Hi Magnus. Sorry for not using bitbucket, but I don't know how to use it. This is to report that when I try to use your CommonsHelper tool, I always get this message: "Cannot construct database name for meta.wikimedia - aborting." or other error messages. I tried with m:File:Prisma.gif. I hope that you can have a look at this. Greetings, MarcoAurelio ( talk) 14:03, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
Namaste, Mag. Is it possible to add ability to automagically remove {{ Copy to Commons}} template from a page after image/file is transferred from Wikipedia (or other project site)? Rationale is that the tool already adds {{ Now Commons}} but does not remove the other. -- dsprc [talk] 21:37, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi Magnus! Good health!
(I saw your messages in December about "visit to hospital" - I understand that's not "funny time"; I was "hospital programmer" at 1989-2013)
I have one "stupid" (maybe) question about using of MissingTopics tool.
I write topics about field hockey in Russian Wikipedia - and your tool is excellent help work for looking for "urgent ToDo", because this theme (field hockey) looks like "desert" in Ru-wiki (huge of "red links" to unexisting topics). But... strange thing I see (from middle of December 2014 as I mean):
I don't understand what's wrong in second example :(( Any "limits" ("number of red links in list" for example)? Any "black list for categories" (from author or anyone)? Something else?
Thanks. -- Alexey Gustow (Ekaterinburg, Russia) Алексей Густов ( talk) 16:29, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I am French so please be tolerant with my writings. I wanted to use "Missing topics" as mentioned by others on fr:Wikipédia:Questions techniques/semaine 6 2015#Articles à créer, in order to count how much red links there is in the articles of a project. What I want to know is if it is possible not to consider the red links in the templates inside the articles. Theoritically, it would work by choosing "Filter out links from templates used in category pages", but in fact it doesn't seem to work. Can you please enlighten me ? Hello Magnus, You're receiving this update because you asked to be informed about the Wikipedia Science Conference taking place in London on 2nd and 3rd of September. Thanks for your interest.
The call for proposals is now public and session proposals are coming in. The two keynotes, and some other invited speakers, have graciously accepted. In mid-May we will bring together a programme, a publicity poster, and an online booking form. Then we'll begin the main publicity and will need your help getting the word out.
Please put in a session proposal if you've been thinking of doing so: the deadline is the 8th May. This is far from the only way to be involved. The conference will need session moderators, a programme review group, and other volunteers: if there is a specific role you are interested in, or if you have any other questions, please email me at m.l.poulterbristol.ac.uk.
There will be a large "unconference" session in the programme and - fingers crossed - a "hackathon" event two days later on the Saturday, so even if you do not have a proposal accepted, you will have a chance to shape the conference activities.
Please pass on the word to any colleagues who might want to put in a proposal or help the conference in any way. Cheers,
PS. Magnus, I'm particularly keen to see what you want to contribute. You probably know that I've invited Daniel M. and, via Darren L., I've extended a speaking invitation to "the Sanger Institute gang" so consider yourself among the invited speakers. Whether you want to do a combined presentation with colleagues or a presentation on your own is up to you.

Hi, just wanted to inform you that the wonderful and very useful Missing topics tool is not working for Ukrainian Wikipedia. It freezes and stays frozen displaying a message "Note: This may take several minutes, especially for queries with 5000 articles and more. Please be patient and do *not* hit reload!..." And stays like that for hours. Which is a shame. I was wondering if it's possible to perhaps fix it in one of your spare minutes? =)

Hi Magnus, do you still support Geograph2Commons? You don't have a section about it on BitBucket. It was semi-working yesterday - it grabbed the info but never uploaded (just said "uploading..."), but it displayed the info which was helpful for copy/paste to Commons. Now it doesn't grab the info at all. I just discovered Geograph and I'm hoping you still work on it - it's a great tool! Thank you so much! —Мандичка YO 😜 15:08, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
Hello, Magnus Manske,
The Editing team is asking for your help with VisualEditor. I am contacting you because you were one of the very first testers of VisualEditor, back in 2012 or early 2013. Please tell them what they need to change to make VisualEditor work better for you. The team has a list of top-priority problems, but they also want to hear about small problems. These problems may make editing less fun, take too much of your time, or be as annoying as a paper cut. The Editing team wants to hear about and try to fix these small things, too.

I have previously easily used this tool to move an image from Wikipedia to Commons. The last few times over a series of recent weeks, I tried on various files with Tools using OAuth Uploader, the OAuth Uploaders tells me I've authorized it. But when I do a "refresh" on the page where I'm doing the move, it goes through the motions and then kicks up the message:
If while still logged in on Uploader, I go back to the original file to try again, in this case File:New York Dramatic Mirror June1910.jpg, it will go through the motions and still kick up the above error message. The image never gets uploaded at Commons. Since it worked before, why is it not now? — Maile ( talk) 19:46, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
Hello. " Suggest articles from interwikis" by Joanjoc was a great tool, but it has been down (always Can't connect to local MySQL server) for more than a month, and seems nobody would fix it. Your tool " Not in the other language" could be the alternative. However, the disadvantage is that the items generated from your tool is sorted in alphabetical order, but not in the order of the number of languages. If there is an option to do this, your tool can totally replace Joanjoc's one. Thank you. -- Ktchankt ( talk) 02:07, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

Hello Magnus,
Right now I am at the Berlin Wikimedia Conference. We had a very interesting and indeed enriching session about Wikidata recently. I tried to contribute to this project for some time and when I do have some time I always do, but I've been wondering about something else - mass editing.
In essence - I am looking for a translatewiki/commonist-like input to Wikidata, so I can edit more quickly and more efficiently.
Any editathon that would be organized back in Prague using such a tool might have a great result (me and my friend made a translatewiki session in January this year, resulting in cca 1800+ translations per couple of hours). I would like to repeat that - I was told to try https://tools.wmflabs.org/autolist/ but so far this looks more like a tool that gives you output but does not allow input :-( I am wondering what should I do or how can I simply add new statements - like in translatewiki. Do you know about some other tool, do you know some pattern that I can use for the command window or something else? It would be really helpful for me and for Wikidata as well, as the edits might go not in ones or tens, but in tens or hundreds. And that's worth it! -- Aktron ( t| c) 13:16, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Magnus.
I have a question about the TreeViews tool. I am attempting to run a query, http://tools.wmflabs.org/glamtools/treeviews/?q={%22rows%22%3A[{%22title%22%3A%22WikiProject%20Seattle%20articles%22%2C%22talk%22%3Atrue}]} (not easy to display in WikiMarkup, BTW). Although there are several thousand pages under WikiProject Seattle, I only seem to be able to get about 1136 pages. I am wondering if this is an undocumented feature that throttles the # of results due to performance constraints, or a defect. I figure that if it is the latter, I should open a bug report in Phabricator, but I wanted to check with you to rule out the former so that I am not wasting anybody's time with this.
Hi! Sorry for posting it here, not on Github. About missingtopics. I have some more ideas about development (what could/should/may be added), but the first (and probably most important) thing is - maybe you could add an option to scan all Wikipedia? I mean: the value is "really" unknown, it is not because I didn't find them, the sources say they don't know exactly where were some dolmens, which is destroyed.I think these features may be useful in many lists, mightn't they? -- El Caro ( talk) 08:15, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi Magnus! I've been really enjoying your "Related properties" tool. But I was wondering,
(1) Would it be possible to differently colour-code properties that appear as qualifiers and properties that appear on references from properties that appear as main properties for the item? This would make the lists much quicker to interpret at a glance.
(2) Would it be possible to make an analogous tool, to give a list of the most common values for a particular property for items in a particular set?
-- eg I've run some queries like this in SPARQL for paintings d:Wikidata_talk:WikiProject_sum_of_all_paintings#Some_project_top-lists here; but it would be really cool to have this as a generalised user-friendly tool in the same way as what you've created with "Related properties"; and very cool if it could run on WDQ rather than SPARQL -- the current SPARQL implementation seems to really choke on some path queries, that WDQ takes in its stride.
The icing on the cake would then be to link the two tools together, so that in a few clicks one could explore a chain like:
Most common properties for paintings
(One other thing that would be nice would be one more background colour (or set of background colours), to distinguish properties that already explicitly occur in the search string -- ie for which there is already a top-level CLAIM[$prop:\d+]
in the string -- this would make it easy to see what properties had already been isolated).
I think this would be an amazing way to be able to drill down and gain an understanding of the full richness the database, not just for paintings (which can already sort of be done with Crotos), but for anything one could imagine. Jheald ( talk) 13:07, 18 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi Magnus,
I see that you have done some work indexing BBC Your paintings, and have worked on the Wikidata side of the collection. Here at The National Library of Wales we are interested in getting the images that we contributed to the project over to Wiki Commons. Do you know of a clever and easy way of doing this? I have only very limited tech support here and getting a metadata file prepared in house for a Glam toolset upload before my residency ends in January is unlikely.

Hi Magnus, I see you are listed as a maintainer for Erwin85's tools at Labs.

Hi, I am French so please be tolerant with my writings. I wanted to use "Missing topics" as mentioned by others on fr:Wikipédia:Questions techniques/semaine 6 2015#Articles à créer, in order to count how much red links there is in the articles of a project. What I want to know is if it is possible not to consider the red links in the templates inside the articles.

Please be patient and do *not* hit reload!..." Hello, Magnus Manske,
The Editing team is asking for your help with VisualEditor.

Hello. " Suggest articles from interwikis" by Joanjoc was a great tool, but it has been down (always Can't connect to local MySQL server) for more than a month, and seems nobody would fix it. Your tool " Not in the other language" could be the alternative.

Hi! Sorry for posting it here, not on Github. About missingtopics. I have some more ideas about development (what could/should/may be added), but the first (and probably most important) thing is - maybe you could add an option to scan all Wikipedia? {{Coord|<|s|display=inline}}
into the list. I wish it wrote "unknown value" (or "valeur inconnue" in French if the page is on French WP, but "unknown value" is good enough). I mean: the value is "really" unknown, it is not because I didn't find them, the sources say they don't know exactly where were some dolmens, which is destroyed.I think these features may be useful in many lists, mightn't they? -- El Caro ( talk) 08:15, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

Hey Magnus! Could you make the tool work for Portuguese too? E.g.: https://tools.wmflabs.org/listeria/index.php?action=update&lang=pt&page=Usu%C3%A1rio%28a%29:He7d3r/Testes Helder 16:18, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
Hi Magnus; thanks for creating Duplicity, which has made one aspect of maintenance on cywiki so much easier. The cywiki list has a lot of item-less articles on plants and animals, by their Latin names. Is there a way of matching articles up quickly with Wikidata items that have labels or aliases identical to the article titles? Cheers, Ham II ( talk) 16:11, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
Catscan gibt mir nach sehr langer Wartezeit (>100s) einen 502-Fehler (Bad Gateway), der sich im Body als 404 ausgibt, und teilweise nach ca. 600s einen 504 (Gateway Timeout). --nennt michruhig ip ( Diskussion) 14:58, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Magnus! Thanks for the great tool.
I have dropped number to zero at lvwiki and then found that Duplicity doesn't show ~100 unconnected articles from the main namespace. You can see this list at the top of lv:Dalībnieks:Voll/6 page. Could you imagine, please, why it happens? Thank you. -- Voll ( talk) 12:35, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
Hi, I just tried to use your Linked items tool ( https://tools.wmflabs.org/wikidata-todo/linked_items.php). It's a nice tool, but I would like to get the results without alphabetical sorting. -- Stryn ( talk) 16:24, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
Jheald ( talk) 13:07, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
in this change your bot remove a file from <gallery> with out remove the description. If it a local bug in he-wikipedia and you need more data i will try to provide it. Yona B. ( discussion) 19:08, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
Hello Magnus,
On the page baglama2, is it possible to replace BAnQ-Projet Poirier by Files uploaded by Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec?
This new cat is including all GLAM projects with BAnQ, not only Poirier project...
Hope this is not too complicated for you.
Thanks in advance. Best regards.

Hi, I just noticed that CommonsDelinker Bot stopped processing on the 17 October 2015. Cheers KylieTastic ( talk) 19:24, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
Hi Magnus! MissingTopics shows No webservice. Solve please. Very useful thing! Thanks! -- Alexey Gustow Алексей Густов ( talk) 22:48, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
Hi, I just tried to copy the templates for Wikidata Lists over to the lower german WP (nds). Works just fine for manual updates. Anything else that's needed to let the bot come back automatically, or will that also just happen? Thanks again for the great work! -- Aeroid ( talk) 12:21, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi Magnus,
I see that you have done some work indexing BBC Your paintings, and have worked on the Wikidata side of the collection.

Something isn't working right (I extensively use the relatedchanges tool), I'm getting a general 404 error, and the status page shows CPU at 593h19m which seems absurdly high. Would you mind taking a look? — Huntster ( t @ c) 08:33, 14 November 2015 (UTC)

Hello Magnus Manske- I have nominated the 1933 $20 double eagle images (initially uploaded by your bot) for a delist and replace at FPC. The specific page can be found at 1933 $20 Saint-Gaudens double eagle. Thanks. Godot13 ( talk) 20:40, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
Would it be possible for it to to be tweaked so that it can pick up a "suggested" name from the Copy to Commons templates?
I've put a 'newname' paramater in a sandbox version of the template. Sfan00 IMG ( talk) 10:39, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
Magnus, I did not find page for creator_from_wikidata on BitBucket, so I will write here. It is a great tool and I am eager to use it more, however one thing I noticed is that it does not set required "Homecat" parameter which should come from d:Property:P373. Also "Description" field should be skipped when nationality and occupation is provided. Thanks for the tool -- Jarekt ( talk) 14:37, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
