Varnavinsky District ( Russian: Варна́винский райо́н) is an administrative district ( raion), one of the forty in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia. [1] Municipally, it is incorporated as Varnavinsky Municipal District. [4] It is located in the north of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,523.4 square kilometers (974.3 sq mi). [1] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Varnavino. [1] Population: 13,366 ( 2010 Census); [2] 15,867 ( 2002 Census); [6] 15,130 ( 1989 Soviet census). [7] The population of Varnavino accounts for 26.0% of the district's total population. [2]
