OK; people does anyone knows how to get rid of a hacker? No, I am not imagining things. Programs are getting installed without I ever installed them, Windows is installing strange features and changes, all by itself, things move around, tabs are closed without me doing that. Hope i will be able to finish this message without anyone closing the tab. -- Hafspajen ( talk) 12:58, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

Thanks everybody for ideas. And Dear Hacker.
Scuse me but what exactly are you looking for?
Do you really think that I keep anything on those computers you are targeting, worth making those many consistent efforts for, now do you?
Hafs, if you're still having problems like you described earlier, I'd highly recommend saving any important files from your computer onto a flash drive and totally reinstalling your operating system. You really don't want somebody to have total access on your machine like that. Zeng8r ( talk) 00:10, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

Sounds like perhaps somebody broke in through Windows Remote Desktop. It's supposed to let a technician fix your computer from afar, but if hackers tricked you into letting them in through that door, they could take full control over your computer as you describe and install any type of awful spyware / malware / viruses they wanted to. You really need to either reinstall Windows or just buy a new computer, imo. Zeng8r ( talk) 16:31, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Now I'm getting sucked into researching it! ;-) I am going to the Smithsonian next week and, time permitting, will try to see the painting at Hillwood Estate (and ask if they have additional information). I'm finding all sorts of articles from the early 1900s (beyond what I've added to the refs already) and need to figure out how to organize the material. Here's a fun "fact" (but I want to find a second source to confirm it)- the American collector who bought the painting from the artist outbid the Tsar of Russia...-- Godot13 ( talk) 06:46, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

Time for you to stop being lazy, and decorate this page:
Who should be running this year? Who should be re-elected this year? What are the main criteria? And what sort of picture best tells the story of each potential candidate? Inquiring minds want to know.
Here are some people that ran last time, which is an example of a seriuz voterguide format, no pictures whatsoever.
And the final results:
I will work on gathering some data, and thinking up some potential candidates, as well.

I was pinged in your comments to Phil's page but I think it is unwise for me to respond there since she has asked me not to post on her talk page.
As you can see
here and
here, in November I asked Phil not to take potshots at me. I haven't been looking at her contributions, we just run into each other on user talk pages and when we do, she often makes a snide remark. As I said in my final comment to her, "I know I can't change your mind about me but I just ask that when you feel that impulse to say something negative about me, please resist it. And, of course, I will do likewise. Let's focus on improving Wikipedia. I appreciate the contributions of all editors, even ones that seemingly can't stand me."
To that, she responded by deleting my post with the edit summary, "None of these are insults nor uncivil/disrespectful unlike your comments. Stop your pathetic blatant personal attacks against me, grow up & learn some integrity."
That was where things were left until Sunday.
Regardless of her feelings about me, I have no ill will towards Phil and tried to disarm her insults with humor but that backfired. All I want is to edit without the insults. That's it. We all contribute to Wikipedia in different ways. And I don't think rehashing issues surrounding my painful RfA does anyone any good. Like others have said, enough drama, let's all move on and get back to work! But I appreciate your effort at trying to broker a peace arrangement.

Hi Hafs-
I uploaded the image you requested from the Google Art Project, but am now puzzled. The links you left on my page do indeed contain a painting by the same artist, with the same title and year, but it is not the same image. Wanting to be certain before replacing the existing image (poor quality) with a different image (higher quality) of the same name, artist, etc., I did a google search on the painting title and on the artist. Results did not once show the new upload, while the existing file was there. I'm not sure how to proceed, or what this means. I hope that you (or any of your talk page followers) could perhaps offer some advice. Thanks in advance.-- Godot13 ( talk) 05:18, 10 December 2015 (UTC)

On 10 January 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article A Meat Stall with the Holy Family Giving Alms, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in the painting A Meat Stall with the Holy Family Giving Alms (pictured), a handwritten sign in Flemish is posted on a wood placard that scholars have stated represented a warning to society at that time? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/A Meat Stall with the Holy Family Giving Alms. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page ( here's how, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Regarding the post from North America above: I asked Hafs about the sign, and he sent the explanation at left:
(The unit of area probably should be translated as rood, not rod.)
I don't see how this could be interpreted as "a warning to society at that time." Sca ( talk)

Isn't that madness hacking someone's computer? Yes it is. Broking into ones private computer, planning evil deeds day after day ... Is this the way Wikipedia was meant to work? If I don't like your ideas, I will hack your computer? Was this what Wikipedia was meant to be? In the dark, in the shadows ... I will make this dark deed ... I will break up your files, sneak and search... I will violate your privacy, your home, your thoughts. And .... Nobody will know, nobody will care. Hacking is a poisonous invisible attack. Is this the way we are supposed to build Wikipedia? A nice, collaborative project=? Is this the way things will happen from now on? This is how it is going to work? No respect for any rules, laws ... Hafspajen, and any talk page watchers -- I was just reading the article on Jules-Élie Delaunay. In the second paragraph we read that Delaunay
"Quattrocentists" is a red link, so I was looking for something I might be able to link it to. I found the article Quattrocento. The first sentence of that article says that "Quattrocento" is the "cultural and artistic events of 15th century Italy". However, Delaunay lived in the 19th century. Was Delaunay really adopting a style of the 15th century? Very puzzling. Corinne ( talk) 22:30, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

The Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.
The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up citations?
Please help us thank editors who display sustained patterns of excellence, working tirelessly in the background out of the spotlight, by submitting your nomination for Editor of the Week today!

The Challenge Series is a current drive on English Wikipedia to encourage article improvements and creations globally through a series of 50,000/10,000/1000 Challenges for different regions, countries and topics. All Wikipedia editors in good standing are invited to participate.
Hello, Hafspajen. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve.
In addition, the WikiProject is seeking a new facilitator/coordinator to handle the logistics of the award. Please contact L235 if you are interested in helping with the logistics of running the award in any capacity. Remove your name from here to unsubscribe from further EotW-related messages. Thanks, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) via MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 05:19, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
Dear Hafspajen,
Seeing the notice of your retirement, I do not know whether this message will reach you—I do not even know if this is the correct place to put it—however, you have always been so kind, whether it be with the generosity of your expertise in helping or advising me; or in the thoughtfulness of your Christmas & New Year's Greetings, to say nothing of your most encouraging comments on a given article I may have contributed, or an elaboration or clarification of an already extant piece on which you feel I have done well ... in this light, I could not fail to at least try to wish you all the best on this first day of the New Year. (I do regret, a text message is still all of which I am capable; I have never learnt your skill at art work).
Once again, I thank you sincerely for all your kind and thoughtful encouragement, and your having made me feel so welcome; (it can mean so much to one such as myself, i.e. elderly & anything but au fait with the proper way of doing things, and sometimes even just how to do a given thing at all).
A very happy New Year to you!
With every good wish for you & yours in 2017!
—And do enjoy your retirement!—
Sincerely,
Chris

Sounds like perhaps somebody broke in through Windows Remote Desktop. It's supposed to let a technician fix your computer from afar, but if hackers tricked you into letting them in through that door, they could take full control over your computer as you describe and install any type of awful spyware / malware / viruses they wanted to. You really need to either reinstall Windows or just buy a new computer, imo. Zeng8r ( talk) 16:31, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

I only chose the painting because it looked nice...

I will work on gathering some data, and thinking up some potential candidates, as well.
p.s. Saw your talkpage-notice, requesting hauntingly-beautiful kitten-pictures, so here you go. :-)

A rather messy start made. The source given in Danish Wikipedia is frankly nasty about his work, and I need to look for more sources anyway. I also need to track down a source for who is who in that quintiple portrait. However, now I must go to bed. Yngvadottir ( talk) 13:55, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

It is not about only me. It I bout us. It is about our efforts ... Was. Hafspajen ( talk) 17:35, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

Sincerely,
