As a first proposal, I suggest awarding the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves to Cla68 ( talk · contribs), to recognize his many contributions to articles, and, in particular, his creation of numerous featured articles. Thoughts? Kirill Lokshin 00:50, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Okay, looks like we have our majority support. Barring any last-minute changes, I think we can go ahead and award them with the following citation:
By the order of the coordinators of the Military history WikiProject, Cla68 is hereby awarded the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves in recognition of his many valuable contributions to articles, and, in particular, his leading role in the creation of numerous featured articles on the topic of the Pacific Theater of World War II.
(Is the wording too pretentious? Suggestions would be very welcome!)
We can keep this discusssion open for a few more days to see if any other coordinators want to comment, of course. Kirill Lokshin 13:41, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
A strong begining, not a coordinator so I can't leave a mention in the main body of discussion. Since this is the first Nommination there may be a few faux-pas, such as this one. Although unwriten in the main page (article) is the proposed statement Editors are welcome to comment on nominations in progress, but are requested not to make personal attacks or unneccessarily negative remarks. applicable?-- Dryzen 20:15, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
I think it a fitting citation for a fitting award. recomendations for recognition are made where for the participant editors? I've got a few names of deserving persons, as well-- Dryzen
I would like to nomminate to receive the award of the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves to Kirill Lokshin ( talk · contribs). In recognition of his many contributions to articles, his creation of numerous featured articles and most importantly his limitless devotion to this very project and the wikipedia community of editors in general. Be this devotion as an editor, a coordinator, an administrator or as a friend, an advisor or teacher. -- Dryzen 17:46, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate RM Gillespie ( talk · contribs), in recognition of his massive efforts to improve our coverage of the Vietnam War, culminating in the development of a substantial portion of the project's A-Class articles. Kirill Lokshin 15:44, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
He is very good at it. He deserves it. -- Pupster21 Talk To Me 12:04, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
I hearby nominate Wilsbadkarma ( talk · contribs) for his work on lists (included two featured lists) and portals (including one featured portal). Lists especially are an undermanned area of work, and his excellent efforts deserve commendation. Carom 22:47, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Kevin Myers ( talk · contribs), for his outstanding work on early modern warfare in North America, and, in particular, the creation of four featured articles on the topic. Kirill Lokshin 17:03, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Noclador ( talk · contribs), for his outstanding work on structural graphics for land based forces worldwide, his contributions to Alpini and all the regiments, and for all his other military graphics he produced for articles. Angelbo Talk / Contribs 22:48, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
I hearby nominate Halibutt ( talk · contribs) for his massive contributions to articles related to the Eastern Front of World War II and the military history of Poland, including the production of ten featured articles. Carom 23:07, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
First I would like to thank everyone involved in awarding me the Wiki Chevrons with Oak Leaves. It was a wonderful surprise :-) Second I strongly Support awarding Halibutt the Wiki Chevrons with Oak Leaves. I currently work with him on a graphic of the Polish Land Forces and he is surely one of the most hard working and worthy contributors to the Military history WikiProject. -- noclador 22:13, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Wandalstouring ( talk · contribs), in recognition of his long and dedicated service as a project coordinator and his many contributions to the structure and operations of the project. Kirill 12:34, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Although not technically a part of our project, I would like to nominate SandyGeorgia ( talk · contribs) for the chevrons; Sandy has been instramental in the FA process as a whole by checking FAC articles for our project (and others as well) to ensure that citation are correctly configured, and by helping clear the backlog of FA-class articles that no longer meet FA criteria from our project (and others as well). I dare say that most articles listed under the FA-class showcase wouldn't be there if Sandy hadn't chipped in her two cents. As noted above, she is not technically a part of the project, but has been award the project Chevrons for her work in helping FA-class MILHIST articles achieve and maintain FA-class status, and the project part notes that "Nominees should generally be members of the WikiProject," meaning that a few good editers outside the project may still be eligable for the award.
I agree that you mention pretty good reasons to support this nomination. Wandalstouring 10:43, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate JKBrooks85 ( talk · contribs), in recognition of his diligent efforts to improve our coverage of fortifications in the American Civil War, and, in particular, his creation of a substantial number of A-Class articles. Kirill 16:56, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
I hereby nominate Marine 69-71 ( talk · contribs) (aka Tony the Marine) for the Chevron w/ oak leaves, Tony has been a driving force behind the creation of a number of Hispanic and Puerto Rico based article on Wikipedia (a list can be viewed on his userpage), and he has helped a number of Purto Rican and Hispanic articles with Military History based focuses achieve FA-class status. As with SandyGeorgia, his name is not listed on our prject members list, but he has recieved the Chevrons and has contributed to the project as a whole. TomStar81 ( Talk) 04:43, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Mike Christie ( talk · contribs), in recognition of his outstanding work on Anglo-Saxon military history, including the production of numerous featured articles. Mike isn't formally a member of the project, but he's been responsible for a half-dozen FAs on Anglo-Saxon rulers—a topic which naturally includes a heavy dose of military history. Kirill 23:39, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Blnguyen ( talk · contribs), in recognition of his efforts in improving the quality of articles related to Vietnamese military history, including the creation of numerous A-Class articles. Kirill 19:51, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Woodym555 ( talk · contribs), in recognition of his outstanding work on topics related to the Victoria Cross, notably including the creation of featured articles, featured lists, and a featured topic. Kirill 19:51, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Dapi89 ( talk · contribs), in recognition of his outstanding work on topics related to the history of the Luftwaffe and its personnel, especially for the tremendous effort he has put into the article History of the Luftwaffe during World War II. MisterBee1966 ( talk) 11:05, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Bwmoll3 ( talk · contribs) in recognition of his superior contributions to very many US Air Force pages. He's methodically gone though USAF wings and installations vastly improving more than I can count. While I'm not aware of any of his articles being featured, he has contributed a great deal of time greatly increasing the quality of USAF history on Wikipedia. Ndunruh ( talk) 17:45, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Roger Davies ( talk · contribs) for the WikiChevron with Oak Leaves for his incomparable work on the Assessment Drive 2007 and for patiently and comprehensively answering every single doubt that the editors had. Along with all this, he even had time to tag articles. No one deserves this more. Sniperz11 talk| edits 12:28, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
This editor has made an outstanding contribution to the project's organisation by tagging and assessing a massive 10,000 articles in the recent drive. Additionally, he has scrupulously added task forces, even though this was optional.-- ROGER DAVIES talk 06:54, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
For his outstanding organization of the project, his maintainanence work and his kind advice. (As soon as he is out of office) Wandalstouring ( talk) 16:19, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
I hereby nominate MBK004 for the chevron w/oak leaves award for his outstanding effort to improve our compliment of naval ships by updating infoboxes, replacing deprecated infoboxes, and locating sources for ships in the employment of their respective countries navies. He has received two chevron awards for working on the tag and assess drive and USS Illinois (BB-65), respectively, and is a member in good standing with both our project and WP:SHIPS.
Nomination by BusterD:
- A request to ignore all rules
- I'd like to seek consensus to award User:Hlj the Wikichevrons with Oak leaves even though Hal isn't a member of this project, and even though he's never received the wikichevrons, though he did receive similar acclaim from Kirill back in 2006. IMHO, he's one of the most consistently fine editors in the ACW cluster, and many of our ACW battles, biographies and theaters articles would be impoverished without the enduring contributions and keen eyes of this retiring yet accomplished editor. I've posted a similarly named thread here. Please take any support or other discussion there. Sorry for the cross post, but in this case, IMHO, an exception might best be granted. BusterD ( talk) 18:39, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Please support or oppose the nomination here please. -- ROGER DAVIES talk 18:53, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
I hereby nominate Buckshot06 for the Wikichevrons with Oak Leaves, in recognition of his daily tireless efforts to improve this project and the quality of its articles. He has already received the wikichevrons last year. -- Eurocopter ( talk) 11:08, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
I hereby nominate Piotrus for Wikichevrons with Oak-Leaves. Although he has never received wikichevrons (I can't actually find his awards page, for that matter), his contributions to Polish Military History are phenomenal, including the creation of 9 Featured Articles, 2 A-Class Articles, & 3 GA-Class Articles on the subject. Cheers! Cam ( Chat) 18:30, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Durova ( talk · contribs) in recognition of her exemplary work on military history featured pictures, sounds, and articles. Kirill ( prof) 13:07, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Bellhalla ( talk · contribs) for the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves. He has received the Chevrons on at least two occasions, is one of the first two recipients of the new A-Class medal and has contributed to a few FAs which he has brought up the assessment scale via the A-Class reviews and GA nomination system along with a quite large number of DYKs. He has become quite a fixture at the contest department as well. - MBK 004 20:55, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate LordAmeth ( talk · contribs) for the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves in recognition of his long and distinguished service as a Coordinator of this project from August 2006 to September 2008. - MBK 004 21:46, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
I'd also like to nominate Kyriakos ( talk · contribs) for the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves in recognition of his long and distingushed service as a Coordinator of this project from February 2007 to September 2008. - MBK 004 21:46, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
I'm nominating EyeSerene ( talk · contribs) for all his hard work in copyediting a large quantity of Military History articles. He has been a cornerstone of several FACs, including Battle of Verrières Ridge, Battle of Barrosa, Battle of Albuera and Glorious First of June. He is currently copyediting five other MilHist articles, three of which will probably be put through FAC in the near future. EyeSerene received the WikiChevrons on 6 June 2008. JonCatalán (Talk) 21:39, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
I like to nominate TomStar81 ( talk · contribs) for the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves in recognition of both his long and distingushed service as a Coordinator of this project from August 2007 to October 2008 and his exemplary contributions to articles on the vessels of U.S. Navy. -- ROGER DAVIES talk 06:21, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
I would like to nominate Abraham, B.S. ( talk · contribs) for the WikiChevrons with Oakleaves in recognition of his many valuable contributions to the project: he is an active reviewer; an active and sensible contributor to Milhist discussions; and a fine content contributor, notably on Australian VC winners. -- ROGER DAVIES talk 12:49, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Ian Rose ( talk · contribs) for the WikiChevrons with Oakleaves in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Australian military history articles, and particularly articles on senior Royal Australian Air Force officers. To date these include four FAs, an A-class article (which is currently at FAC and looks certain to pass) and four GAs. Ian is also a highly civil and collaborative editor and a good source of advice. Ian was previously awarded the WikiChevrons on 21 March 2008. Nick-D ( talk) 04:42, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Raul654 ( talk · contribs) for the chevrons w/oak leaves. Although not a member of the project, Raul has contributed to eight featured milhist articles, six of which still retain their bronze stars. Additionally, Raul has occasionally shown editors of various projects - including ours - leeway in adding articles to the TFA list when date relevance or other issues suggest a TFA appearance. Raul has also generously added to our visual library by taking plenty of pictures for our project. For all these reasons I believe Raul654 deserves the chevrons w/oak leaves.—Preceding unsigned comment added by TomStar81 ( talk • contribs) 00:36, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
Nominate MisterBee1966 ( talk · contribs) for the Oak leaves. Nominated for creating and writing seven featured lists on German military awards during the Second World War and for contributing to four good articles and being instrumental in promoting three of them to A-Class status. At the moment Heinrich Bär is also nominated for FA status (it at A-Class at the moment). Dapi89 ( talk) 21:26, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

I'd like to nom the not-so-aptly named (:D) The Land ( talk · contribs) for the oak leaves for his contributions in the area of maritime warfare. This guy got battleship, pre-dreadnought, and ironclad warship to FA in 2007 and dreadnought to FA just today. Those would be four core articles in maritime warfare and (at least) one core article in all of warfare! In addition, he has significantly contributed to six of the seven articles in the history of the battleship series: the four above (assuming "battleship" itself counts), treaty battleship and Battleships in World War II. — Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 22:28, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Catalan ( talk · contribs) (JonCatalán) for the WikiChevrons with Oakleaves in recognition of his distinguished service as a coordinator of this project, thorough article reviews, and his contributions of 14 featured articles, a featured topic, and many A-Class and Good Articles. - MBK 004 23:36, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Moonriddengirl ( talk · contribs) for the WikiChevrons with Oakleaves in recognition of her efforts to track down copyrighted articles within our scope in the aftermath of the GrahamBould copyright affair and notify the projects effected by the copy and pasting of non free material directly into Wikipedia, which included our milhist project. Although not a member of our project, and not a recipent of the wikichevrons, I feel that the circumstances surrounding this particular incident warrent more than just a simple chevrons, so I am asking for special consideration for this nomination, and point out that as our criteria specifically states generally members and generally recieved chevrons first, we have occasionally bent the rules in the past for editors worthy of such acclaim. TomStar81 ( Talk) 20:24, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Id like to nominate Parsecboy ( talk · contribs) for the Chevrons w/oak leaves award for his outstanding work in bringing almost all of the WWI era German battleships - dreadnoughts and dreadnoughts - up to GA, A, or FA class. His single-mind determination in this field has helped both with the WWI centennial drive we are running and with my project to get all battleship articles up to FA class for one big FT nom.
In recognition of his outstanding work, never-ending support & encouragement, and astute advice over 2 years as a coordinator of the Military History WikiProject - 1.5 of those as the Lead Coordinator. Cam ( Chat) 03:31, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm nominating Auntieruth55 for the Oak Leaves for her excellent work on three featured articles ( Unification of Germany, Cologne War and Hermann Detzner) plus supporting numerous good articles, especially for her instrumental help on Werner Mölders (featured article of the day on 22 November 2009), and for always being helpful. I ask the coordinators to support this nomination. Thanks MisterBee1966 ( talk) 20:11, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Can I nominate MisterBee1966 for consideration for the Oakleaves. To date he has 14 A class articles and this looks like being number 15. He already has four A class medals so I believe the Oakleaves is just reward for his hard work. -- Jim Sweeney ( talk) 08:26, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

I hereby nominate Brad101 ( talk · contribs) for the Chevron with Oak Leaves. Brad has been with us since 2006, and in that time has been a force of improvement behind a a very sizable number of nautical articles that fall within our scope. Although not listed as a member milhist per say, his work for SHIPS has produce a number of high quality article for us along the way. Brad is a recipient of the Chevrons for work in an earlier FAR for the Iowa class battleships, and has received an A-class medal for work his work on the Original Six Frigates of the United States Navy.

Just been waiting for his 'coordinatorship' to lapse by his own accord before nominating... For his sterling work as a four-term MilHist Coordinator, his ongoing "big picture" article work, including such examples as Australian Defence Force and Military history of Australia during World War II, just two of the ten FAs he's achieved, and for his tireless participation in discussion and review, I hereby nominate Nick-D for long-overdue Oak Leaves. I would like to nominate Eurocopter ( talk · contribs) for the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves in recognition of his long and distinguished service as a Coordinator of this project from August 2007 to May 2010; coordination of the Henry Allingham World War I Contest; his exceptional behind the scenes work in the ongoing running of the A-Class Review process; and in recognition of his contributions which include three Featured Articles and six A-Class articles. - MBK 004 05:56, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

I'd like to throw Constantine's name into the ring. ( Cplakidas ( talk · contribs)) It seems like I see a DYK on the Byzantines at least once a week, and every time I look at the article's history he's had a hand in it. In total, Constantine has 96 DYKs, one FA (the massive undertaking of Byzantine navy; probably ought to count for three), one FP ( a ridiculously detailed map of Constantinople), twenty GAs, and numerous article and map creations that aren't featured or weren't DYK'ed. He's been around for quite some time (2005), and I think it is high time we recognize his monumental achievements. — Ed (talk • majestic titan) 07:39, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Moonriddengirl ( talk · contribs) for the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves in recognition of her unstinting dedication to finding and eliminating potential copyright concerns in military history articles. Her diligence and commitment have been crucial in helping maintain Wikipedia's reputation as an outstanding scholarly resource on military matters.
Moonriddengirl was awarded the WikiChevrons by Roger in April 2009 for her first major military history copyvio catch. Kirill [talk] [prof] 20:57, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
I'd like to throw Magicpiano ( talk · contribs) into consideration for the Oak Leaves. I want to nominate Jim Sweeney ( talk · contribs) for the Oak Leaves. He has 2 FLCs, 4 A-Class, 16 GA-Class and 40 DYks all in scope of the Military history project. Besides these merits, I have often seen him help others in the background. Please support my nomination. MisterBee1966 ( talk) 18:11, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
I want to nominate Dapi89 ( talk · contribs) a second time since January 2008 for the Oak Leaves. His long lasting, high quality contribution to the project has made a tremendous impact on many World War II related articles, especially the air war. The number of articles he has worked on has grown steadily over the years. I would truly appreciate if this second nomination is viewed more positively. Thank you. Nikki is not a member of the project, but she has been commenting on essentially every FAC – let alone Milhist FACs – in the recent-ish past. For this thankless and undervalued work, I believe she should be awarded the Oak Leaves. (this was inspired in part by Dank at WT:MHCOORD, but I have also seen the amount of work she puts in.) Sandy received the Oak Leaves in September 2007, and I think it's a fine time to grant them to her once again. During the last four years, Sandy has become a FAC delegate ( in November 2007), overseen quite a few changes in the FA process, including the tightening of standards and the additions of several new delegates, and has successfully dealt with a myriad of problems within the process. If someone with more knowledge of FAC history in 2007 wants to rewrite/add/subtract/modify my blurb, please do. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 06:50, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
I would like to nominate Bahamut0013 for the Chevron with Oak Leaves award. Bahamut0013 was a driving force behind the battleship portal and the OMT pages, and made a good many contributions to articles within our scope. Bahamut has not received the Chevron award, but has received two reviewer awards and in light of contributions to both OMT and to the project as a whole I am petitioning for a special circumstances ruling for the issuing of this award. Now that AustralianRupert isn't a coordinator and is therefore eligible for the oak leaves, I'd like to propose the award because ... it would be a crime not to. More than anyone else, he defined our A-class process over his 1.5 years of coordship with his astounding number of reviews. He treated nominators and reviewers with dignity and kindness, without exception, and constantly pushed himself out of his comfort zone to cover a wide range of issues and topics. - Dank ( push to talk) 18:53, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

I'd like to nominate Anotherclown ( talk · contribs) in recognition of his enormous contributions to articles on Australian military history (which include 5 A-class and 15 GA-class articles) and the military history of other nations as well as his massive contributions to the article assessment and review processes, not to mention his many other contributions to keeping the project running. I think that this award is long overdue given Anotherclown's impressive record and the fact that he was a runner-up in the Military historian of the Year process for 2010 and 2011. Nick-D ( talk) 02:50, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

I want to nominate Parsecboy ( talk · contribs) for a second WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves. He received the first Oak Leaves in July 2009 (almost four years ago) and he has created many more great articles since. The fact that he received eight A-Class medals with Swords since 2010 is indicative of his dedication to this project. I hope the coordinates second this opinion. Thanks MisterBee1966 ( talk) 13:46, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
I want to nominate MisterBee1966 ( talk · contribs) for a second WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves. He received the award in February 2009 (four-and-a-half years ago) and he has created many more meticulously researched articles and lists since, including another five featured lists of Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross recipients (by my reckoning). He has received four A-Class Medals, five with Oak Leaves, and five with Swords since his first WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves, and this shows his commitment to the Military History WikiProject. He has served twice as a coordinator in that time, a six month stint in 2010 then a year in 2011–12. He has been very friendly and helpful to me when I've been working on biographies of Knight's Cross recipients that served in the Balkans, especially in locating hard-to-find details on awards, family life etc. Peacemaker67 ( send... over) 13:53, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
I that this is unprecedented in the history of the award, but in accordance with the reply to a question I left Sturmvogel 66 I would like to nominate Parsecboy ( talk · contribs), Cam ( talk · contribs), The ed17 ( talk · contribs), Dank ( talk · contribs), and Saberwyn ( talk · contribs) to share a Chevron with Oak Leaves award for the roles that each played in assisting with the creation of the 63-article Featured Topic Battlecruisers of the World. In making this nomination I ask the community to consider the following:
I realize that this is the first time that such a request, and such a nomination, have been made, so I am prepared to accept a no answer if the community judges that our most prestigious award should not be handed out in this manner, however as I have said before in different ways, "nothing ventured, nothing gained."
Scanning the nominees for MHOTY, I kicked myself for not having put forward Hchc's name, but unfortunately nominations had closed by that time. Considering other possible recognition, I checked the list of Oak Leaves recipients and was surprised to find his name missing there too. Well, that's something we can definitely rectify, so I hereby nominate Hchc2009 for the Oak Leaves for his exemplary work over the years on medieval history, biographies and fortifications, as evidenced by his successful A-Class and/or Featured Article nominations for Henry I of England, John of England, Peasants' Revolt, Bastille and Windsor Castle among others, many GAs, and also for his consistent efforts as a reviewer. Cheers, Ian Rose ( talk) 23:08, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
I would like to nominate Sturmvogel for his second Oak Leaves. Sturm was awarded his first Oak Leaves over four years ago. Since that time he has continued his sterling performance as a major contributor to our WikiProject. This has included two years as a Coordinator (September 2010 to September 2012), three A-Class Medals, five A-Class Medals with Oak Leaves, and five A-Class Medals with Swords. He topped the recent February-March backlog drive, is a regular winner of the monthly contest, is a consistent and keen reviewer, and provides wise advice on various aspects of the WikiProject to all and sundry. He doesn't engage in groupthink and asks the hard questions. All in all, a real champion of MILHIST. Regards, Peacemaker67 ( send... over) 14:07, 14 April 2014 (UTC) @ WP:MILHIST coordinators:
Ed is, simply, a MilHist institution. Co-opted as a coordinator in November 2008, he decided he liked the job, and only tore himself away from it when he declined to stand in the 2014–15 election just held. In November 2010 he became one half of the Bugle newsletter's first dedicated editing team, helping to put in place the format still in use today, and only left that position in September 2012 to focus on editing the Wikipedia Signpost. Along the way he's written or co-written an amazing 25 Featured Articles. Ed was a co-recipient of the (IAR) Majestic Titans Oak Leaves last year but, owing to his continuous service as a coordinator till now, this is his first nomination for a long-overdue individual award. Cheers, Ian Rose ( talk) 14:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
I nominate Nick-D for his second Oak Leaves. Nick was awarded the Oak Leaves in March 2010 at the conclusion of his last coordinatorship, a two year period from February 2008 to March 2010. Since then he has completed a second stint on the coord team, this time of three years from September 2011 to September 2014, including one year as joint lead coordinator. Since his first award, he's written (by my crappy maths), at least another 15 or so FAs, and has received two ACMs, five ACMs with Oak Leaves, and one with Swords, as well as getting buckets of GAs over the line. Nick has been a member of Operation Normandy and Operation Majestic Titan, all while continuing to work hard on articles, admin duties, editing the Bugle, and helping many with his sage and measured advice. I personally joined WP and Milhist just after Nick returned to the coord team, and benefited greatly from his advice and reviewing skills as I developed my own editing skills. @ WP:MILHIST coordinators: As most of you have at this point scene, we've got end of the year awards to hand out, but ahead of that I wanted to formally nominate Adam Cuerden ( talk · contribs) for a Chevron with Oak Leaves award based on the unprecedented amount of featured media he has racked up for the project. I dare say that this man is probably single handedly responsible for making sure that so many of our articles on people, places, events and equipment have accompanying images of outstanding quality that I feel he has more than earned the award on the merit of his media edits.
I nominate Ian Rose for his second Oak Leaves. Ian was awarded the Oak Leaves in February 2009, and he has been a coordinator ever since until he stepped down at the recent election. This has been a pretty incredible run, topped off by an outstanding year as lead coordinator in the last tranche. If he hadn't been ineligible for the award during his years as a coord, he would almost certainly have been nominated before now, based on his work on the Bugle. Nuff said.
Harry has been editing since 2009, and is an admin and oversighter. He's also an admin on Commons. In addition to his recently concluded four years as a coordinator of Milhist, he has been a great ambassador in the UK for our project through his involvement with Wikimedia events in the UK, such as Wikimania 2014. He fights vandals and has far more patience than I (sadly, that's not saying all that much). On a personal note, among his excellent FA/FLs are two articles about British generals, firstly a much-loved brigadier and secondly, a much-feared major-general (both of whom I worked for in Bosnia). It is always handy to have admins on the Milhist team to help sort things out, and Harry is always happy to lend a hand. Peacemaker67 ( crack... thump) 09:38, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
I want to nominate Kierzek for the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves. Kierzek is an active member of WikiProject Military History and has been editing on Wikipedia since March 2009. He has written 16 Good Articles and one of which is now A-Class. His editing is focused on the very sensitive area of the SS and I believe he has done a great job of presenting this topic neutrally, not an easy task. And lastly, I find him very helpful and cooperative. Thanks MisterBee1966 ( talk) 10:53, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
MisterBee1966 your nom, care to do the honours? Peacemaker67 ( click to talk to me) 08:50, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
In recognition of his long and distinguished career with the Military history WikiProject, I am nominating Mr. B for the Chevron with Oakleaves award as a final salute for all that he contributed to our project. In making this recommendation, I find that he served honorably as a coordinator for this project, made contributions of outstanding quality while active, and at the time of his retirement and departure he was under no restrictions or sanctions with regards to editing or interacting.
@ WP:MILHIST coordinators: I am nominating user K.e.coffman for the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves. For just over a year now, K.e.coffman has exercised a stringent quality assurance program with a strong focus on German World War II related articles. His relentless effort has led to the deletion or redirection of numerous Knight's Cross recipients biographies (see Wikipedia talk:Notability (people)#KC recipients closed AfDs and Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Knight Cross recipients). Additionally, he is tirelessly advocating for the demotion of FAC, Military history A-Class and GA articles (some examples include Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/Otto Kittel/1, Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/Wolfgang Lüth/1, Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/Joachim Helbig/1). Above and beyond this, he is making a tremendous effort at identifying and flushing out unreliable sources (examples include Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#Additional input sought for a GAR re sources and Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#Sources at Artur Phleps article). K.e.coffman editing history shows how consequently he deletes any intricate detail or inconsequential events, excessive cross categorization, overcited material unlikely to be challenged, unneeded iconography, over-templating, and any other Nazi fancruft. Testimonies of his achievements are well documented on his user page. With a bit of sarcasm in mind, his series of removals and diligence continues to amaze me. Cheers MisterBee1966 ( talk) 08:36, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
"The WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves are awarded by the project coordinators in the name of the project as a whole; they are intended to recognize editors who have made contributions of truly incredible quality [emphasis by me] or importance in the area of military history."As K.e.coffman stated
"I believe that it describes my contributions within the project to a T and I'd be honoured to receive the award."The suggested withdrawal of the nomination more or less equates to opposing the nomination without stating why the coordinators are not supporting the nomination. Has K.e.coffman not made enough contributions of truly incredible quality? Please explain. Cheers MisterBee1966 ( talk) 12:47, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
@ WP:MILHIST coordinators: I would like to nominate Hawkeye7 for the Wikichevrons with Oak-Leaves. Hawkeye was elected as a coordinator of the Milhist project in September 2011 and was re-elected each year until standing aside at the end of the last tranche after five years of service. I was surprised to see that he hadn't been nominated before given he's been onwiki for over eleven years. He has 50! FAs, 86 A-Class articles and 232 GAs to his credit... He was our 2012 Military historian of the year, and runner up in 2014. Having been involved in doing some of the coordinator drudge work before he developed Milhistbot, it has made the job of coordinator so much easier than it was, and he deserves this award just for that, let alone his content and coord work. His series of articles on the Manhattan Project continues to amaze me, and is making a really important contribution to the encyclopaedia... I could say plenty more, like the hundreds of DYKs etc, but you get the drift I'm sure... Regards, Peacemaker67 ( click to talk to me) 09:28, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
@ WP:MILHIST coordinators: I hereby nominate Nikkimaria for her second Wikichevrons with Oak-Leaves, her first being in September 2011 . Nikki has under her belt four terms as a project coordinator, twelve successful Featured Article nominations, and countless image and source checks as one of our most prolific reviewers at A-Class and Featured level. She is also a Featured Article Review coordinator and has been nominated as Military Historian of the Year three times, taking third place last year. I don't know how she manages to be in so many places at once, I'm just glad she is, for WP would be a much poorer place without her. Cheers, Ian Rose ( talk) 11:12, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
@ WP:MILHIST coordinators: I would like to nominate Dank for the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves in recognition of many years of dedication to the Military History project. Dan has been heavily involved with Milhist's review processes over many years, and has been instrumental in improving our standards for prose and copy editing. Through his copy editing and reviewing, I suspect that he would have had a hand in almost all of the FAs the project has produced over the past five or so years (if not longer). I have learnt a lot from Dan over the years, and I believe so have many others. He has also been a stalwart of the co-ord team for many years, first taking on a role in March 2010 and retaining a position for eight terms before taking a well deserved break. Beyond this, Dan also supports broader Wikipedia goals with his work on WP:TFA, and at WP:FAC, and elsewhere. I hope that you will find this a satisfactory nom. Regards, AustralianRupert ( talk) 06:53, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
@ WP:MILHIST coordinators: I would like to present Jackyd101 for your consideration to receive the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves. Jackyd101 is an old stager, having been a member of the project since 2006 by my reckoning, with their main effort being focussed on the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. They have an excellent content creation record, with 12 FAs, seven FLs, 112 GAs, DYKs out the yingyang, but also an unbelievable 241! GAN reviews to their credit! Given that GAN is one of the engine rooms of this project as well as WP as a whole, the GAN reviewing effort alone justifies this award in my view. Still very active in content creation after all these years, they currently have five articles in the GAN list. While I can't find an award of the WikiChevrons in their archives (our guidelines say a recipient should "generally" have already received the WikiChevrons), I believe this is an IAR situation. I hope you'll agree. Cheers, Peacemaker67 ( click to talk to me) 06:32, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
@ WP:MILHIST coordinators: Anotherclown is a veteran of the project who served the better part of five terms as a co-ord in their 10 years on the site. Following his recent retirement as a co-ord and start of an indefinite Wikibreak, I hope that you will join me in recognising someone who has worked tirelessly to improve our content through article writing and reviewing, as well as the more mundane aspects of keeping the project running over the years. AC received this award for the first time in 2012 and I think he more than deserves a second one. All the best, mate, take care and thanks! Regards, AustralianRupert ( talk) 08:48, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
I would like to nominate AustralianRupert for a second WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves. AR received the Oak Leaves seven years ago, and since then he has been co-lead coord for one year, lead coord for three years and a coord for another. In that time he must have done hundreds of FA, A-Class and peer reviews, checked hundreds of entries and tallied the monthly contests, assessed hundreds of articles at MHAR and has been a major factor in the throughput of our assessment processes. Around all of that, he has also been a solid and collaborative content creator, as the recent FA Bougainville counterattack shows. As lead coord, he has been a great communicator and organiser, and as a coord he has always got stuck into whatever task was at hand. The only reason he has not been nominated for a second WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves before this is because he has been a coord ever since he reached the four-year mark after his first award. I hope you will join me and support this nomination. Cheers, Peacemaker67 ( click to talk to me) 04:31, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
@ WP:MILHIST coordinators: given we are down to 12 coords, this needs one more support to succeed. Thanks, Peacemaker67 ( click to talk to me) 03:20, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
@ WP:MILHIST coordinators: About 72 hours after I handed out the awards for work done last year, one of the recipients - Yann - received word that his featured picture nomination cleared FPC and was officially promoted to a Featured Picture. The featured picture in question is none other than the legendary image known universally as Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima, an image every bit as iconic as the battle that resulted in the photograph in the first place. For his nomination of this image and its subsequent promotion to the Featured Picture pool I hereby nominate Yann for for the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves.

Cheers, Ian Rose ( talk) 01:15, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

He is a frequent contributor to articles related to the French and Indian War or the American Revolutionary War, and his resume includes five featured articles and quite a few GAs – see his military contributions and topics pages. He was awarded the Chevrons in May 2009. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 00:36, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Thank you. MisterBee1966 ( talk) 17:19, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Nikki is not a member of the project, but she has been commenting on essentially every FAC – let alone Milhist FACs – in the recent-ish past. For this thankless and undervalued work, I believe she should be awarded the Oak Leaves. (this was inspired in part by Dank at WT:MHCOORD, but I have also seen the amount of work she puts in.) Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 06:50, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
Archived until September for a four-year break in receiving the award. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 22:27, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
Sandy received the Oak Leaves in September 2007, and I think it's a fine time to grant them to her once again.
TomStar81 ( Talk) 01:53, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

I would like to nominate EyeSerene ( talk · contribs) in recognition of their work as a long-standing co-ord of the project who served in the last six tranches, and their wider contributions to Wikipedia as whole since becoming a registered user in September 2006. AustralianRupert ( talk) 00:28, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
I'd like to nominate Nikkimaria ( talk · contribs) for the Content Review Medal of Merit on behalf of the project. Every time I put up an A-class of FAC she's there to check the references. Great work. Hawkeye7 ( talk) 11:53, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
Peacemaker67 ( crack... thump) 07:30, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
