Hello TParis,
I wanted to extend a word of appreciation on two fronts at this time. First, as an aging American, I wanted to thank you for all you do in real life to protect our country. Now, secondly I'd like to note with appreciation the role you accepted in the recent recall procedure at Courcelles talk page. As I believe that you hold Courcelles in high regard (as I do), then I would have to think that it was not always an easy task to remain objective and dispassionate at various times and throughout some of the postings. I think you did an excellent job at clerking a difficult set of threads. Thank you for your work there. With a great deal of respect and admiration, I wish you and yours all the very best. Cheers. — Ched : ? 09:53, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi. You deleted and redirected the One Direction member articles as the result of WP:Articles for deletion/Louis Tomlinson. I saw WP:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive746#Canvassing in AFD and noticed that there might be a WP:Merge and delete problem, as User:Werldwayd copied the articles back during the AfD. The diff is messy, but I cleaned it up off-wiki and saw that approximately ten sentences with a small amount of creativity had been added.
I think that an attribution fix is necessary. The easiest method is to restore the page histories while leaving the protection in place. If a user wanted to defy consensus and recreate the articles at different names, the text is already accessible at One Direction#Members. Let me know if I should contact User:JohnCD, who closed WP:Articles for deletion/Louis Tomlinson (2nd nomination). I can go to WP:Deletion review if you think the formal process is necessary. Thanks. Hello! I recently saw that you're in the Air Force, and I was wondering if you could help me out with some sources. In my sandbox I'm working on an article for Eskan Village AB in Riyadh, KSA. I started working on the page a year and a half ago, and ran into a roadblock when I noticed the only source I could find was globalsecurity.org. I was wondering if you would happen to know about any additional sources I could look at, or even where I could go to get additional info. Any help would be much appreciated! Also, what's your AFSC? Reading through Why I Hate Speedy Deleters again and had a thought. Feel free to tell me if my perception isn't particularly new or novel. The term itself "Speedy Delete" naturally brings up an image that this is an efficient and easy way to simply delete something, just like AFD but quicker, when in fact, it is a completely different process. Maybe we invite misuse by the name itself. We have speedy delivery, buy gas using "Speed Passes", we "Speed Dial" with our phones, "Speedy" was the mascot for Alka Seltzer. We speed walk, speed in our cars and a few drug abusers take "speed" to stay up all night and get more work done. In all these examples, "Speed" simply means to do the same thing only faster. Since "speedy delete" is not the same thing as a fast AFD, but is instead a process to remove material that clearly and obviously does not belong and to which a discussion isn't really necessary. Here at Wikipedia, the equivelent of "Speed Dial" isn't CSD, it is "Snow delete", "Snow keep" or "Speedy keep" at AFD. The name itself does seem to feed the misconception about the proper uses for it, and a different name *may* lead to a different perception of what it is. It may be wishful thinking, but we are preconditioned to prejudge something by its name, or else you wouldn't have cars named "Cougar", "Viper" or "Mustang". As someone who has spent more than two decades in marketing, my experience is that a name makes all the difference in how something is perceived. When we take a very mundane (or even marginal) product and put a sexy name on it, that is called "putting lipstick on a pig", as you haven't changed what it is, only people's first impression of it. And it sells. As humans, we like terms that are easy to judge, and it is difficult to get us to see something in a different light once the first impression is established. Obviously, the very idea of changing a name is huge and beyond the scope of any talk page or single venue, and this may be no more than an academic exercise, but I am interested in your thoughts on this since you appear to have a passion about the topic. Hi I don't really understand how to do things here, I was going to post this request challenging the deletion -- User:zoeblackmore sorry if i get it wrong. This artist career is taking off, this deletion is premature. Her mix-tape and F64 both received very positive critical acclaim, she has a world wide contract with Sony, she is touring and remixes of her first single are out (actual release June/July). Her mix-tape and a re-mix of her first single have already featured on BBC radio 1 and BBC radio 1 xtra. Maybe the page was in its infancy, but should be expanded rather than deleted. (I must admit i don't understand how to do the later of the steps in the deletion review 3-6 request). The was an identical page under Misha B that has been deleted too...one page should be restored. Misha has suffered various attacks online and I am not sure if this deletion is one of them. Zoeblackmore ( talk) 21:39, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
Yup as a novice I did get a little confused :) was going to post to DRV and was unsure of how to contact you, but then worked it out and contacted you first. I believe the is enough evidence to say her career has taken off, enough to not warrent the temporary deletion of the article. I lament that you are struggling with the content reversion which occurred at the current open ArbCom case. It is not because it affects your !vote, (those are small potatoes) but because it appears to affect your apportionment of rightful tranquility. My comments to follow are a predominant endeavor to restore that tranquility, irrespective of the RfA.
ArbCom has been beset by a near constant decry since Betacommand/3, throughout Rich Farmbrough, unto the current open case. Consider this thread, opened before the current case and still open. where I initiated this point, formally; in motion.
I believe there should be a delineated process to formally object to an inclusion on some ground, requiring the committee either sustain or overrule the objection in proximity. There are too many things that should be "removed, refactored, or redacted" which are not! and legitimate objections fall upon blind eyes.Removed, refactored, or redacted is straight out of the current policy language; for a provision impotent from absence of deed
Along with the above, do trust me when I say there are many other links I could have shown, and will if that is for you, necessary. And remain cognizant that this is an evidence page and the portent of its existence has (not might have) an impact on a living person. By the venues nature this impact is significant! From that mindset consider the remarks by Cla68. Temper this consideration by asking yourself if it passes muster for BLP inclusion; for a similar motivation is at core. Weigh this consideration against the following hypothetical which premises a scenario where you were the central party at an ArbCom case and I opened evidence against you as if in the following manner.
TParis as been admonished by a number of Commons administrators for synonymous conduct in the past. His refusal to adhere to their caution, while mocking its relevance, is evident by his actions; simply for having uploaded the file! [dif] which is the exact counter-equivalent of the counsel, he had been shown.
For the scenario, let's premise that I am a Commons administrator and I strongly dislike you but this can not be proven, nor is it known, even by you.
I presume you would agree that such a statement in kind would sit in damaging light if held to stand against you especially if for example that number "of Commons administrators" happened to be one (perhaps even me). Isn't it better for everyone, if even by deeds of enforcement, for proactive measures to be in vogue? Measures that would require evidence to meet a BLP standard, where we couldn't weasel in puffed sentiments and vague innuendo. If you simply read any closed case, you will see that they do not pass the simple scrutiny of applying a BLP inclusion standard.
That is unacceptable to me, and LR is practically one of the first I've ever seen to lay measure on such an important page as an ArbCom case. Though stifling chastisement is the oft consequence of doing a right thing, as you apparently know, it is still counterproductive, as you are now struggling to remember. I honestly hope this gives you enough perspective to allow for your understanding why people were in predominant support of LR's action. Very best regards - My76Strat ( talk) 05:26, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

I'm wondering how many blocks there are per day/week/month and how many of the blocks are on IPs, new editors (edits <10), unestablished editors (10< edits < 1000), established editors (1000< edits <10000) and very established editors (edits>10000). Is this something that is possible to find out? Are the numbers so massive that it makes it a bad idea to even try? Would it be better to take a database dump and sift through it using some code (something I could do at home) or would a database report do the job? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I see TPBot now doesn't update adminstats for non-admins (e.g. [21]). In this instance, Pek the Penguin is not an administrative account, but it is my alternative account. I had adminstats set up for this account (even though most of the fields were zero), so that the total number of normal edits could be added to my own total. Would you reconsider your decision to disable adminstats for non-admins? I doubt there are many non-admin accounts to make much difference. Thanks. An optimist on the run! 11:55, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I want to use articleInfo data externally - to show some of it's data (only from the "General statistic" part) on external site or as user script within wikipedia itself.
Specially, I want to get "Total revisions" for articles, and to use it for a research ( [22]). Currently I use the API, but it doesn't give revisions count directly and I have to count it by multiple requests to the API. I thought of downloading the database dump, however it will not give up to date statistics. So I think your tool can help me :)
For doing so I would like to have some JSONP API for this tool (something like http://toolserver.org/~tparis/articleinfo/index.php?article=XXX&lang=XX&wiki=XXX&format=jsonp&callback=CALBACKFUNCTION). Does it have jsonp API? If it doesn't, would it be possible to add it? if this tool is open source (?) and its source sits in some open repository (github?) I can write it myself. JSONP API could also be used for users scripts such as User:Equazcion/SidebarHistoryTools, and to allow integration of articleInfo data within Wikipedia interface. Thanks, Eran ( talk) 17:15, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
Hi, TParis. It's hopefully just a quick question, I was wondering if there was a tool on Wikipedia to view how many reports I have made (e.g. At WP:AIV), how many were successful and how many were unsuccessful, to see where I (if ever!) have gone wrong, so I can see how to improve. Misha Bryan is releasing her single in four weeks time and she is also signed to Sony Music. Also with all that went on with the X Factor bullying and stuff a page should be created for her as she is signed to a major label.
Any progress on your investigation of the {{

this. Another interesting pathology is
this.
I reverted its edits for this task for today, some of which have many consecutive edits over the last seven weeks. That leaves some articles with {{

, a value I was not aware of. Hopefully that should make a good test case when it is fixed. Cheers! —

In WP:Articles for deletion/Harmony Central, you closed the discussion as "Merge to Guitar Center". Happy that the lid's been finally closed on this discussion after a month, but it just occurs to me that the Harmony Central (harmonycentral.net) in the context of Guitar Center is not the same thing as the Harmony Central (harmonycentral.com) that was proposed for deletion! I've been giving this some thought and I wanted to consult an editor I am particularly close with. This user has been giving out Reviewer when users ask for it. I don't see this as a big problem as that is the reason WP:PERM is there. My problem I see is this user seems to be blatantly handing out the bit without reviewing the applicant's contributions, if they can be trusted and if they demonstrate a need for this. I pointed this out to this user but the biggest concern was when this user handed out Reviewer rights to 5 users within a minute when 1 of them didn't demonstrate the need for it anyways. I would like to get a second opinion on this as thought of bringing this to AN has occurred to me. (outdent) I am not upset; please do me the courtesy of not loading me with sentiments or emotions which exist only in your imagination. I am not interested in "winning" except in the context of us all winning by making Wikipedia a better resource. Your framing this as a battleground is missing or misrepresenting my efforts completely. I merely asked why you told me to be more polite, as I wish to not be rude. It seems that was some kind of point you were trying to make on your part, the thrust of which i still don't understand; so I asked why didn't you simply say what you mean? I'm still wondering. Why didn't you? This is not good communications, and muddies the water rather than helping improve the situation. KillerChihuahua ?!? 14:01, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Ok... I said I was now done, meaning even if M accused me of something else I was not going to bother to defend myself. Why should you believe me? I'm thinking AGF might apply here. Until and unless I renege, and continue, you should assume I'm going to do what I say. What I was "dishing out" was a direct piece of advice to be more polite to someone who had clearly and obviously violated the NPA policy. So if you were to "dish out" to me what I was "dishing out" to him, it was incumbent upon you to find a policy I had violated and advise me not to do so. I think my advice was phrased rather gently. I made no threats or dire pronouncements. I still don't understand why you felt you should counter attack me for merely advising someone to follow policy. I don't understand how you accusing me of being rude, when I had not been, was somehow an attempt to diffuse the situation. In my experience, false accusations, even by implication, rarely diffuse situations. I still don't understand what you think I was "being silly" about. I am inclining towards the belief that you think I should keep my mouth shut when someone makes personal attacks. Is that the case? KillerChihuahua ?!? 14:43, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Right, jolly good. Wikipedia policy WP:Before advises that before nominating an article for AfD the nominator should search for reliable sources, specifically: "The minimum search expected is a Google Books search and a Google News archive search; Google Scholar is suggested for academic subjects." In your nomination of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dick Haugland for deletion you "find nothing substantial about the guy" and claim, in particular, that the subject fails WP:PROF. However a search of Google scholar for this scientist shows a spectacular number of citations in the scientific literature, stunningly above average, which gives a clear pass of WP:Prof#C1. Inadequately researched nominations waste the time of other editors and make Wikipedia look ridiculous. More care in these matters is expected from administrators of Wikipedia than from ordinary roughneck editors like myself. Xxanthippe ( talk) 23:12, 23 July 2012 (UTC).

Since then, I have added a bunch of information to the article (and renamed it to the APA Division of Clinical Neuropsychology per an unopposed suggestion on the talk page). At this point, I personally would vote against a merger, since this division, one of the biggest 3 of the APA, is notable in its own right and the article has enough to substantiate that. She started as radio maint. and then switched to tech control. Was wondering what bases you've been stationed at. We were at Hickham when I was little, a transmitter site outside of Andrews (now defunct I believe) and a few of the Nothern California bases. She also went to Osan but I stayed in the states for her year abroad due to security concerns on her part (the year before the Olympics were in Seoul). Feel free to email reply through my profile if you aren't comfortable talking about it here (or to tell me you aren't comforatble answering at all, I would totally understand). Footnote * Not formatting error.. Actually I have deliberately not linked, because 1) you already know what are in these pages 2) more importantly, I want to highlight only that link where I want you to click!
;Additional question from Tito Dutta (Nominator)
- 14. Live issue: In some Indian (specially regional film articles) some people change the gross of the film unnecessarily (some of those are exceptional claim), but without source. The worst part it they change the amount of profit in every few days (sometimes few hours) from, say, 10 Crore to 20 Crore etc –which is weird almost impossible– always without source. In some film articles I removed unbelievable unsourced gross and added <--DON'T ADD WITHOUT SOURCE --> Very soon I find some people undoing my edits and adding again adding a unsourced (new) gross amount. Most probably they are fans of the films and want to show their likings here in Wikipedia by adding a unbelievable gross amount! Also note, this is not a problem of one editor. I have tried to talk to at least 10 different editors in last few months
- Example These are two live issues Example 1, Example 2.
- Your opinion/suggestion? I am frankly saying I am very tired after giving a bunch of editors suggestion/warning/notices again and again!
Hey TParis. I was looking at this and comparing it with this. and something doesn't add up. Does the tool count edit summaries which just link to the section?
Thanks.
This edit misses an obvious optimization. Undoubtedly, the end effect is the same as the optimal one as duplicate template parameters use the right-most instance. But this should be an easy bot fix and doing so will prevent editor confusion when they see the strange duplication. Thanks! — EncMstr ( talk) 18:06, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

I don't know if you (or indeed if Cyberpower, who I know is watching, or anyone else who might be watching) could point me in the right direction. I'm thinking about getting some statistics together regarding blocks on en.wp. WormTT( talk) 11:05, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

At WP:AIV), how many were successful and how many were unsuccessful, to see where I (if ever!) have gone wrong, so I can see how to improve. this.
I reverted its edits for this task for today, some of which have many consecutive edits over the last seven weeks. That leaves some articles with {{

A quick find-replace of "soxred93" to "tparis" should probably fix most of this page. Wingman4l7 ( talk) 02:01, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
Hi! First of all, I have adopted The Irish Warden and I would like to think you for protecting his page. Second of all, would you ind if I use the --v/r in my signature? Thanks, Electriccatfish2 ( talk) 23:38, 16 July 2012 (UTC).
Well two questions. What's happening to your edit counter tool? The server lag is getting worse by the day. Also, your page contributions tool seems to be gone. What happened to it? Thanks. Narutolovehinata5 t c csd new 11:21, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
could you have your bot add a category to template:cratstats? this will keep it out of Wikipedia:Database reports/Uncategorized templates. a possible category would be category:wikipedia bot-related templates. thank you. Frietjes ( talk) 18:07, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
Why is this disabled? Also, did you think of moving the tools to a stable tswiki:MMP in the end? Thanks, Nemo 19:23, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your speedies. I wasn't 100% sure how to tag these, and I see you deleted them as G6. The G8 criteria specifically excludes userpages, but in this specific case, I thought G8 best explained the reasons. I've been fixing broken redirects recently, and G8 seems to be the most common tag in that arena of endeavor. BusterD ( talk) 17:20, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
Hi TParis, I tagged the article in WT:Articles for creation/Areum for db-g6, and decided to let NPP review the one in Main space. I since notice that the better article in Main space was deleted. I have quickly removed the db-g6 tag from the article in AfC. Any idea how this happened? Should, can we restore the Main space article? Regards, :- ) Don 18:53, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I'm just here to ask for details on why the page for the Swedish 'INGRID' art collective was deleted. The primary points were listed in the deletion log, but if specifics on what would constitute a suitable page on the subject (which includes several major musical artists, and with proper references etc. should most likely be deemed noteable), I would hope I could create a better and more suitable page. However, I don't want to just make the same mistakes as the previous author and cause nuisance. Any pointers appreciated. AmbroseCadwell ( talk) 17:29, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
Right, jolly good. The only one I can see myself having difficulty is with is 3), as the line between a music 'blog' and a music 'website' is probably a debatable one- so I shall collect offline sources too, and then create (hopefully) an article that will more properly suffice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AmbroseCadwell ( talk • contribs) 21:09, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
I hate to bother you but I only know a few people who can help with this. A toolserver user has gone inactive and I hate to lose the tool's function. Will you look at this link and see if you can reactivate it? Thank you for considering this. 76Strat String da Broke da ( talk) 02:38, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
An editor has asked for a deletion review of Barack Obama on Twitter. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. LuciferWildCat ( talk) 22:09, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Howdy. You closed this AfD as a merge last year. Alas the outcome hasn't been great; a fair bit of information in the [ original article has been lost as it's not relevant to Real Madrid C.F., and the other clubs to which the award applies ( FIFA Clubs of the 20th Century - plural) have nothing to link. Can I ask (per Wikipedia:Deletion review) if you'd mind my undeleting until a tidier solution can be found ? Cheers - TB ( talk) 22:12, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

You closed the merger discussion (was actually an Afd) with a merge, probably since the article didn't have much back then. But I don't want to arbitrarily take out the tag. Do I reopen the merge discussion, open a new one, or just request you to take out the tag? Churn and change ( talk) 16:18, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
There's a question about your bot at Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard#Bot issue with template:cratstats?. Doesn't seem important enough to stop that task, but it might be worth a look when you have a chance. -- Floquenbeam ( talk) 00:03, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
I see that you "saved" Soxred93's edit counter over at Toolserver. I love that tool!! I use it for Wikinews all the time!! I wish I "spoke" SQL.........I do good to goof off with FreeBasic from time to time!! -- Bddmagic ( talk) 05:01, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
Hey, TParis. Just so you know, I've removed the IPBE flag you granted to User:Benlisquare a few months ago; the timer you placed on my IPBE tracking page went off, and on checking it looks like he's back home now. Hersfold ( t/ a/ c) 04:25, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

For some reason I follow your page (we must have talked about something in the past) and I only just now noticed your are a USAF E-5. My mom was as well when she got out back in the late 80s. Just nifty to run into someone who knows AF stuff. I know a ton of Army and Marine folks, and I was Navy myself briefly. But I never seem to meet AF peeps. CHeers! Actually someone suggested us to inform some WP:INDIA* admins. But, we have not done so fearing it'll be a WP:CANVAS*. You can see last few posts of this thread. I am interested to learn will it be an inappropriate canvassing if an admin is informed about the nomination (for admin's guidance etc)! -- Tito Dutta ✉ 13:47, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
They're not really edit summaries in my mind, as they're automatic when you press "edit" on a section. WormTT( talk) 15:24, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
