The cited webpage claiming that Wario was created by Gunpei Yokoi is dead. It is in the Internet Archive, though. However, is an article telling about Wario's creation and not even mentioning the designer (Hiroji Kiyotake) reliable at all? Also, from the same author came the character biography of Donkey Kong falsely claiming "It would have Donkey Kong capturing a princess"... which makes me question the reliability of it even more. I mean, the creator's name is one of the most important facts about a fictional character, and for this we shouldn't cite an article that looks like to come from a fansite. There are several unofficial sites (fansites, blogs, wikis, forums) naming Gunpei Yokoi as Wario's creator, but that's it. Any opinions? -- Grandy02 ( talk) 18:39, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
I made a small change in the first paragraph concerning the following sentences. "Although Spike bears a slight resemblance, Wario was not to receive his true debut until 1992. The first named appearance of the character occurred in the 1992 game Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins where he was designed by game artist Hiroji Kiyotake, who was also responsible for designing Samus Aran of Metroid.[2]" I removes "the 1992 game" from before Super Mario Land 2 since it was stated in the previous sentence that the character made his first appearance in 1992. Having the reference to 1992 in the second sentence is thus redundant. Hobbes543 ( talk) 22:48, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
Read the descriptions of Warioware and felt it was very much "in universe". At a minimum I think it would be far better to say *first* that the cartridge included gyro/tilt sensor and then after that if it is really relevant or notable to detail the in game story it but I'm asking here should the in game story really be included at all? -- Horkana ( talk) 18:17, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
I think you should be able to reference most of that section with the references in List of Wario video games. It would greatly improve this article. Blake ( Talk· Edits) 17:34, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
In the Wario Land subsection, the part about Wario Land 4 seems poorly worded and the tenses change. The current sentence is "The following year, the sequel Wario Land 4 debuted on the Game Boy Advance, incorporating Wario's ability to become burnt or flattened, but reintroducing the ability to become damaged from standard attacks.[9]" I think the sentence should be reworded as "The following year, the sequel Wario Land 4 debuted on the Game Boy Advance, which incorporated Wario's ability to become burnt or flattened and reintroduced the ability to become damaged by standard attacks.[9]" Hobbes543 ( talk) 23:22, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
I read somewhere, ages ago, that Mario, Luigi and Wario are brothers, all three of them, is there any proof about this? Luke Farrelly-Spain ( talk) 20:31, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
I am a Mario fan, and I know that as a kid, Mario bullied Wario and Wario wanted revenge. I know that they are not brothers, but I am unsure whether Waluigi is Wario's brother. MarioFyreFlower ( talk) 20:49, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
Okay, so someone posted here, as well as at Waluigi, that Mike Judge has replaced Charles Martinet as Wario's voice actor...so I googled this and came up with nothing...is this someone's idea of a joke? Black Yoshi ( talk) 20:49, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

OVERALL: I am aware of the rough history this article has had with GAR and FAC and that the article has improved in the past years. However, the prose has too many issues remaining: vague sentences and improper grammar. MOS is not met either. Reference formatting must be done better. I believe I found an error in almost every sentence in the main body of the article.
I cleaned up most of the prose issues listed above... what is left? And pointing out every sports game Wario appears is necessary? (it can get either crufty or hard to reference!) igordebraga ≠ 03:19, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
I fixed a few of the minor grammatical errors that weren't addressed. Just hoping the article gets GA! Sephiroth 878 | Talk 20:01, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Is the whole bit about him being shirtless in the Promotion section a joke or what? It really looks like some kid just adding info for shizz and giggles. Is the consensus that this belongs or should it be removed? Not trying to start an edit war so figured take it to TALK. Gamekeeper7 ( talk) 15:22, 2 October 2019 (UTC)

Not only are there a much greater amount of Wario memes that some people might use to vandalize this page, but since all the other major Mario characters got their pages semi-protected, I think it'd also be more consistent to add Wario to that list. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.43.209.25 ( talk) 04:02, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Is SNL really the only notable reference to Wario in popular culture? I'd assume he's been significantly referenced in other notable creations. See the Wario Fandom Wiki for some examples, particularly South Park and MAD. TheGEICOgecko ( talk) 23:39, 9 May 2021 (UTC)

I noticed that one of the pieces in Further reading comes from The Onion. While the inclusion of The Onion in Wario's article is so... Wario, I'm not sure if it belongs on Wikipedia, though one may argue that the inclusion of a satire website is fine for a Further reading section. Thoughts? @ Nathan2055 @ Cukie Gherkin @ Glades12 @ Igordebraga pinging top 4 authors. GAR will start soon. Given the popularity of this character, there are a lot of issues. Concept and design section contains failed verification/OR, since most of it were badly sourced and should be expanded more sicne there are still plenty of sources that wasn't used yet. There are also several unsourced claims at the Appearances section, and lastly the Reception section needs to be rewritten a bit (especially the listicles at last paragraph about Smash Bros.) and should be expanded more with existing sources after searching it on google.
