Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.
As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.
If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.
You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

Hello Arun! This is a request for important cartographic activity. File:India_climatic_zone_map_en.svg, although is sourced to a Stanford university page, the source in that page (of Stanford university) cites a fishy website ( [1]) as its source. I also have a strong preference for this logo, nice work! However please consider (manually?) fixing the kerning, that d looks terribly lonely with so much space before the "a". I also agree with the previous comments on the poll that the prefix "wiki" should be included and using caps would make the logo look more consistent with all other Wikimedia projects. -- DarTar ( talk) 04:53, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi there, You don't really know me, but I've long admired your work on both the India page and other India-related pages. I am wondering if you could help us out with improving your map File:Indian Railways Network Connectivity Map with cities and population density.png. Even though it is a railway connectivity map, it is more importantly (in the demographics page) a heat map of the population, which identifies urban conglomerations (and which are named).
1. Is is possible to increase the font size for the city names?
2. Could you add a color bar on the side with density numbers?
3. Is it possible to get rid of the railway network entirely or to de-emphasize it graphically?
4. There is a Wikipedia page List of most populous cities in India. Is there a way to make the cities in your map clickable, so that by clicking on any city a Wikipedia reader could view the information about its population and population growth found in the list page?
Look forward to your reply! Fowler&fowler «Talk» 01:27, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

Hello Arun, I would like to have a map of the Latin rite provinces and dioceses of the Catholic Church in India. I'm looking for something along the lines of the US map below. There are 23 Latin rite provinces in India, which are further divided into dioceses. Each diocese is made up of a few civil districts.
The list of districts that make up each diocese is in the article Territories of Roman Catholic dioceses in India, and also available on the following sites/pages:
On the UCAN site, most of the dioceses have a map of India showing the outline of the diocese, which could be helpful.
The map could be used on several pages, like:

Hey Arun,
I'm creating a page for my uncle, who used to be a really popular singer and actor in Mumbai in the 1970s. Here it is - /info/en/?search=User:Susheel_c/Madhukar_C._Dhas
I have asked for feedback, and it looks like people think that it needs more substantiation regarding the fact that he himself is an important musician. Since most of the newspaper articles from the 70s are not digitised, I'm asking him to share some of the clippings that he has on his website http://bigdooker.com/press.html from the 70s, but I don't know what the implications are for copyright, etc, and whether clippings will even be accepted as legit.
Would appreciate your guidance. Cheers!

Also, could you update you Somali Piracy map to include 2011 data? The map is excellent and I loved studying it. Thank you. 78.92.170.85 ( talk) 07:30, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
Hi PlaneMad I stumbled upon your comments when I was searching for information on Chennai Bus Routes. You wrote around 2 years ago about how you were working on this Map. How did it go? Is it over? Cuz right now I am in a mess and Im sure your project will help me from getting lost in Chennai. Do reply. Looking forward to see your work.

Thank you so much Arun :) I would be happy if you could also do a map of sorts on the share auto routes too. I don't find much info about them in the net. :( — Preceding unsigned comment added by Suzanne Vandana ( talk • contribs) 09:31, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

The map actually does not tally with Koppen world map. Will it be possible for you to make a climate zone map of India based on the world Koppen map or Asia map? I talked regarding this with creator of India climate zone map Saravask ( talk · contribs) who admits the need for change.-- Dwaipayan ( talk) 05:58, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
Hi!
I request u to change the name of the district in the CMA( Chennai Metropolitan Area ) article map. It is named as Thiruvalluvar. It is actually Thiruvallur.

Hi, I really like the cardiovascular infographic you made on rural vs. urban dwellers in India. Just a quick suggestion for an edit, I think you meant mutation and not mutilation in the blurb at the bottom. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Meistromaster ( talk • contribs) 00:01, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
Hello Planemad, so long time no see. I got interviewed by the Wikipedia Signpost about the map project, also, I made a short history of the project and conventions, thus citing your former input. If you are interested, you can read more there:

Hi! First of all, I'd like to thank you for the drawing "Bangalore Outbound Trains Frequency Chart". It's beautiful and inspiring and great to see on Wikipedia.
The slight problem I discovered with it is that it has both hours 24 and 00 (and the horizontal space for an hour between them). I suppose 00 should follow 23. Thanks! – Daniel Mahu ( talk| contribs) · 08:19, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

On 8 September 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article List of Chennai Corporation wards, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the Corporation of Madras was established in 1688, and is the oldest municipal body in India? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/List of Chennai Corporation wards. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page ( here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Hi Arun, thanks for your reply. I don't mind trying to learn Inkscape and doing it myself, although I too cannot take it up immediately, because I am busy with some other stuff for around a month or so. Do you think it is better if we wait till the new basemap you are working on is ready? Approximately when will the new basemap be available? I also have another handicap: I don't know where each district is on the map of India. Thanks a ton! The Discoverer ( talk) 04:41, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
Hi Guruji :), I made the map myself using Inkscape. What do you think?

Yes.. it was easier than I thought. I agree that I didn't really 'paint a pretty picture' but I took the easiest way by using just one tool: the dropper. The way you described it would have looked awesome, but atleast for now that's out of my league. Maybe sometime in the future. The Discoverer ( talk) 13:25, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi Planemad,
first of all I would like to thank you for those great maps! Like them a lot! however I get into a problem when trying to use your SVG file as a template. Can't open a single one SVG file you created under the Atlas of India category (like this one http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:India_flood_zone_map.svg ). Could you advice what software you used to edit those files? I really want to make a map of The 16 Mahajanapadas of my own and your template is my best choice. Thank you very much in advance!

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Dharamshala International Film Festival, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Umesh Kulkarni ( check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hey Arun,
I'm creating a page for my uncle, who used to be a really popular singer and actor in Mumbai in the 1970s.
Cheers!
