WP-Oregon has a category for the Oregon Territorial Legislature and 42 people were listed as of a few minutes ago. Some articles are being started at WP-Arizona on the various Arizona Territorial Legislatures but as of right now no categories to supplement the articles. I noticed your complaint on Category talk:Mayors of Sitka, Alaska. To clarify, category pages are automatically-generated lists of all pages containing the pertinent 'category tag'. If there's a relevant article that doesn't have the category tag, that article will not be included in the category until someone adds the tag (which obviously can't be done if the article hasn't been written yet). Yes, since he's a living person it should be possible to obtain a photo of him. I know how difficult it is to find photos, I've been trying to work my way through Category:Wikipedia requested photographs of professional wrestling performers, and I've not been able to get photos for many of the articles listed. • Wow, some folks are really over-zealous with these AfD's, aren't they? Sheesh. I came in and saw it after it had concluded. Off2riorob really went off the deep end during that discussion.

Also, I tweaked the lead on the article, Juneau-Douglas Bridge, which User:Rosiestep created and I've contributed to, and tried to make the point that Douglas Island and Juneau are one and the same - per your concerns on the articles talk page. Take a look, and if you tweak it further I certainly won't take it personally. I also hope you like the 3 photos I added; one of the entire span, located in the infobox, as well as the two newer ones I added, the one below the bridge and the one showing its eastern entrance/exit. One day, when its bright out, I'll get one thats a little more clear of the eastern entrance/exit, but I'm really happy with the other two.

Of course, I've been bombarding myself with enough Karate lately to figure "who knows" is as good a guess as any. I see. The fact that you would jokingly confuse Calgary with Calvary seems to point out that those two cannot be mistakenly confused for one another. I don't think it is necessary to have a hatnote regarding the confusing between the two based on a one-time personal experience, unless you could somehow prove that there is common widespread confusion between the two. The farthest west I went was the First Lutheran Church. I am not sure what the Twin Towers are, but I don't believe I got a photo of anything that matches that description. You mentioned this article being deleted in the whole wheat radio AFD. It's was deleted as an uncontested PROD back in February. Normally I would be willing to restore this but it was an unsourced BLP. However, you or anybody else is free to write a new sourced article. Try expanding your consideration of sources. There are multiple biographical directories out there (such as Who's Who and the like) which list all four of Frank Murkowski's daughters by their married names. These same sources also universally refer to "Frank Hughes Murkowski", not "Francis Hughes Murkowski", which means that you're being inconsistent in your scrutiny and references to sourcing issues. Just from personal experience, I can say that Lisa only began exclusively referring to herself by her maiden name after she started running for elected office in 1998, and that prior to, she was more often known by Martell than Murkowski. Google had nothing to do with this, and I'm a wee bit miffed that you seem to be assuming that's all I do. ☺ I'm a bear about getting any and all reliable sources possible, including making occasional trips to the Library of Congress or the National Library of Medicine to dig up hard-to-find info (one of the advantages of living near DC!).

But in this case, I didn't try to find any sources at all; I merely checked the only one already cited, in either article, attached to a statement about Murkowski's marriage to Martell. That ADN article (for "Murkowski is married to Verne Martell") was a typical pre-marriage announcement with maiden name only, and the Lisa Murkowski article itself did not, and still does not, refer to her as "Lisa Ann Martell", let alone cite a source for this. I saw that someone (you, of course) had added children's names in Frank Murkowski, including one that was not represented anywhere in en.wikipedia.org, including – as I stated in my edit summary – in Lisa Murkowski, and so changed it to what editors to date have considered the most recognized version of her name (as suggested by her article's title).

All the qualifications and conditionals in my previous sentence are intentional. I'm not at all surprised if, in your experience, she has taken a married name, but I was running short on allowable time for digging up more info. I didn't even think to examine her father's name; all I did in this tiny bit of editing was a quick verify-or-remove edit on a married name in one article that wasn't mentioned in the subject's own article.

I always wind up doing some quick-and-dirty work during my drive-by edits, because otherwise my 3- to 6-hour sessions turn into all-day marathons. (They always start as a simple desire to look up a single fact; "5 minutes tops!" I tell myself.) I know when I do unsourced-info trimming that sometimes an editor will take exception to this, but that's a major reason why I do it – to motivate people who care about the info to produce the sources for it.

Ironically, I probably wouldn't have done anything, and we could have saved ourselves this discussion, if you had added something to Lisa Murkowski that mentioned her using the name "Lisa Ann Martell" when you added it to Frank Murkowski. I would have seen no inconsistency between the articles and gone back to wherever I'd wiki-walked here from. (Hmm, it was Vietnamization – no clue how I got here from there!) Tell you what: I'll spend a bit more time trying to track down sources during my next drive-by edit, if you'll do a bit more synchronizing and/or reliable sourcing the next time you go for a quick edit. ☺ ~ Jeff Q  (talk) 05:34, 29 July 2011 (UTC) reply

You objected to ProFightBB being a reliable source on the WP:PW talk page. You said: Ric Flair easily had well into the thousands of matches during the 1970s, including countless main events. Seeing as how the only matches found in their database are of his two MSG matches, this constitutes another manifestation of the bias I've been harping on for far too long. However, I disagree that this site is unreliable due to this. Missing information from the 1970s does not mean any info after the 1979 onwards is incorrect. If one needs to cite a source about matches in the 2000s, one can easily use ProFightBB. If one is looking for a 1970 Flair main event, one would simply search somewhere else. Hi. If I recall correctly, the location of Fritz Cove has its north shore wrapping around the Mendenhall Peninsula, and south shore hugging Douglas Island. Do you think the article is a little too vague?

As for the people, I would like to get to those eventually. My user subpage only contains things I listed out of the USGS Geographic Names Information System. I grew up in Juneau from about 1999 to 2008 and didn't follow the local politics too closely; you've probably done much better preparation and research than myself. Nevertheless I'd like to work on those articles at some point, if they don't end up getting deleted. Articles for city elections in the last few years got tossed out some time ago, much to my frustration, but I wasn't keen on arguing my case. I think they can probably be legitimately revived in a longer single article chronicling the history of the assembly. Heya. Cheers for improving the article on Cathy Giessel. I agree the introduction flows much better now and great work finding the birth date! I have read the additional suggestions you've made - sorry it's taken so long to respond to them. Since they were inserted into the article text itself, rather than on my talk page, I hadn't noticed until recently. On the "his late forties" point, I don't see how it could be easily misinterpreted. The addition of "his", I would think, clearly shows it's referring to the age group, rather than the decade. As for whether Giessel's maiden name should be used, I'm pretty sure convention is we stick with a singular name for consistency in an article but I'm not sure. I'll look and ask around for answers, but as I said I'm pretty sure convention is sticking with one form of the name - in this case, Giessel.

Whilst I do that I'm going to remove the suggestions in the article text. Not because I'm trying to sweep them away - I have responded to them after all - but because I know at least that article suggestions shouldn't be placed directly into the text, but in either the talk page or discussion page. Thanks for your reply. I agree mentioning her maiden name in the lead is entirely appropriate and in-keeping with convention. I just thought you meant you believe her maiden name should be used more often in the main article text. And thanks for the info on why her age might have been withheld. When I wrote the article I imagined it'd been withheld deliberately because she wanted people to underestimate how old she is. Including her birth date may be a problem however. Presuming the limited coverage of her age was deliberate I consulted WP:BLP. I then found WP:DOB. It would seem that when a birth date is seemingly deliberately withheld as much as possible then we should respect that. What do you think? I hear ya about the double standards. Whilst I think privacy concerns override IAR, in anycase you've pointed out the decisive bit of text. The onus is on the senator/her team to complain before any action need be taken. If they do then the birth date should go, but DOB also says that - whilst a birth date may need to go - the year of birth need not. And in the long-term, the public interest is served by the year of birth: the actual day and month arguably's a bit redundant. Redverton ( talk) 20:59, 4 November 2011 (UTC) reply

In fact, to avoid potential conflict - and because I think the birth year is the most important thing anyway- I think it best the day and month be removed. And I'll contact the senator's team to ask if they approve of the full birth date after all. That way, the senator can't argue we didn't consult, there's a chance the full birth date stays in, but at the very least the birth year will stay in. Thank you for comments on my user page. My experience with Wikipédiens is that nothing I can write here will make any difference whatsoever, so please make whatever edits you wish with my blessings. ——— Against my better judgement, I will write some words. I began the Llorente article by paraphrasing the article from es.Wikipédia through my French to English, then expanded the bibliography and certain article parts from the detailed biographical listing that appears on a chonological preface page of his posthumous autobiographical anthology Memoirs of a Yukon Priest -- a very well-written and entertaining book, by the way; you would enjoy it. In my opinion, the en.Wikipédia article on him that I added is not much of an article, really, because it mostly turns the straight list of facts in the Memoirs ... preface into a dry narrative form. It does not say much about the man he was. ——— As for the sexual abuse accusations : the horrific events that occurred in the Diocese of Fairbanks and the Jesuit Oregon Province that includes Alaska (separate organisations), which has bankrupted each of them, are wholly justified in my opinion. However, as for accusations against specifically named priests and religieuse (nuns), for a few – including Llorente - please do not forget that these are brand new accusations of supposed events 50 to 60 years in the past against men and women who cannot face their accusers from their graves. The accuser's names will never be revealed; the validity of claims can never be read or questioned or challenged; and as for the public – which includes you and me – we will never know for certain which cases have been deemed valid by lawyers for the accusers and the religious authorities resulting in the settlements (most of them, in my opinion), and which were deemed false (more than a couple, in my opinion). I can tell for a fact that a few accusers' statements specifically about Llorente (as well as about a religieuse (Mother Superior) from Montana) I have seen published in a couple of newspapers can be easily dismissed as patently false (e.g. including some preposterous basic descriptions about them, such as physical height, weight, even nationality, etc.). I can only guess some of the accusers' motives. Hi - I saw the back and forth about the Johnston-for-mayor section but I'm not clear on how you think the section should be worded. Ia your position that the whole thing was a publicity stunt but the section sounds like it was a serious run for office? If that's it, aren't there any reliable sources that make that point, because if so I would support adding something to the section saying that. The tag on its own, in my opinion, doesn't do what you want it to and just raises questions. No big deal, but I'm (mildly) interested. I've edited the article sporadically since 2009, not because of any real interest in this insignificant media creation but because despite my opinion of him, at times the editing was rather biased and if it's going to exist at all, it needs to be neutral. I'm not sure I know what you're asking, nor am I particularly expert in WPs fair use policy. I presume you are asking whether use on a Gallery page like this can be fair use, rather than about rationales on individual images. I think the Gallery may be fair use as a project-tracking device, but probably should have only thumbnail-size images (which I guess those are). I'm curious why you would change the album name for my Midnight in Memphis entry in the list of Rock Instrumentals. The version I posted was legit. It was recorded for the sessions for the Really album and included in the Definitive Collection. I noticed today that the Cissna page was out of date, as it had her as a still-serving House member. Curious, I checked on the Bettye Davis site, which was dreadfully out of date for the same reason and I fixed it without extensive references as it's a fairly obscure page.

Since you're considerably more in touch with Alaska legislative politics than am I, I wonder if you'd consider looking at the other members in both houses, especially those whose terms have ended this year and updating. Just saw your post a minute ago. I haven't had any time to look at Wikipedia in a while. You're quite correct. I defer to your more extensive fund of information on AK politics. I'm not sure why Sharon wasted her filing fee. There has been zero campaign, reflected in the lack of traction. Phone messages left for her after her announcement and e-mail both went unanswered. I saw the contributions filing last week and see Vondesaar, Homer's version of Theresa Obermeyer, is in second place with less than $200 for the quarter. Actually, I'm thinking he's actually more like that bag lady from FBX who ran Senate, was it, about 20 years ago. Sylvia something? If Alaska were Nevada, "None of the above" could sweep the primaries and general elections. You live in Fairbanks? I had no idea. I thought you were a Washington State radio person or a punk rock band :-). Given her name recognition, I expect she might win the primary if the party doesn't put out a mailer for Matt. Now, on to Gabrielle LeDoux. Once again, big gaping holes which require addressing. First, Kurt LeDoux ran for Kodiak's Senate seat in 1982 as a Democrat, unsuccessfully challenging the Republican incumbent, Bob Mulcahy. Gabrielle LeDoux was herself a Democrat for many years, including originally filing as such in 2004 before switching to the Republicans at the last minute.

I didn't realize she had switched. I haven't paid much attention to Kodiak since Zharoff left office. I do remember that LeDoux hugely outraised Ogg, with most of her money coming from lawyers and labor from Anchorage. Can't remember if she had a general election opponent. She ran, unsuccessfully, for the house in 2000. Her mayor's win was nonpartisan, right? Activist ( talk)

Second, she moved to Anchorage not long after leaving her House seat. She ran against Pete Petersen in 2010. Petersen himself could also be classified as a carpetbagger, considering that he ran in 2004 against Bob Lynn, who represents a district clear on the opposite side of Anchorage. Contrast the Petersen-LeDoux race with the first race in the new district in 2002, when media accounts specifically pointed out the deep roots that both Tom Anderson and Owen Carey had in East Anchorage. "Carpetbagger" is a term that originally meant moving from a Northern state to run in the Deep South, after the Civil War, didn't it? Moving a few miles in Anchorage would seem to be a bit of a stretch, to warrant that label. Anderson's race of course was the one before McGuire made Tom stop wearing the wire and he was indicted at the end of his final year in the House. The only district which jogs my memory, unfortunately, was the kerfuffle over which district Valdez and maybe Whittier would be redistricted into in 2002. (Harris scored?) Funny you should mention that, after two vetoes the Governor finally let funding go through for the Homer gas line this year, something that has apparently been in the works for about forty years. It already extended as far as Anchor Point, only fifteen miles away. He seemed to think we either had not proven we wanted it enough or had to many old hippies who wouldn't vote for him, depends who you ask. So at the moment most of us still use stove oil and/or wood. And now I hear both Monitor and Toyo are going to quit makings the heaters we are all so familiar with up here. Apparently Alaska was more or less the only remaining market for them. Of course it will be years before there is actually the infrastructure to actually get it into homes, maybe decades in my neighborhood, we were just about the last area in Homer proper to get water and sewer lines, and we still don't have pavement.

I almost wonder if this pipeline warrants an aricle, it has been a long time in the making and has been the subject of near-constant press in this part of the state for the last several years. Ok, I'm up late and rambling. Normally at this time of year I am up in your neck of the woods catching grayling and soaking in the hot springs, had to cancel this year unfortuantely. It would be nice to know this for future edits of any kind relating to the two roads. Google Maps shows AK 3 exiting onto Airport Way but existing signage (which you are obviously familiar with) disagrees.

I have seen the Alaska Educational Radio System name on numerous construction permits across Alaska, not just on the Kenai. Not sure what they are planning, maybe a statewide network, I am not sure. Well, you have a heck of a lot more personal info regarding the process than the average reporter or political wonk. I'm glad I asked. I thought that Paskavan was gerrymandered out of office.

I don't remember Moyer's reelection. I happened to be in Fairbanks on election day in '88 and the day prior, and volunteered to work on Tom's campaign, waving signs on streetcorners, etc. I was with him when the results trickled in that Tuesday night. It wasn't a gubernatorial election year so the voting wasn't terribly heavy. Late that night, I looked at the returns that had come from all the precincts but one. I think I'd seen about five, and they were all close majorities for Tom's opponent. I needed to get to bed and leave town after a meeting in the morning, so I said that I appreciated all the energy and time he'd put into his campaign. I said I was sorry that he'd lost. He said, "No, I won." I figured he was daft, but didn't realize it was the university precinct that hadn't come in. Of course he won that precinct (the core of Niilo's old district) handily, and the race. I was very embarrassed.

First off, I agree with tagging the section as incomplete. While I don't do it anymore, for years I watched many county articles nationwide, and as such I've often seen people add non-CDPs to CDP sections, having misunderstood what a CDP is. For this reason, we really really need to have an article on a community (or a citation to the Census Bureau or the GNIS) before putting it into a CDP section on a county or borough article. I definitely wouldn't object to a restoration with citation! I don't think that 1980 or 1990 CDPs have been suppressed; it's simply that we don't have information easily available for them, and most people aren't going to go digging for information to write about them. Meanwhile, lots of people have been writing about the new 2010 CDPs; presumably Alaska's not gotten much attention because...it's Alaska and not many people pay attention to it. Meanwhile, my removal of the Fairbanks neighborhoods was a matter of practicality and standard practise — nationwide, we don't include lists of city neighborhoods in county articles. They definitely deserve to be mentioned, but in the city article or in a piece of prose in the borough article's not-yet-created history section; including places that are neither cities nor unincorporated areas in this section is at variance with what we do nationwide, since Fairbanks neighborhoods are already covered with a link to Fairbanks. Not that you don't have plenty on your plate, but the Susan Butcher article has large chunks that are straight rip-off from Source 1. I added the NYT obit to references, but would like to have a couple other sources as I am lousy at rewrites and pussyfooting around text. What would be most useful at this point would be if you could somehow get the text of the Talbott article (ref 14) from the News-Miner which seems to have been a main source for the version of the article I reverted to. If we knew what parts of that article were sourced then we would know what we need to beef up. If you have time you could check and insert inline citations (I guessed on some Talbotts), otherwise i will tackle it when I get back. No crisis, the article is as good or better than it was at the beginning of May.

I've been trying to tighten up the Alaska political corruption probe page, which needs a lot of work. I've done quite a bit over time and recently. However, my efforts to get irrelevant and apparently libelous materials and harangues off the page have been frustrated by one or two posters (there may be sock puppetry there). You usually have some good suggestions and you've been involved in editing the page for some time. Have you any thoughts about it that might be helpful? I posted prior text to the BLP Noticeboard last night. Got some good feedback from one editor. I think there's been more but I've just gotten back on line after being off since the wee hours this a.m. so I'll look for that in a minute.

You don't see anything that ties the whole matter into the actual subject of the article because there isn't anything. You're right about Lisa, of course. There was a very tenuous connection between her land deal in Kenai and the Polar Pen investigation through Bob Penney's connection to Ted's "chalet." But the connection was remote. In the case of Duncan and ASEA, there's none, of course. There was actually a connection between Polar Pen and Ketchikan. Frank Prewitt, Weimar and Cornell wanted to build a rent-a-pen on Gravina Island, with the feds pitching in a quarter of a billion to build the necessary bridge and an intertie. It didn't go anywhere because the Borough Assembly knew better and Bill W. and Frank P. turned their attention to where they thought they had better action: In Wrangell, where Robin Taylor was involved, and Whittier, where the mayor, the city administrator (for a "city" of 182 people), and the harbormaster all had their fingers in the pie. I don't think the schemers ever wanted to build in Whittier, where there's no labor force, the tunnel problem, tsunamis, avalanche and probably a potential Superfund problem, but it was the mechanism they were using to get the state to change the law to favor their various schemes. If they were able to do that, they could have built anywhere. Knowles wasn't going for it, as were many legislators who gave it the fish eye. I was reading the page for Susan Lindauer, as her name came up in a search I did. It's an OK article, though I wasn't sure what to do with an ADN link for an article behind a paywall. I did insert the reporter's name and edited the URL. Then I hit on the link to her dad's page. I couldn't hardly believe it. There's almost nothing in there about his 1990 "campaign" for governor, when he stepped aside for Wally, very late in the game. There's only the briefest mention of his 1998 race for governor, nothing about Tony or Robin or Jerry (who also stepped aside, but for Coghill in 1990, only to join him again). I think that the page has been well scrubbed.

Weird.

Hi. Please do not add unsourced material to articles, as you did with this edit to Sgt. Slaughter. Material in articles, especially that which goes to a subject's notability, must be accompanied by citations of secondary sources, which a veteran editor like you should know by now. The WWE's own website is not a secondary source, that's a primary source. In addition, those sources need to be in the article, and not in an edit summary. "The sky is blue" does not. Good timing with the oogruk post. I'd just come across two Alaskan rivers that I was curious about. Is Anikovik River derived from anak (excrement) as is Anaktuvuk Pass? The other is Itkillik River. Would the use of Itkillik be derogatory or just a simple statement? Just noticed that could be spelt "itqiliq" in other dialects. One other thing. My knowledge of Inupiaq is rather limited, but place names are often portmanteau words. I believe the ending "vik" or "vuk" refers to a place or direction. Ukpiaġvik is the place (Barrow) to hunt snowy owls. Kaktovik (on Barter Island) is the place of seine fishing. Anaktuvuk is the place of caribou droppings, and "anak" (prounounced "uhn-uck") refers to any excrement, the "tu" is from "tuttu" (caribou). I don't know what "anik" means; it might mean sister or brother. The name for fermented seal flippers is "utruk," I think. There are different dialects in Alaska, mostly divided by the North Slope and Kobuk river. Anaktuvuk is where the mountain Inupiat live. I was surprised to hear the difference in the pronunciation of word for the Kivgik festival, for instance, with the North Slope dialect compared to those coming from Kivilina. I think that generally the people from the northern tip of Greenland southwest to Unalakleet can understand each other more easily than Spanish speakers can understand Portuguese. Thanks. I should have remembered that anik means a "woman's brother", as it is used here also at the Inuktitut Living Dictionary. Can't link directly to the word. That shows it used in Siglitun, Labrador and Inuinnaqtun. Itqiliq means Cree/Dene or Indian ( First Nations) but I don't think I have ever heard it used in any way other than an insult. It's in both the links as well. The dictionary gives several spellings for caribou, tuttu, tuttuk, tuttuq and the most common, tuktu. Most Inuinnaqtun speakers ( Cambridge Bay, Kugluktuk, Ulukhaktok) will have no difficulty in understanding other dialects to the west but will say that they can't understand people further east. Sometimes you will hear people from one community complain that the other two communities don't speak Inuinnaqtun correctly. Tumeo was one of the two Alaska public employees who sued for partner benefits. The other was Kate Wattum. They won. He left for Cleveland Heights, OH where he had family, to look after his dad. He ran there, out of the closet, for City Council and won. He went to Florida to take a department chairmanship at University of Northern Florida.

I don't remember Ryan well. He did something that aggravated me, but I can't remember what it was. I do recall that he beat Bettye Davis, who was an awful campaigner, then lost to Sharon Cissna, who wasn't great either as she proved when she won the "D" nomination for congress.

I'm not familiar with Fred Brown.

I didn't know a lot of people in Alaska public radio. Jim Sykes is one. He broadcasted from Talkeetna. I need to write him and to find out what he thinks of elective office. Earl Finkler who left Barrow for Wisconsin after maybe 30 years is another. I know some print media people who first worked for APRN affiliates.

I did want to say that I don't think that AIP ever had much of a life. Wally probably bought the ballot position, either with some quid pro quo, or perhaps with just the expectation of prospects by Lindauer and Ward. They both certainly made out. I thought what they did to Arliss was despicable.

I was trying to remember the name of the bag lady/creature from another planet who ran for US Senator and/or Governor in the late '90s. Was it Sylvia Sullivan? She may have been the first statewide candidate in Alaska to run her campaign from a shopping cart. I remember her on Ratnet, I think, being interviewed wearing a beret that was covered with some reflecting attachments. Every time she moved, they flashed from the camera lights. Either that, or she was getting signals through the fillings in her teeth and interference from them in the ether was causing those sparks. Then again, she may have been a plant to make Theresa Obermeyer look more "normal." Curious, I Googled her name and found this:

The last time I heard of anything like this happening, it was to the 1998 Alaska Independence Party (AIP) gubernatorial candidate, Sylvia Sullivan. She won the primary, but the party leadership disavowed her, refused to allow an AIP member to be on the ticket with her as Lt. On the other hand, the AIP is a fringe party, and is hardly in a position to complain about oddball behavior.

My revised hypothesis is that Sylvia may have been too liberal for them. Check out her official page and notice all the "helping the little guy" credentials. I'm now more enamored of this idea, as the AIP is associated with the ultra-right Constitution Party, the direct descendant of George Wallace's American Independent Party.

I have noticed you have changed my edit on the Alaska page. As you have pointed out, Byron Mallott was elected on Bill Walker's unity ticket. If you are not aware, a unity ticket is where two candidates from two different parties run together as running mantes. Mallott managed to secure the Democratic party's nomination for Governor. He chose, however, to merge his campaign with Walker and be his running mate. You stated that Bill Walker indentifies himself as a Republican, but he left the GOP to run for governor as an independant. You were correct in stating that Mallott is a known Democrat. However, states can have governors and lt. governors of different political parties. Walker and Mallott are no different. I would like to reference the List of current United States lieutenant governors page to you. There is are two maps on this page that have Alaska in blue, showing that Mallott is represented as a Democrat. Write back if you have any more questions. I would prefer not to get into an edit war. I was looking at the page and checked the history. This is something I don't understand. There's an entry as if in an infobox, but it doesn't visibly show in the article. It indicates that Jake died in Austin, TX, two years ago. I'm not sure how he'd feel about that. The Mark Twain quote comes to mind. I am back-the Governor of Alaska Bill Walker ordered the flags in Alaska to lower at half mast. According to the press release Bettisworth in the Alaska Legislature in 1957-1958 and 1981-1985. I checked the 100 years Alaska Legislature website and Bob Bettisworth served in the legislature from 1979-1984 which his obituary also stated. Hello RadioKAOS, Drjamesphillips came in to the Wikipedia IRC help chat, regarding the talk page message you left. He felt it was out of proportion, and I think I agree. Drjamesphillips is a new user, unfamiliar with the guidelines about overlap between categories and articles, and they appear to have meant well. Your objection to the PROD, though the reasons were valid, was I feel a bit too harsh in the wording, and seems to have hurt and discouraged Drjamesphillips. I noticed that Libby Roderick has a Wikipedia article, but her dad doesn't, though he's mentioned in a few Wikipedia articles. Hi! For the Olga Bell article, you want the lead rewritten. I did rewrite it a little, but I'm not sure what you're looking for. I'm happy to fix whatever problem there is and I do feel that writing leads is something I can work on. Hi, again. I was editing some AK politicians pages and was trying to sort out Senate Districts. I found Hollis French's article to be in need of a great deal of work and cleaned it up as best I could, being a bit tight for time. I found that Ellis, French and Gardner were all listed simultaneously as minority leader. Then I went to Johnny Ellis' article and found that an editor had inserted his birth name as "Dennis William Egan." I expect the editor was rushing and on 23 March inserted that info. I went to his or her contribution page, and found that maybe 3,000 edits had been made subsequently, almost all of them regarding elected politicians from around the world or actors on the world stage (i.e. Victoria Nuland). A few of those edits followed yours that you made to Andy Josephson's article. I wonder if you could take a look at the edits made by him or her to see if they're correct? I had changed Johnny's supposed birth name to Johnny Ellis, but I'll go back and remove that rather than research it to make sure that's correct. Well, you've been quiet so long I was quite surprised to get this much of a response. I figured you were probably busy as hell or burned out. Other than getting one, how does the PFD affect your life? I notice it's over $2,000 once again. Thanks for getting back to me. As usual, you're very helpful. I couldn't imagine how all that crap about French stayed on his (or for anyone's) article for so long... I was just appalled when I read it. I left the business about him claiming to be a marine, because I had no knowledge of the matter at all. I didn't know about the tenure issue. I knew that Johnny had served for quite some time, in the House before the Senate. I was surprised his article was so scanty. I also was aware that Lyman had served for a long time, but didn't recall how long. I knew of Hohman only by rep and through mutual (now long dead) friends, who liked him a lot and were distressed by his demise. When I started poking around in the AK legislators articles, and saw the succession for Johnny's seat, I was surprised not to see an article for Pat Pourchot, given his long and interesting career. Now Ogan, he was forgettable IMHO. I think a Vic Fischer article would be warranted too, but I'm hardly the one to do it. I wonder if Charles Wolforth edits Wikipedia? I don't know if what you're referring to is my comments on CA-23's talk page, but that's quite a district, which has wandered around central California like Moses in the desert. So I recently changed Mallott's party affiliation in Template:Current Alaska statewide political officials to Democratic from Independent. You reverted this edit claiming that sources indicated he was a Democrat. Does this source that indicates he did not change his party registration to "undeclared" in order to run as an Independent suffice? http://www.adn.com/article/20140901/walker-mallott-join-forces-governors-race He is also listed on the Alaska Democratic Party's website ( http://www.alaskademocrats.org/elected-officials/) though this he is listed along with Independent Governor Bill Walker.

I contemplated authoring an article on Jim Duncan, but stopped at Jerry Ward's, which was still a stub, after many years, and thought it deserved similar attention. I did a lot of work on it and removed the "stub" notice. If you could take a look, and see if I got it right, I'd appreciate. You have been mislead by Good olfactory's false accusations. The Germany issue is a red herring that has no relevance to Washington, DC. The District of Columbia existed in no way, shape, means or form in 1789. The only reason the Germany categories have some chance of surviving is because there was an idea of Germany before 1871. There was not any idea of Washington DC before 1790, and it was not actually created until after that date. In 1789 no one envisioned it, and actions in Georgetown were not in it. His ideas lead to placing Mosques built in 1789 as in Israel or actions done in the Indus Valley in 1789 as in Pakistan, although the person who invented that name would not be born for nearly a century. He uses one iffy issue, Germany, to try and falsely influence other places where it is 100% clear that there is no workable way to retroactively impose the modern name on the past.
