience you might have some insights on this. Many thanks. Sarnold17 ( talk) 22:16, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Thanks very much with the licensing of this photo. I didn't have a clue what to do. Sarnold17 ( talk) 09:12, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

Notifying you that I've submitted to FAR. [2]. That might be a good place to document the history of the article - then it's on the page. Should have thought one through earlier. Truthkeeper ( talk) 00:15, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Main page appearance: Worlds End State Park

This is a note to let the main editors of Worlds End State Park know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on December 21, 2012. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/December 21, 2012. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 ( talk · contribs) or his delegates Dabomb87 ( talk · contribs), Gimmetoo ( talk · contribs), and Bencherlite ( talk · contribs), or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:

Worlds End State Park

Worlds End State Park is a 780-acre (316 ha) Pennsylvania state park in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. The park, nearly surrounded by Loyalsock State Forest, is in the Loyalsock Creek valley, just east of the borough of Forksville. The name Worlds End has been used since at least 1872, but its origins are uncertain and the park was officially known as Whirls End State Forest Park from 1936 to 1943. The park's land was once home to Native Americans, followed by settlers who cleared the land for subsistence farming and later built sawmills. The second growth forests in and surrounding Worlds End State Park are partially a result of the efforts of the young men of the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. They helped overcome the clearcutting of the early 20th century, and built many of the facilities that have earned the park a place on the National Register of Historic Places. A wide variety of wildlife is found in the park, which is also part of an Important Bird Area. The park offers year-round recreational opportunities, including environmental education, hiking, camping in tents and cabins, whitewater rafting, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing. Image swap advice

A featured picture on commons

This image is featured on commons. I can not figure its best use on WP in Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Millennium Park and/or Frank Gehry, for starters. The problem may be that I am comparing it to a lot of images that I photographed myself. Some more objective eyes might see a better use for such an artistic image.-- TonyTheTiger ( T/ C/ BIO/ WP:CHICAGO/ WP:FOUR) 05:42, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

Your attempt did not look so good in high-resolution (I view at 1600x900 on my primary laptop and slightly wider on my backup laptop). The new image was getting jammed down to oppose the last image in the section. I have moved the last image up for alternating images in that section, but then the next section starts back on the same side. I am contemplating putting these two images in a Template:Multiple image template on the right side.-- TonyTheTiger ( T/ C/ BIO/ WP:CHICAGO/ WP:FOUR) 14:48, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
I have thought about squeezing it in at Trellis (architecture) or Latticework. However, I don't actually believe it is as illustrative as the former immages that were included prior to this edit. Should that edit be restored? Should this image be added?-- TonyTheTiger ( T/ C/ BIO/ WP:CHICAGO/ WP:FOUR) 15:00, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

WV county list

Many thanks! I think you are reading my mind as it were especially about the VA counties that might have been split for the creation of the state, which I can get, the caption idea is great, (thanks again) and of course, linking counties will be a priority. I very much appreciate the attention the list is getting Coal town guy ( talk) 22:43, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

UPDATE, I did a quick review of my texts here at the house, None of the current WV counties were formed by taking land from existing VA counties after June of 1863 at the time WV became a state. Additionally, VA gave no partial land from its counties at the time of W statehood. SO, I can say the counties in WV, in 1863, 50, were whole counties and the 5 erxtra after statehood were from WV. Sorry this is obviously a labor of love for me...BUT I will remain encyclopedic.....Of note, the strangest dailect of German I could never ever get was called Platt, its in the northern most part of Germany. Hey, I took a look at a number of FL for countuies, I noted that some, including Florida, do NOT have a reference (external) within the Etymology section when it pertains to a person. IF Wikipedia has an article, and IF that article contains the Birth, Death, and of cource relevant date that they were named after a specific county, do I (yay or nay) need an external reference for that person???

As to citing refs, thats going to be fun, but is very doable. I will of course have to ask another copy edit after that, which would be REALLY cool of you to do. I started this because I saw some questions about persons death dates in failed FL. Did I wrongly conclude that I needed an external reference for that person?
