On 9 September 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Sailor Moon (North American live-action adaptation), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that there were two failed attempts to adapt Sailor Moon into a Western live-action series? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Sailor Moon (North American live-action adaptation). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page ( here's how, Sailor Moon (North American live-action adaptation)), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. In a routine check of my deleted contributions I an article that got the axe a while back. It was apparently done via request for undeletion on G13 grounds - which is fine, articles for the most part deserve a second chance at life - however what caught my attention was the requesting account. The requesting account was BiochemistryMajor2016, while a previous version I had tagged and seen deleted on copyvio grounds came on site again when CCFT Historian published the article. If you look at the contributions between the two I see both seem interested in this particular person, and both versions of the article use the same imageamd when I take a closer look at CCFT Historian and BiochemistryMajor2016, the latter made the unblock request but the former claims the first edit for creation according to the logs, both accounts it seems are claiming this as their first article, which could suggest foul play. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year, ReaderofthePack!
The other day, I was having a conversation with someone about holiday cards and social media. It occurred to me that, in the years since I left Facebook, the site I use most to communicate with people I like isn't actually a social media site at all. If you're receiving this, it's pretty likely I've talked with you more recently than I have my distant relatives and college friends on FB, at very least, and we may have even collaborated on something useful. Can you help write the lead/plot sections. I am not good with non-Indian films. DareshMohan ( talk) 11:48, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
Hello, ReaderofthePack. I'm back again after months of inactivity. After I logged in with a computer than runs Windows 11 (due to the fact that Windows 7 had its support ended by 2023 and I used to edit with a computer that runs the latter one) and reverted the skin to Vector Legacy (because Vector (2022) as Wikipedia's default skin makes me uncomfortable when reading texts and attempting to search anything), I want to inform you about a sockpuppeteer.
I remember that I was less active in Wikipedia because I was busy. One day, an user that is a fan of both Amphibia and Jurassic Park merely added a template claiming that it is written from a fan's point of view and submitted my draft again, only to have this unexpected submission declined. In response, I had sent a message in this user's talk page where I asked for explanations. Despite receiving my message, the user disregarded my advices and continued to attempt to turn drafts into live articles without taking any considerations, as well as uploading copyright files to excess. As a result, the user's contributions proved to be their undoing by being blocked.
After this user was blocked, the user became a sockpuppeter in order to resume their attempt to turn drafts into live articles, regardless of their conditions. Yesterday, the user used an IP address to unexplainably remove text that indicated when the short film André appeared was released. This turns out to be my last straw, as I didn't hesitate to denounce this sockpuppeteer's actions by complaining about its behaviour.
I don't think that blocking this IP address is sufficient to stop this once for all. It is important to revert the sockpuppets' edits to the last revision prior to this. In addition, the sockpuppeteer deserves a topic ban. What do you think of this situation?-- André the Android( talk) 18:20, 21 January 2023 (UTC)

So ends the first round of the 2023 WikiCup. Everyone with a positive score moved on to Round 2, with 54 contestants qualifying. The top scorers in Round 1 were:
The top sixteen contestants at the end of Round 1 had all scored over 300 points; these included LunaEatsTuna, Thebiguglyalien, Sammi Brie, Trainsandotherthings, Lee Vilenski, Juxlos, Unexpectedlydian, SounderBruce, Kosack, BennyOnTheLoose and PCN02WPS. It was a high-scoring start to the competition.
These contestants, like all the others, now have to start again from scratch. The first round finished on February 26. Remember that any content promoted after that date but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Some contestants made claims before the new submissions pages were set up, and they will need to resubmit them. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed.
If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! I don't expect you to remember me, I was one of your students through User:Shalor (Wiki Ed). Thank you for helping me along with starting on Wikipedia, you inspired me to stick around. You once once warned me about the GA process, now I'm a regular GA reviewer and have a handful of GAs to my name. I wanted to thank you for being rather instrumental in getting me started, its been a fun ride here. Etrius ( Us) 04:27, 27 December 2022 (UTC) |
Can you please unprotect the ' Niall horan' article (with a lowercase 'h') from creation so I can create a redirect for it to the ' Niall Horan' article (with an uppercase 'H')? PK2 ( talk) 00:31, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2023 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor you should be able to advance to at least the second round, improving your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page. Signups will close at the end of January, and the first round will end on 26 February; the 64 highest scorers at that time will move on to round 2. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Sturmvogel 66 ( talk · contribs · email) and Cwmhiraeth ( talk · contribs · email). Good luck! MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 14:16, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

Hello ReaderofthePack: Did you know ... that back in 1885, Wikipedia editors wrote Good Articles with axes, hammers and chisels? Thank you for your contributions to this encyclopedia using 21st century technology. I hope you don't get any unnecessary
blisters. |
Thank you for your additions to A Pickle for the Knowing Ones. This is one of my first articles, so the help means a lot, and it looks like you put in a lot of time on the Talk page. I've submitted the page for peer review here, and would like to get it to GA at some point in the future. Thank you for your help! - MyCatIsAChonk ( talk) 03:12, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! My Wikipedia Page is Larry D. Thomas. Back in 2020, you were generously involved in improving my page re: a conflict of interest situation. To avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest, I am requesting assistance in adding an award to the "Awards" section of my page. I was privileged to win the 2023 Spur Award for Best Western Poem. The award is sponsored by Western Writers of America and is one of the top national awards for literature about the historical or contemporary American West. For reference and verification purposes, please consult the Web page for Western Writers of America, Spur Awards.
If there is anything else I may do to assist you, please advise and I shall be happy to do so.
Most respectfully,

The second round of the 2023 WikiCup has now finished. Contestants needed to have scored 60 points to advance into round 3. Our top five scorers in round 2 all included a featured article among their submissions and each scored over 500 points. They were:
Other notable performances were put in by Sammi Brie, Thebiguglyalien, MyCatIsAChonk, PCN02WPS, and AirshipJungleman29.
So far contestants have achieved thirteen featured articles between them, one being a joint effort, and forty-nine good articles. The judges are pleased with the thorough reviews that are being performed, and have hardly had to reject any. As we enter the third round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Women in Red 8th Anniversary | |
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! Join us for some virtual cake and add comments or memories and please keep on editing to close the gap! |

Hi! You reviewed Venus in fiction when it was at WP:FAC last year ( Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Venus in fiction/archive1). It has now been nominated again, see Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Venus in fiction/archive2. If you are interested in weighing in on the new FAC, your input would be appreciated.
