I have been researching the Faroe Islands, just cause I think the country is really really neat and quite beautiful. Since you are from the Faroe Islands, I am hoping you could answer a question for me. While checking out a couple sites on the country, one directed me to American website wunderground.com for weather information and I saw that the daylight there was 24 hours long. This struck me as odd since it is south of the Arctic Circle. My question is does the Faroe Islands experience 24 hour daylight in the summer and 24 hour darkness in the winter? Thanks... Neutralhomer • Talk • 22:10, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Answer: Hello. In midsummer we have daylight for many hours, but we don't have midnight sun like they have in Iceland and Northern Norway. The sun goes down at around 22 or 23 and rises again a couple of hours later, at around 2 or 3 in the morning. It does not get dark at all, but it is not daylight either. In December it is the opposite, we almost don't see the sun at all, but it is not completely dark. The sun rises around 10 and the sunset is around 15. There are some really great sunrises in late november and in December, the sky can get all pink or orange, beautiful. On cloudy days in December and January it doesn't get really light at all. In villages which have a mountain to the south the sun is so low on the sky, it doesn't rise above the mountain. I live in Vágur in Suðuroy, the people who live down by the sea don't see the sun from late November to late January. I live a bit up on a mountain, and we see the sun a bit longer for a few hours in the morning, but at 11 or noon the sun goes behind a mountain on the southern side of the fjord. Hi Eileen. I noticed the good work you've been doing on the Faroese football articles. I just wanted to let you know about a recent change i've made on the Rógvi Jacobsen article, about the "won caps" and "played Caps". The reason someone had wrote 'won caps' is, because years ago in the UK when a player played for his country he would recieve a cap (a hat) for each match he played in. This has been phased out in more modern times (otherwise that would be alot of caps), but to this day people still call it caps instead of appearances. Anyway i decided to change it to "He has 52 caps for..." and left out either word "won" or "played". Bobbymozza ( talk) 19:32, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
Hi Bobbymossa. Ok, I didn't know that, thanks for telling me :) EileenSanda ( talk) 19:45, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
I was wondering if you are aware that in the info boxes, they count league matches only. I noticed on the the Géza Turi article the stats didn't seem to add up and on the Christian Mouritsen article they were very diferent from my original research. I know it's strange being league matches only, but that's how they do it. There was discussion about it before on the wikiproject but they thought it would be too much work changing every article so they're all consistant. Cup appearances are usually just mentioned in Player statistics charts (example here) and sometimes in the text. Faroesoccer.com can be a pain because they don't seperate league from cup appearaances on the player profiles. But if you click on the teams on the Vodafonedeildin page, they have stats for league appearances, B36 Bobbymozza ( talk) 16:16, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
Answer: Hi Bobbymozza, no, I wasn't aware of that, so it is very good that you tell me. In the beginning I did only count the league matches, but later I thougt that it takes so much time to separate the league matches from the other matches, that I just counted all of the matces, I thougt that it probably didn't matter. But now I know, thanks for telling me. Yes, it is a pain ... that FaroeSoccer doesn't separate the league matches from the cup matches, but except for that I am very happy for the statistics on FaroeSoccer. I would wish that they had statistics about the national matches for Faroe Islands and the youth national matches (U21, U19, U17 and U15), there is almost nothing to find on Football.fo about the youth national teams. Well, anyway, you do a great job on Wikipedia regarding the Faroese football! EileenSanda ( talk) 18:30, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi Eileen, I see you are native in the Faroese language and I was wondering if you could help me translate a document? I'm trying to understand what this says, and there aren't any online translators that I can find for the language.
For background, you can look at the discussion at Talk:Enlargement_of_the_eurozone/Archive_1#Template:Potential_Euro_adoption_future, which I've just discovered. There seems to be some misunderstanding in the english language source which says "The islands’ influential Independence Party has applied to the central bank of the European Union to replace the Danish krona, which it has used for more than a century, with the euro." However, based on a Danish speaker's understanding, it appears to be more of a law of the Løgting. Can you clarify what it discusses? A proposal to adopt the euro? A study on whether they should adopt the euro before mainland Denmark? Plans in case Denmark decides to adopt the euro?
Also, if you have any update on what became of these discussions that would be great. Any insight would be much appreciated! TDL ( talk) 03:02, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

How did you become interested in editing Wikipedia pages and did you have any initial fears/hesitations when you started editing pages? 3. Have you ever been a victim of a mass deletion or other vandalism on Wikipedia? If yes, please explain the situation to me. 4. How would you describe your gender? 5. Is there anything else you would like to share with me about your experiences as a Wikipedia editor? I would like you to know that I am only sharing my research with my professor and the other students in my class. If you would like me to send you a copy of my final project, I would be more than happy to! Sincerely, Stelba90 ( talk) 01:26, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
Hi. I was wondering if you would be interested in contributing articles to Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic)? It needs contributors to increase diversity of content from different countries and bring about large scale improvements. The idea at some point will be to host a National Contest related to your country of interest. Thanks. -- MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 13:14, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. -- Ser Amantio di Nicolao Che dicono a Signa? Lo dicono a Signa. 05:57, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

Should the women's football task force become WikiProject: WOSO? |
According to an op-ed in the recent Signpost, some editors think task forces and subgroups are dying in 2017. What do you think about forming our own WikiProject separate from WP:FOOTY? There's an on-going discussion of the potential pros and cons on the task force talk page. Input is welcome. |
New initiatives have been created for:
While WP:FPL lists only two women's top-division leagues as notable due to its "fully professional" criteria, did you know you can create an article on any player in any league as long as the references meet WP:GNG guidelines? Make sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}. Have some new articles in mind or see some that need improvement? Add them to the Open Tasks page if you'd like and other editors may be able to help. Need tips, assistance, or resources from other WOSO editors? Leave a message on the task force talk page. |

Hello WOSO editors! A few initiatives have been started with an emphasis on making more WOSO links blue (similar to the work that WikiProject Women in Red does) and filling in the gaps within various league, team, and player, etc. articles. If you're interested in collaborating with others to make more links blue, take a look at the initiatives listed in the box below. Sign up at the bottom of an initiative page and help grow the lists, add potential references, resources, and create the articles ... or create your own initiative.

Hello Eileen. I was hoping you could help with a query about this election. From what I can make of page 136 of this Løgting publication, the 1854 elections should have been for one-third of the legislature (although it is not clear how they could elect one-third of 16 members). However, the list of elected members in 1854 (on page 139) has eight people, which potentially makes more sense (and is inline with subsequent elections in which half the members were elected each time). Are you able to make any sense of this apparent contradiction? Cheers, Number 5 7 19:02, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
Hello EileenSanda,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Guide to Faroe Islands for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

EileenSanda ( talk) 22:12, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello, EileenSanda,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Sigri Mitra Gaïni should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sigri Mitra Gaïni .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Hello Eileen. I'm about to start creating articles for Faroese elections between 1906 and 1945. I have the vote figures, but do not have the number of seats won by each party. OK, that's what I have done. Just one more question - the Business Party (Faroe Islands) appears to have been the forerunner of the People's Party (Faroe Islands) (at least according to the Norwegian article, which says the People's Party was formed by a merger of the Business Party and some people leaving the Self-Government Party). However, this is not what the People's Party article says - does it need to be corrected? Cheers, Number 5 7 21:47, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

He has recently won his first UCI points at the Himmerland Rundt in Denmark, which is part of the Europe Tour 2016 and a few days ago he won a cycling race in Denmark called Marcello Bergamo Cup (also known as Pinsecuppen in Danish), he won one of the stages (the second of three) and was the winner of the general classification. I think that WP:GNG applies to Veyhe now. TV2 i one of the largest Danish TV-channels in Denmark, it is private and has also local channels, this one the TV2 Øst is for Eastern Jutlandia with Aarhus, where the team comes from. The other source is Feltet.dk, which was established in 2003 and three years later became the latgest cycling-internet website of Scandinavia. @ EileenSanda: At this time, I'm not going to perform more research regarding this subject, because I am working on other matters. If you would like, I can userfy the article for you to User:EileenSanda/Torkil Veyhe or another suitable title of your choosing, where you can improve the content to demonstrate that the subject meets notability guidelines. After this, if you feel that the subject meets notability guidelines, you can then place {{Userspace draft}} atop the page and then select the "Submit your draft for review" link, which will submit the entry to Articles for creation, where your submission can be reviewed. I strongly recommend taking this route, whereby an uninvolved, third-party reviewer can assess the notability of the subject. Note that if the article were to be republished verbatim in the state that it was in at the time of deletion, it would qualify for speedy deletion per WP:G4 as a recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion.

Women's Football / Soccer Task Force News: April 2018 |
Hello WOSO editors! A few initiatives have been started with an emphasis on making more WOSO links blue (similar to the work that WikiProject Women in Red does) and filling in the gaps within various league, team, and player, etc. articles. If you're interested in collaborating with others to make more links blue, take a look at the initiatives listed in the box below. Sign up at the bottom of an initiative page and help grow the lists, add potential references, resources, and create the articles ... or create your own initiative.
WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in 1 active women's league)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in two currently active women's leagues)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

Why did you revert me? it’s false info. Gameshowandsportsfan2007 ( talk) 15:29, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
Hi EileenSanda,
"Sandvík (re-established as a settlement in the early 19th century)" and "Fámara (re-established in 2010) - that's overly detailed for the introduction. I added this in the new history section.
The article Hans á Lag has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Footballer and sportsman who fails GNG, NFOOTY and NSPORTS
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your
edit summary or on
the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the
proposed deletion process, but other
deletion processes exist. In particular, the
speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and
articles for deletion allows discussion to reach
consensus for deletion.

A tag has been placed on Category:MC-Hár albums indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read!
Thanks!

Hi 49ersBelongInSanFrancisco, just in relation to this, I was about to nominate the article for Speedy Deletion (A7) also, when I noticed your tag was removed by Liz. Instead, I've moved the article to Draft:Guide to Faroe Islands as it's clearly not ready for mainspace yet. Bastun Ėġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 12:47, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
Hi EileenSanda, I am messaging you because you are one of the only members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Swimming. I am trying to revitalize the project and have begun to do that by clearing the entire >4000 long unassessed article quality backlog. I have consolidated the goals/todos that already existed in the project (getting rid of the unrealistic ones and replacing them with feasible goals), and created a roadmap for their implementation. Please could you let me know if you would like to assign yourself to a task or have any feedback on the roadmap or the project in general? It is a wonderful world ( talk) 10:39, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
