Lane, I've noticed you use the ... in your edit summaries. This website says, "Because an ellipsis does not necessarily mean the same thing in all instances of its appearance, the reader must be responsible for deciphering the meaning of its presence." For me, now I just ignore the ellipses when I see them in your edit summary, but only because I say to myself, "O that's just what Lane does." =) But they used to make me wonder a bit when I would see them. I imagine they could do the same for others as well. Perhaps you could stop using them? That would be my preference, to be honest. =) I understand it's probably a habit for you now. Anyhow, feel free to disregard. I just wanted to share my ideas. Best regards. Biosthmors ( talk) 10:37, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

Greetings!
I am a student at the University of Puget Sound, and our library (the Collins Memorial Library) is considering hosting a Wikipedia Loves Libraries event! The only problem is, we're not really sure where to start. I have been busy doing some research (on Wikipedia) about the events other libraries have held across that nation, and I managed to stumble across your username when it had the word "Seattle" near it. I was hoping perhaps you could share some suggestions on the "dos" and "do nots" of Wikipedia meetups. I'm not a Wikimedian myself (in fact I only created an account so I could send you this) so any information would be helpful. Also, if you know any local Wikimedians (Tacoma, Seattle, or the surrounding areas) who might be interested in the event, their coordination would be appreciated. Again, we're still not certain whether or not the event will be happening, but we have great hope it will.
Thank you! MattinaMorgan ( talk) 22:05, 12 September 2013 (UTC)morgan

Hi Lane,
I think Amanda Rust of Northeastern University has been in touch already, but the Center is seeking a Wikipedian to train volunteers to edit pages relevant to the history of medicine as part of its edit-a-thon on October 22. At the event, volunteers will author pages for a number of the creators for special collections we hold, principally individuals from the Harvard Medical School community, as well as pages for individuals related to the Warren Anatomical Museum (curators). The notable public health figure in this proposed group is Richard P. Strong, the first professor of tropical medicine at Harvard. (See, for example, films from his 1934 African Expedition in our Omeka instance, OnView: http://collections.countway.harvard.edu/onview/items/show/6157). Hello Bluerasberry! I'm glad to have found a similarly-thinking Wikipedian! Your statement "a catch-all for regional health care providers and related medical organizations, including individual physicians, companies, medical schools, health care legislation, and perhaps other things" is exactly what I had in mind when I proposed the task force. I think there are quite a few benefits, including having a hub where lay med editors can editor relevant articles, as well as collecting statistics on these articles and grouping them together, and identifyinh & rectifying common issues. If you're interested, I'd really value some help setting it up, perhaps by creating the categories and some of the pages as per here: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Medicine/Task_forces#Task_force_creation_guidelines. (It's an awful lot for one editor). I would propose this on the talk page, but I feel there's enough interest amongst editors I am willing to create and announce this after (and even if there isn't that many editors, it's not a world-changing activity anyway). During the discussion of my additions to the Cholera article, you asked if I had planned to stay and make further edits. I had not initially budgeted more time to work on the article, but I am not closed off to the idea. However, I am a student, and final exam season is rapidly approaching. Hi Lane,
I hope life has been going well with you since the GLAM Bootcamp; it was good to meet you there. I noticed that you are a member of WikiProject Cooperation. Might you have time to review my post here? Any advice or input you are willing to provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
During the discussion of my additions to the Cholera article, you asked if I had planned to stay and make further edits. I had not initially budgeted more time to work on the article, but I am not closed off to the idea. However, I am a student, and final exam season is rapidly approaching. If I make further edits to the article, it will be in a few weeks after exams are over and I have more time. Thank you for your advice!

Psoriasis is the COTM and looks like we have some interest this month. Are you interested in using your skills in bringing the treatment section into shape? Many thanks, Lesion ( talk) 07:23, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for acting as the Wikipedia Ambassador for my Darwinian Medicine course this past semester. It was a real eye opener. Should I do anything to formally end the course? It no longer shows up in the list of current courses so it may already be archived or deleted. Sanetti ( talk) 19:54, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
Your last edit to Template:Open access file of the day introduced a non-existing DOI. Possibly there is some mistake here. Can you please explain this to me, or fix it? Debresser ( talk) 04:18, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Health information on the Internet may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.
Thanks, BracketBot ( talk) 21:51, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
hi there, thank you for your cup. I hope it wasn't meant ironically? I thought it was a more sound name to the old one. Gryffindor ( talk) 20:43, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your comments on a previous version of the new draft of the (formerly known as Welcome to Wikipedia, now known as) Editing Wikipedia brochure. We need all final comments on the draft by Monday, 23 December 2013. Add any final comments here! -- LiAnna Davis (WMF) ( talk) 23:52, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
