RioHondo, I hereby present to you this barnstar, for your positive contributions to Wikipedia, and in particular for your work on articles related to the Philippines. Well done! Mlm42 ( talk) 04:40, 30 March 2012 (UTC) |
Hi RioHondo! I noticed you've been creating a few new list articles. I don't know if you are aware of the following guidelines, but I thought I should point them out anyway: Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Stand-alone lists is Wikipedia's style guideline for lists. Of particular importance is they should have a lead section (ideally it would be quite a lot more than a single sentence). Secondly, keep in mind the "notability" guideline for creating new articles, and in particular Wikipedia:Notability#Stand-alone_lists, which says:
A list topic is considered notable if it has been discussed as a group or set by independent reliable sources, per the above guidelines; notable list topics are appropriate for a stand-alone list.
I should warn you that if your lists don't satisfy that guideline, then they are at risk of being deleted (and it would be a shame to lose your work). Anyway, happy editing! :-) Mlm42 ( talk) 00:33, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

Dear RioHondo,
Greetings!
As a Filipino Wikipedian, I hope you are aware of the passage of Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino III on September 14, 2012. Currently, there is a discussion on the Tambayan, the noticeboard for Philippines-related topics, about a proposed blackout of the English Wikipedia in the Philippines in order to protest the passage of RA 10175, similar to the blackout against SOPA and PIPA held earlier this year. I feel that your input on the subject will definitely help in the discussion.
Please feel free to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines#The Cybercrime Prevention Act, and I hope your input will help the Filipino Wikipedia community determine which is the best course of action against this law. Similarly, we hope to get as much input from as many Wikipedians as possible.
Thank you and maraming salamat po!
Kind regards,

Hello RioHondo, I'm contacting you because we need some Tagalog translators to help with the deployment of the new VisualEditor on tl.wikipedia. There are help pages, user guides, and description pages that need translating, as well as the interface itself. The translating work is going on over on MediaWiki: Translation Central. I also need help with a personal message for the Tagalog Wikipedians. If you are able to help in any way, either reply here, or head over to TranslationCentral. Thanks for your time, PEarley (WMF) ( talk) 18:32, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

RioHondo,
Your recently created article on McKinley Road deserves some praise, in my opinion. It is very well written, informative and perfect structure.
However, it requires more references so unreferenced information is not removed. Please spend some time retrieving references and adding in-line citations to the article.

~~The fact that Legazpi City was named after the Gov. General has nothing to do with its nickname as the Queen City of Southern Luzon. The word Legazpi in the Governor General's name is not really a part of his name but rather it means that he came from a city in Spain ( /info/en/?search=Legazpi,_Spain). The Governor General's true name is Miguel Lopez and the word de Legazpi was included because it means "from Legazpi." Moreover, there are websites referring to Legazpi as the Queen City of Southern Luzon such as:

@ RioHondo:, can you help me copyedit the article on Loboc Church? An IP user is insisting his edits which started here. For example, instead of Saint Peter the Apostle Parish Church, it should be Saint Peter the Apostle parish church. I asked help from seav to copyedit it, and he manually reverted the edits, especially the capitalization issues, the IP user is pointing out. It was granted a semi-protected block (after my request). However, IP user has been posting messages on the talk page of the admin who granted the semi-protection, giving me 3RR (according to him), and posting an edit warring notice (which was stale according to the admin). User:RioHondo, Let's toast for Judge Florentino Floro's comprehensive contributions of encyclopedic photographs from the Philippines -- Happy New Year; after more than 120,000 photos uploaded by herein User:Ramon FVelasquez, via Donation Inter Vivos or gratuitous gift of 120,000 photos owned by Judge Floro, the other 119,000 as of today, had been uploaded by another User:Judgefloro for Judge Floro, Jr., and both total of 239,000 as of today, had a condition of sole upload in Commons since Wikipedia had no Upload Wizzard and Judge Floro did bar both Users from uploading these photos in any internet site due to his philosophy which Commons shares - of privacy, security protection of the editors, users, free and no advertisement for the education and wisdom of Filipinos, tersely - for Philippine Tourism purpose, for it is so beautiful; the 239,000 photos of Judge Floro has no duplicate and will never be duplicated worldwide, for it is not mere medium or macro-photography of Town, Provinces, not skylines, not just this or that, but microscopic photos of Barangays, the very essence of the Philippines, never ever photographed in the internet; on behalf of Judge Floro, please put User:Judgefloro and User:Ramon FVelasquez on your watch-list, for Judge Floro needs your kindness and help for these 2 editors who, for free and for no gain, but were indebted morally from Judge Floro, fulfilled the Judge's mandate of painfully and religiously uploading these 239,000 photos; One last point: I message you [1] for gratitude on the barnstar of kindness and may I ask you to consult other Commons and Wikipedia editors and administrators, if Judge Florentino Floro can appoint another editor by creating a Commons Account, to Upload Judge Floro's succeeding or to be taken pictures starting this week or month, because User:Judgefloro asked Judge Floro to be on Wiki-break since this user already almost uploaded 120,000 as User:Ramon FVelasquez had and did have now a long Wiki-Break; Judge Floro has not yet responded to User:Judgefloro to take a Wikibreak unless a kind and knowledgeable Commons editor he could trust take the uploading in the place of these 2 users editors of Donated photos of Judge Floro; hoping for your kind reply and please post it in User:Judgefloro or here; Sincerely, for these 2 Users and for Judge Florentino Floro, Happy 3 Kings-- 112.210.139.242 ( talk) 03:07, 1 January 2015 (UTC) |

Good day RioHondo. I'm concerned about the reversion you made in my edits, as I am still trying to expand these articles. A common mistake is that these places (Santa Mesa, Santa Ana, Tondo, etc.) are referred as "districts" of Manila. These places are not "districts", they are towns/parishes and is correctly referred to as "places". The "districts" of Manila refers to its congressional district. We might continue our discussion on the Manila talk page.

I need not to expound further. Although you may accept it or not, it took you time to find other references but still then lacking some info to complete and cite through context [2]. But I no longer need to blank it out or else I will be guilty for censorship.
As for Marami's OR [3] , there's no danger about it. But the problem is the inaccuracy of your sources which I was confident to expect it coming. If you trace the 405MASL information, it came from one single source and was copied over and over again by various secondary sources. We've been there and we have debunked the erroneous elevation. All you need now is to find secondary sources for it to make it reliable. Or you may need to bite PSTS soon as GeoNET does not have an info about it as well.
As for citing NHCP on Imus [4]. The new Battle of Alapan isn't in NHCP yet (if I'm not mistaken) Even the photo for that specific marker on the first Battle of Alapan marker is even incorrect and I have to replace it. I am however confident you'll find other sources too in this case. But for all the effort is worth, I hope you are doing it for Wikipedia's sake. Happy editing, kababayan! Don't know how to code it but how can we take that list (looks much better btw) and have them columned right to left? It would condense the page but still present all the information. Hello,
RioHondo,
I'm in the process of tagging empty categories and some of them are your creations. Please only create categories if they will be used to categorize existing articles and not articles that you anticipate might exist at some point in the future.
Now, they are taking up editors' time, first one editor tagging them for deletion and then, in a few days, an admin must delete them. It's best to only create categories that can apply to articles at the time of creation. Thank you!

Hi, I'd like to maintain all mention of the Kinaray-a language as Kinaray-a due to its wider usage compared to Karay-a in recent discourse and seminal studies focused on the language. Kinaray-a is in fact the primary name used by Ethnologue and Glottolog where the naming on widespread information consumption was drawn from Diaz' (1962) pronominal system analysis and Zorc's (1977) early classification of Visayan languages (among the very first studies on the language). However, I am not suggesting the removal of all mention of Karay-a on relevant articles. Rather, they can be indicated alongside Kinaray-a while the latter should be the more prominent naming. Karay-a is also more conveniently used to refer to the people, instead. I hope you'd consider these points. -- Pansitkanton ( talk) 16:08, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
I just noticed that Maharlika Highway does not actually follow some parts of the Pan-Philippine Highway's current route, such as Maharlika Highway following a different route, including part of MacArthur Highway, Rizal Avenue, MacArthur Bridge, part of Padre Burgos Avenue, Taft Avenue, Quirino Avenue, Diego Cera Avenue, most of Alabang-Zapote Road/Real Street, and Manila South Road/National Road/National Highway (sometimes signed as Maharlika Highway/Daang Maharlika), and "Maharlika Highway" must be split from that article. So, I will propose splitting Pan-Philippine Highway into a separate article. I am familiar about Maharlika Highway running as a separate route from the Pan-Philippine Highway/AH26, as they not always follow each other through Metro Manila, such as the case of Maharlika Highway following National Road/Manila South Road (MSR) south of Metro Manila. -- TagaSanPedroAko ( talk) 14:08, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
Hello, you seem to be involved with Filipino articles. Could you please consider creating a (stub) article for Negros (province), just as I did for Agusan (province) and Surigao (province). It would stop people from trying to redirect the red links in Template:Philippines former provinces and cities. I tried trying to find some info on this province in the Provinces of the Philippines article, but I can't find anything which would indicate that 'Negros' existed as a province. Matagal na kitang kilala RioHondo since 2011 (the year when I was a newbie to English Wikipedia), at alam kong hindi ganyan ang kilos mo, in fact ayos pa nga yang ginagawa mo sa kanya eh, para matauhan naman kahit minsan. Hi, RioHondo. May I request for some more images of several (if not all) notable roads in Mtro Manila? I saw in the edit source of Juan Ruiz Street, and saw this in its infobox "|image=<exclamation point--Juan Ruiz Street.jpg-->" p I have some doubts over some images in Commons. Thanks :-) JWilz12345 ( talk) 15:36, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
Ah, ok. I now understand. Besides, I now use several Commons imgs of PHL roads for enwiki / tlwiki articles of PHL roads, alongside with your imgs. Its just that some of their filenames are long that made me a bit confused. I am still a newbie, I admit, and I admire you very much for your expertise on PHL roads. By the way, thanks for your reply! :) JWilz12345 ( talk) 10:00, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
It looks like adding a "Landmarks" section makes articles of many Philippine road articles look like a traveller's guide, and I laid out two possible ways of handling landmarks without making it look like a guide (which violates WP:NOTGUIDE), such as:
Many articles of roads and streets (aside from highways) in Metro Manila have "Landmarks" sections that hold be cleaned up using either method mentioned above. A few examples of Metro Manila road and street articles with a "Landmarks" section are Gil Puyat Avenue, Lawton Avenue, Quirino Avenue, Daang Hari Road, Makati Avenue, and Taft Avenue.
Also, regarding Philippine road junction lists, many of the streets in Manila, especially the major ones, lack road junction lists, and if one exists, seems to be not compliant with MOS:RJL. In the past, I added MOS:RJL-compliant lists on some Philippine road and street articles (like on Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway, Dr. A. Santos Avenue, and Arnaiz Avenue) and standardized road junction lists on some articles (like on South Luzon Expressway, Daang Hari Road, and Manila-Cavite Expressway.) If you can make other Philippine road and street junction list MOS:RJL-compliant, you may do it, along with me.
And also, do not forget the route numbers being slowly added to many national roads in the Philippines, aside from segments of AH26 where they are already implemented since 2014. Some roads and streets in Metro Manila have correspending road numbers, assigned by the Department of Public Works and Highways, like the Alabang-Zapote Road which is numbered 411, and if any route number sign can be found on the named road , highway, or street mentioned, it can be added, along with a source from DPWH. TagaSanPedroAko ( talk) 02:16, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
I have concerns on the highway types at Highways in the Philippines, especially on "Provincial highways". Provincial highways are defined as provincially-maintained roads in the provinces according to Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and analyzing them, most of the highways listed are actually national highways on the DPWH designation. Many roads like MacArthur Highway, Manila East Road, Aguinaldo Highway, and others would be called national highways in local usage, aside from the DPWH definition. And with this concern, the article needs to have the "ProvinciaI highways" section moved to "National highways". TagaSanPedroAko ( talk) 08:51, 24 January 2017 (UTC)

Hi RioHondo. May I ask for your clarification? I'm very confused about the name of a street in Pandacan. Some sources say Padre Jacinto Zamora Street, others Tomas Claudio Street, and still others call it Paco-Santa Mesa Road. According to the article Quirino Avenue, "By the late 1920s, under the United States' Insular Government, the Paco-Santa Mesa Road was constructed which was later renamed Tomás Claudio Street…", but some maps still use the name Paco-Santa Mesa Road. The PocketEarth iOS app uses the name Padre Jacinto Zamora Street. AccuMap's CityAtlas (2006 edition) uses both Tomás Claudio Street and Paco-Santa Mesa Road, the former for the lower half of the road and the latter for the upper half of the road. I need your clarification on this. And also, is this road passes WP's criteria (esp. notability standards)? I'm planning to create a draft of this in the future. Thanks! :).

~~The fact that Legazpi City was named after the Gov. General has nothing to do with its nickname as the Queen City of Southern Luzon. The word Legazpi in the Governor General's name is not really a part of his name but rather it means that he came from a city in Spain ( /info/en/?search=Legazpi,_Spain). The Governor General's true name is Miguel Lopez and the word de Legazpi was included because it means "from Legazpi." Moreover, there are websites referring to Legazpi as the Queen City of Southern Luzon such as:

Would be of Wiki-importance to get the date of suspension of the Naga - Sipocot services, if so. Regards, Abante86 ( talk) 21:32, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
RioHondo, as you were referring to me as Jerome, you have been starting the thing known as name and shame. This was your choice and your responsibility. Please come up with evidence, or take it back. This was essentially an attempt to get me blocked indefinitely. Not something nice, huh? So, break the silence I would suggest... and apologies are still welcome... Hello,
RioHondo,
I'm in the process of tagging empty categories and some of them are your creations.

Until I took a look at the "View history" section of the article entitled "Pasig", I did not know that there are barangays named Pasig in the following locations aside from Candaba, Pampanga.
Thank you for giving such information.

Hi,
I just noticed that Maharlika Highway does not actually follow some parts of the Pan-Philippine Highway's current route, such as Maharlika Highway following a different route, including part of MacArthur Highway, Rizal Avenue, MacArthur Bridge, part of Padre Burgos Avenue, Taft Avenue, Quirino Avenue, Diego Cera Avenue, most of Alabang-Zapote Road/Real Street, and Manila South Road/National Road/National Highway (sometimes signed as Maharlika Highway/Daang Maharlika), and "Maharlika Highway" must be split from that article.
So hopefully you have some information which could get an article started. Thanks, -- Midas02 ( talk) 15:08, 8 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi RioHondo, I noticed the way Appable and Kazaro attitudes are most likely the same. But I don't want to judge a book by its cover first. Maybe there is a possible sockpuppeting going on in these 2 user accounts. It seems that Appable still supporting Kazaro's edits without any notice, and he/she told me that I must not bite the newcomers though Kazaro really did a bad thing. Can you please under investigate this user? I'm really creeping out on those 2 already, as they having a tag team or something. Hamham31 Heke! KushKush! 08:09, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi RioHondo, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled.

Thanks! :).
