The third round of the 2021 WikiCup has now come to an end. Each of the sixteen contestants who made it into the fourth round had at least 294 points, and our top six scorers all had over 600 points. They were:
In round three, contestants achieved 19 featured articles, 7 featured lists, 106 featured article reviews, 72 good articles, 1 good topic, 62 good article reviews, 165 DYKs and 96 ITN items. We enter the fourth round with scores reset to zero; any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them (one contestant in round 3 lost out because of this). When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Hello
I am the author of the following biographical information about Patrick Sky which you removed:
1) Having become increasingly disillusioned with the music business, Sky relocated from New York City to Perryville, a small town in South Kingstown, Rhode Island.
and
2) the following year
I understand the importance of including citations. It is unfortunate that I am unable to provide anything other than personal recollection to support my statement. However, as a longtime personal friend and former business partner of Patrick Sky, I would hope my remembrances would hold considerable weight.
When I met him in 1970, after his move to the aforementioned small town where I lived with my mother and younger brother, he was quite disillusioned with the music business in New York and frustrated with being unable to achieve the level of success he believe he deserved. He was always ready to express these sentiments and often did, particularly after he'd had a few drinks.
These emotions also found expression in the songs he was writing at the time, several of which would be recorded the following spring to be included on his album, "Songs That Made America Famous." These were quite ribald and amusing, for those whose senses of humor could accommodate their scatological nature. The album was intended to be a sort of artistic revenge on the "suits" in the recording industry, who were hampering his creative freedom, to hear him tell it - or at least the musical equivalent of flipping them off. The irony of his being unable to put out the record for two years was not lost on him, and was a source of both frustration and amusement, confirming his cynicism.
Again, I am unable to provide any published source for these recollections. This is regrettable, as they are true and accurate, and deserve to be included in the story of has life and career. Unfortunately, of the four people mentioned in this remembrance, I am the only one still alive. All I can think of to support what I've said are two circumstantial references:
1) The opening paragraph of Loudon Wainwright's book, "The Charlie Poole Project" (mentioned, though not by name, in the Talk on this subject), which places Patrick in Perryville in the early 1970s;
2) The inclusion of the following phrase in the "Thank You's" part of the liner notes of the above album: "And all the crazy friends in Rhode Island, and wherever they are." We were among those crazy friends.
If it's at all useful, I wrote a piece about him upon hearing of his passing which serves as a eulogy, and posted it to The Mandolin Café Forum https://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/threads/155319-Patrick-Sky-RIP/ as well as on my facebook page. I doubt these would serve as true references; I merely mention them by way of reinforcing my assertion of their truth.
I apologize for the length of this post. I believe I've never engaged in this sort of discussion before, or if I have, it wouldn't have been about a subject that means this much to me. I trust you can see that is the case here, and hope that will inspire you to reconsider your decision and restore the deleted passage.
If you do indeed to do so, I suggest including the date, for the sake of clarity, thus:
1) Having become increasingly disillusioned with the music business, in 1970, Sky relocated from New York City to Perryville, a small town in South Kingstown, Rhode Island.
The following phrase thus performs adequately.
2) the following year
My only interest is in doing whatever I can to help tell Patrick Sky's story as completely and accurately as possible.
Thank you.

The fourth round of the competition has finished with over 500 points being required to qualify for the final round. It was a hotly competitive round with two contestants, The Rambling Man and Epicgenius, each scoring over 3000 points, and six contestants scoring over 1000. All but one of the finalists achieved one or more FAs during the round, the exception being Bloom6132 who demonstrated that 61 "in the news" items produces an impressive number of points. Other contestants who made it to the final are Gog the Mild, Lee Vilenski, BennyOnTheLoose, Amakuru and Hog Farm. However, all their points are now swept away and everyone starts afresh in the final round.
Round 4 saw the achievement of 18 featured articles and 157 good articles. Bilorv scored for a 25-article good topic on Black Mirror but narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final round. There was enthusiasm for FARs, with 89 being performed, and there were 63 GARs and around 100 DYKs during the round. As we start round 5, we say goodbye to the eight competitors who didn't quite make it to the final round; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia, and we hope you will join us again next year. For other contestants, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them.
If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Hi Bloom6132, a brief note about a couple recent edits to the 30–30 club article.
I added a No. column to the table after correcting the claim in the lead that "X players have reached the 30–30 club", where the count was 41 and unsourced. Manually counting through the list, it was apparent that 41 was incorrect, so I fixed it (Mullins is the 43rd different player to achieve the feat). My experience has been that editors like to count things, without showing their work, and put the counts in articles... and over time such counts become stale. Explicitly numbering things or directly denoting things that are being counted (e.g. left-handed batters and switch hitters) makes it possible to spot errors and maintain accuracy. There are various other baseball lists that have No. columns; examples include List of Major League Baseball no-hitters and List of Major League Baseball perfect games. I'd ask if you could please reconsider your removal of it.
The unsourced statement "Eight of these players (including four active members of the 30–30 club) have played for only one major league team." is an example of the above: editors like to count things but don't show their work. Who are the eight players... the article doesn't say, nor are these players denoted in some manner in the list. I hope that number is correct, but there's currently have no way to know if Mullins (who has only played for Baltimore) is included or not, other that trudging through everyone in the list. At a minimum, the eight players should be listed, especially so that if/when an active member of the list plays for some other team, the count can be revised downward. Lastly, I would question if/why this is notable? Ten seasons is established to be the criterion of List of Major League Baseball players who spent their entire career with one franchise.
Thanks. Dmoore5556 ( talk) 22:49, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
"At a minimum, that should have a footnote saying the information is verified by the Baseball-Reference pages."I've added a note to that effect after the sentence re. one-team players in the 30–30 list.

Why can’t season be linked in a table. What’s the issue with that? Jimmymci234 ( talk) 06:39, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
"Dates, years, and other chronological items should be linked only when they are relevant to the subject and likely to be useful to a reader".Adhering to WP:DATELINK and MOS:DATE (of which {{dts}} usage is integral) takes primacy over having the season linked. — Bloom6132 ( talk) 06:53, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
"Month-and-day articles … and year articles … should not be linked unless the linked date or year has a significant connection to the subject of the linking article, beyond that of the date itself, so that the linking enhances the reader's understanding of the subject".The date links in the table of Andersson Hed's article do not have a significant connection beyond that of the date itself.
1) The opening paragraph of Loudon Wainwright's book, "The Charlie Poole Project" (mentioned, though not by name, in the Talk on this subject), which places Patrick in Perryville in the early 1970s;
