I've noticed you've removed a few CSD tags that suggested deletion under the A7 criteria. I just wanted to give you a heads up on a couple of things. The A7 criteria does not correlate to notability, but is reflective of a lack of significance and/or importance specifically presented in the article. Thank you, Cindy, for the note. "Significance" is another way to say "asserts notability" ("the subject is notable/significant"). I remove A7 tags when I see reliable sources (in the article or from my searches) that directly discuss the subject, implying passage of the GNG. That said, I recognize that A7 concerns significance presented in the text, but I prefer to take a broader look and see if it meets the GNG or an SNG so as to discourage an AfD or a PROD. • Hey there! I wouldn't have normally commented, but the deletion policy specifically rules out any correlation between significance and notability. You can review the policy here. The A7 CSD is considered the most commonly misunderstood speedy deletion criteria. The assertion of significance is not in correlation to references, unless they indicate notability in accordance with the general notability guidelines. At the same time, an article may be sourced, yet still fail to indicate significance or importance, meeting the A7 criteria for deletion. Regarding the removal of A7 tags (when you see reliable sources that imply meeting the GNG), I honestly don't see consistency in the removal. Tags have been accurately removed, where the article clearly met the A7 deletion policy. And at the same time, while you correctly declined the A7 on the Simon Westlund article, you suggested deletion through another process for a subject recognized on an international basis, receiving awards as the best in his field, presented in the se.wiki, and for which independent and reliable sources are readily available. As far as record labels, notability is not established for a label, based on roster or recordings. Record labels are organizations, which require established notability through significant coverage in reliable, secondary sources. (BTW: Launchpad Records does not include any notable artists signed to their label.) That said, while I regularly monitor deletion nominations, I didn't place the A7 CSD and I don't fault you for declining the A7, it was essentially a judgement call that you are clearly free to make. Know that this is not a desire to diminish your work, but to offer assistance where policies and guidelines have been misapplied. I honestly, just wanted to offer some help. Accept it or reject it. It's up to you. We are currently working with students presenting their work online and accordingly, it is essential that we at least attempt to address inconsistencies and noncompliance when able. • Don't get me wrong—I'm glad you started this conversation, just putting my thoughts out there.
  Tags have been accurately removed, where the article clearly met the A7 deletion policy. So are you saying that if the article does not assert significance but sources are found to meet the GNG, the article should be deleted? If substantial sources are available, there ought to be an effort to save the article. Some articles don't assert notability but if one searches for sources and finds that the subject meets the GNG, should A7 deletion be carried out nevertheless?
  I agree—I have been inconsistent in my edit summaries. I intend to write "A7 does not apply" when the tag is incorrect and "remove speedy" when I have found sources that help pass the GNG (for example, [2]).
  With regard to Simon Westlund, yes, there are sources available to verify his championship, but I am not willing to make a judgement call as to whether that meets WP:ANYBIO.

I removed some puffery in those edits. What exactly do you find blatantly non-neutral in the article? Here's what I found:

• Lead — all fact.
• "Personal life and faith" — "special appreciation for the people of Israel and have caused him to spearhead many ministries in support of Jews and Israel"
• "Journalist" — all fact.
• "Speaker" — "widely sought-after speaker", "broad perspectives ... are widely valued and deeply cherished"
• "The ten Boom Fellowship" — all fact
• "Jerusalem Prayer Team" — all fact
• "Honors" — all fact
• "Author" — "great peril of the Jewish people"
• "Documentary producer" — "EIM is a California-based 501(c) 3 non-profit organization describing itself as dedicated to quality family-oriented programming in all facets of communication."
• "Filmography" — "Jewish struggle for freedom and statehood and the forces that threaten her stability"

That's all I can see that can be construed as promotional or non-neutral. Even so, these examples do not warrant outright deletion of the article. G11 is only for articles that are "exclusively promotional, and would need to be fundamentally rewritten". That doesn't qualify here. As much as I dislike using maintenance tags, I think the best option here is to tag it with {{ peacock}} or {{ npov}}. Goodvac ( talk) 19:41, 18 December 2011 (UTC) reply

The Speaker section has hyperbole problems other than the ones you named; there appears to be a general issue with implicitly crediting Evans for things that other people did, such as having Sharansky released or interviewing Ahmadinejad; the promotional nature of the ten Boom and JPT sections. OTOH, most of this isn't sourced anyway; probably the solution is to gut the page. BLP (and V) requires that stuff be cited, and the fact that this is positive material doesn't change that. And what is sourced is cited to self-published stuff, which is not how one goes about writing an article; one reflects coverage in reliable sources, and then uses SPS to fill anything necessary in. – Roscelese ( talk ⋅ contribs) 20:19, 18 December 2011 (UTC) reply

The process in which you are participating at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Savage Sun is called articles for deletion (AfD). It usually lasts seven days; if few people have commented at the AfD, there will be a relist to allow for more opinions. One critique about your comment at the AfD: although you pointed to a specific guideline ( WP:BAND), you did not provide evidence in the form of links, which are crucial at AfD. You wrote that Savage Sun "has been the subject of multiple ... reliable sources". Provide links to these sources so other participants can reconsider their position if necessary.
Finally, for assistance from experienced editors, you can post here or place {{ helpme}} on your talk page with your request for feedback. Hi Goodvac, I've been meaning for a while to hand out a few more of these. Today I started counting up who has been doing the grunt work at the Resource Exchange over the last year. Hello my friend, I am sorry for the delay in replying to your question. Although things have now moved on and it is clear what the ship's track was for her last hour or so, yes, my information came partly from that publication, but also from the AIS data which showed her track (although the last AIS info I saw had her on a heading of (from memory) 010 degrees and a speed of just over a knot.) Also a look at the available charts of the area clearly shows the reef we are talking about. Further, the pictures (stills & video) showed her where she currently is and a lot of confusion may have occurred because of her orientation, as well as the gash on her port quarter. The VDR will confirm this, but I expect that she was turning to starboard (away from the shore) at the time of impact. Anyway, greetings to you. I really think this article is too problematic to be restored, even though he is arguably notable. I appreciate that you have attempted to salvage what is, after all, an apparent autobiography (see initial editor), but

• is a New Zealand photographer whose pictures examine the strange anthropology of cities around the world. Working and living between Auckland and Paris his practice investigates the nature of reality and the relationship between parallel lives... His work deals with the democracy of non-places in the knowledge that nothing is as it seems. — I find it difficult to see in what sense this is encyclopaedic, factual, and neutral, rather than a publicity blurb.
• The lack of any personal information, even city of birth, DoB etc, suggests the intention is to publicise what he's done, rather than tell us anything about him.
• I appreciate that you have added references, but because they are not in-line, it makes it difficult to see what parts of the factual text (books, exhibitions etc) each is verifying
• Photo education is an important part... — pov posing as fact.
• I'm astonished that you think that a section headed Praise, laden with unsourced quotes (names given, no actual sources), is acceptable. It's obvious self-promotion. Where is the Negative criticism section?
• The article was created in a single edit without wikilinks or references, and looks as if was copied from an unknown and possibly copyrighted source.

If you really think it's worth trying to get this to be more that a vanity page for its original creator, let me know and I'll sandbox it for you to work on. I disagree that we should be ascribing motives to article creators and deleting pages based on them, however manifest those motives are. All that matters is the quality of the article. I admit, the article had parts that were POV-laden, but POV ≠ promotion, so outright deletion was unnecessary. As for the section header "Praise", that was my mistake—it was odd to have a list of quotes floating at the bottom of the article, but I couldn't think of a suitable header.

Goodvac, you're killing me. Why the double-standard? Whoever created the Sprinkles Wiki entry makes claims only substantiated by erroneous media reports in local daily papers, not by top-notch culinary researchers or experts. The articles sited are NOT written about thorough investigation of which bakeries are cupcake-only. The mentions, if/where they exist are asides.

However, that Sprinkles is cupcakes-only is more than implied, articles or not. Cupcake Royale exists down the street from me. Yes, they will make you a beverage out of coffee beans. Otherwise, all they do is CUPCAKES. That's it. And, that's why people come to them. It's very well known, from NPR to the NY Times. I just can't find a sentence for the dense amongst us that say "Cupcake Royale is a cupcake only bakery. Want a photo? How else would you like this substantiated? Maybe I can grab a crappy blogger's quote that says Cupcake Royale is indeed Cupcakes Only. Maybe one can be made up, posted and then referenced.

See what I'm saying? Let's be smarter.

Until someone contests Cupcake Royale's existence as a cupcakes-only bakery, I think it absurd that we question it as being so when there's zero hard evidence that Sprinkles had no predecessor. In fact, there's plenty of evidence to the contrary but Sprinkles gains fame, notoriety and economic benefit from claiming they're the first. C'mon!

So, want a PICTURE of their bakery/bakeries? A quote from the owner????

Double standard for what? I wrote the Sprinkles Cupcakes entry, and all the sources are reliable and sufficiently support the cited text. "[T]op-notch culinary researchers or experts" are not necessary.
I question it because I have seen multiple sources, listed on your talk page, that state explicitly that Sprinkles was the first. If "there's plenty of evidence to the contrary" and Cupcake Royale is "very well known, from NPR to the NY Times", then there must be reliable sources you can bring to the table. Credo Reference, who generously donated 400 free Credo 250 research accounts to Wikipedia editors over the past two years, has offered to expand the program to include 100 additional reference resources. Credo wants Wikipedia editors to select which resources they want most. So, we put together a quick survey to do that:

Dear Goodvac, Thanks for your patient tutelage with my sign-in issue. My problem was that I was not reading the boxes right on my email sign-in. It had said "new email address" and it had not occurred to me that I could type in something there because the box to the right of it contained my Wiki user name--it wasn't blank. So I thought it was a box for my user name. It didn't occur to me to type my new email address over top of it, until I read your recommendation that I try this. Bottom line and good news: I did type in my new email overtop of my user name, AND IT WORKED. You gave me some helpful feedback on my article "Ralph Waldo Tyler" in the past so I'm wondering if you good again. An editor orphaned the article I created entitled "Ralph Waldo Tyler". The problem, he says, is that I was not linked to any other wikipedia article. So I added verifiable information on Tyler to the "Emmett Jay Scott" article and created a link from the Tyler article to the Scott article. Is this all I need to do? I want to get feed back from another editor on wikipedia before I "undo" the original editor's orphaning.
