Comment: Open to having either hook run on
April Fools' Day 2022 if it is deemed sufficiently quirky (depends on how well known the
actor by the same name is outside of Hong Kong).

New enough, long enough, well sourced, no visible policy violations. QPQ done. Hook facts cited inline. For April's Fools, perhaps it should be made quirkier? "... that the appointment of Stephen Chow as bishop of HK was considered a surprise in America?" (When I read Stephen Chow, I think Shaolin Soccer). Happy to approve your nom, but I have no experience with
WP:DYKAPRIL. Do you really want to wait that long? —

@
Kusma: thanks for the better wording! Yes, I'm fine with waiting until April next year. —

OK, here's your tick: I prefer ALT1 especially for 1 April, but ALT0 is ok. I don't know how the
WP:DYKAPRIL paperwork is usually done, though, so I'll leave that for someone else. —

I cannot for the life of me see how this is April 1 material. April 1 seems to have completely lost its moorings. But then of course we've been talking about that for years.

This isn't an appropriate April Fools' Day hook—it's doesn't do much to fool people, and Stephen Chow isn't well known. I think the original hook would fly as a regular DYK hook.

OK, so to summarise: people don't watch enough Hong Kong cinema, April 1 DYKs aren't a particularly fun area to work in, and running either of the current hooks now instead of next year has the advantage of being closer to the news of the bishop's appointment, so this should just run normally. —
