Hi Jim, I am hoping I can ask your help. I am devastated as I worked for three hours adding 27 references to the Let It Be Art draft page and took care of the copyright information needed and adding it all to the draft and it said to publish these changes and I pushed the button - it all disappeared on me. I had previously addressed the other page that told me about a speedy deletion and explained why the page should not be deleted. And I went to work on remedying the situation. But now I can't find all my work and it appears a blank page was submitted when I thought everything I had worked on was being placed in for review. Is there any way to retrieve it? The solo play, Let It Be Art!, has represented the United States in many international theater festivals in its 20th year, including the World Theatre Olympics and has had 3 critically-acclaimed Off-Broadway productions. I would be most grateful for help and assistance. FitwithJan Fitwithjan ( talk) 19:38, 9 September 2019 (UTC)

Out of pure curiosity I checked Lmatt's contributions. I noticed the account became active in 2005, some periods of silence, a few edits in 2017 and 2019 and then they came on like gangbusters in 2019. Most of the edits had to do with Gun laws (i. national and nternational) causing me to muse of an association with the NRA (irrelevant), HoweverLmat became very active and disruptive over the subject of LGBTQ and Transgender which leads me to speculate that this sudden and dramatic shift in attention might indicate a hacking of an account. I am fully aware that editors can do the same to me, check my contributions and form a picture of who I am and my interests. Thanks for letting me know that non free use rationales for book covers can only be used for articles, rather than for biographical articles about the author.
Are there any templates which cover book covers for biographical articles I could follow?

It is humanely impossible for one person to be so active on any given day, it is professional and focused on N Korea/China. It is a new account that started about12 July 2019. and they are already at an edit level of proficiency that makes anyone envious, even creating an article (stub) that passed on it's first go, then nominating an article for GA. US Banknote Contest |
![]() |
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |

I agree with your comment, at Wikipedia_talk:What_Wikipedia_is_not/Archive_56#The_acronym_WP:NOTNEWS_should_be_retired_for_"WP:NOTTRIVIALNEWS" that wikinews may be a failed project.
I didn't know its alexa score, so thanks for that.
I made a dozen or so good faith attempts to get articles published there. Some made it, but the process was extremely painful. Many didn't get published, and the drafts deleted. Generally, it seemed to me that an existing clique weren't making the effort to explain their rules; or, worse, were cryptically invoking wikinews-only rules that were not actually applicable. By the time one could get one of the members of the existing clique to explain themselves, or acknowledge that a tag was inappropriate, the article would be ruled stale.
One guy, a wikinews bureaucrat, threatened to block me, not for incivility, or a violation of their rules, but for asking too many questions.
I thought, back when I got the outrageous block threat, that the clique who didn't want newcomers to use wikinews resources, were risking the WMF deciding the project no longer measured up to the criteria for using WMF resources.

Hi. You may want to take a closer look at the IP user that originated the report at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#37.236.117.11, 180.183.22.224. A few minutes after that report, they created Draft:A place of polygon has 5978° with the same content about which they were complaining (I've tagged it CSD-G1). Seeing that, I looked at their history and I'm not sure what's going on, but it's not good. this edit and the edit-war going on on that userspace page is apparently related. Sorry to bother if you or someone else is already on top of it. —[ AlanM1( talk)]— 08:52, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
Hi Jim
I'm new to wiki editing and I have to confess I'm a little confused. I saw the article about historical Jesus and found that the first 4 citations in it were incorrect. I've actually bought the sources and found that they do not say what the authors of the article attempt to attribute to them.
I tried to correct this. Only to see that you have reverted it back to the original and said that I should reach "consensus" in "talk". That makes no sense to me because whoever has put these incorrect quotes in did so without reaching any consensus.
So a person can make up a claim, write it in an article, use any random citation (which doesn't support the claim) and the article will stand until somebody reaches consensus to change it?
I am a long time wiki user and a financial contributor. What I see at this point is disappointing as it undermines the encyclopaedia's credibility.
Would you please let me know what I can do to fix that article? Allocutus ( talk) 05:54, 3 November 2019 (UTC)
Hi again Jim
I tried to reply to your response to me here but there was no button for that! How do I reply???
I've read the FAQ you've linked me to. I saw someone say that in order to claim consensus, one must link to a source that states that there is consensus.
Again, the sources linked in the article DO NOT say that there is a consensus.
You also make a reference to an archive discussion. Where can I find that???
Thanks Martin (Allocutus) PS I wasn't suggesting that as a contributor I get some sort of privilege. If that's how you took it, you misunderstood :) Allocutus ( talk) 07:27, 3 November 2019 (UTC) my

Thanks for letting me know that non free use rationales for book covers can only be used for articles, rather than for biographical articles about the author.
Are there any templates which cover book covers for biographical articles I could follow?
Thanks for any advice you can give. I already had one attempt at uploading the cover deleted :(

I don'tknow where to go with this, but it appears that this is a multi user account. It appears to be a mainland China operation. Care to take a look, tell me if I am seeing things? Oldperson ( talk) 16:53, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

Hi Jim/Cullen328 - I just wanted to say that I'm very sorry for your loss of Dexter. 12 years is a long time to grow attached to a good friend. He(?) looks as though it would have been very easy to get attached. All my best to you and your wife in the tough days ahead. — Ched ( talk) 05:02, 19 October 2019 (UTC)

US Banknote Contest |
![]() |
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||

Hi Cullen. When you get a few minutes could you have a look at the recent edits by user:Volunteer Marek on Jack Posobiec and Talk:Jack Posobiec, both of which I believe are disruptive on multiple levels. This editor has a long history of problematic editing and a block log longer than my arm. Political topics appear to be a persistent area of trouble. In the meanwhile I am going to request an CU for user:Ihuntrocks. Thanks... - Ad Orientem ( talk) 00:06, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
