I was wondering if you'd care to chime in on something Zappa brought to my attention. He and I are torn on whether to include any mention of all the throwback schemes in the 2015 Bojangles' Southern 500 article. There's certainly a lot of fanfare and Zappa says he's got plenty of sources for the schemes, but he and I aren't sure if it's notable enough considering we never track paint scheme changes from one race to the next and the throwback schemes won't affect the outcome of Sunday's race. Hi Bentvfan54321, I've noticed you adding the Wikiproject Motorsport tag to a large number of American racing articles, together with the American Open Wheel Racing one. As a general rule of thumb, it is not always necessary to add the tag of the parent Wikiproject (WP Motorsport) on the talk page if the article in question is wholly within the remit of a child project. So for example, an article about an Indycar race would only need the WP American Open Wheel Racing tag, while one for a driver who also competed outside of America needs to have both tags. It is, of course, entirely harmless to add both to an article, and it certainly isn't wrong, but it may make your job easier in the future if you only add the one when necessary. Hi Bentvfan54321, It was me who edits Kyle Busch's NASCAR results all the time. I think you are wrong - that different colors are for positions 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-43. It doesn't matter if the driver finished the race or not as you said (regular visitor doesn't care anyway, he wants to see just that finishing position). And by the way - I edited all Kyle Busch's results and no one but you claimed it's wrong. And for example, take a look at 2008 Nationwide Series race at Kentucky (No. 16) - Kyle finished 30th, he wasn't running at the finish and the color is different than at 2015 Xfinity Series race at Homestead (No. 33) and no one cares. So what's the problem? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mannoroth81 ( talk • contribs) 11:13, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
I see. Sorry about that continuous changing all the time then. I was wrong and I'm gonna fix Kyle Busch's results soon. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mannoroth81 ( talk • contribs) 15:22, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
Hi, Bentvfan. I created the article linked above and wanted to thank you for the updates and improvements. In particular, this edit caught my attention, as those are accessibility features seen in featured lists. If you're ever looking for something to do, those of us who frequent the featured list process would be interested in what you could do, if that edit is any indication. There are currently no FLs related to NASCAR or American open-wheel racing, making for rare gaps in our sports FL collection. Between individual race winners (Daytona 500, Indianapolis 500, etc.), season champions, all-time leaders, award recipients, halls of fame, and other categories, there's a lot of potential high-quality articles out there. I don't know how interested you may be in this type of editing, but if you can reformat a table like that, you're capable of making a table in an FL, and I don't see that often among editors with no previous involvement at FLC. It's something that I wanted to note and commend. While I'm here, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Giants2008 ( Talk) 01:16, 25 December 2015 (UTC)
I'm old school and want to use the past tense when talking/writing about things that happened in the past. Either I'm just noticing it more lately or people really are more often using the present tense for everything which I find unnecessarily confusing. Your comment when changing my change from 'was' to 'is' had the acronym MOSTV which I don't recognize. I'd love to hear your thoughts, references, etc. behind your 'is'. Thanks!
Thanks! MiriamPschtto ( talk) 21:49, 29 December 2015 (UTC)MiriamPschtto .................... Answered my own question re: MOSTV. I'm not crazy about using the present tense as laid out in the style guide but such is life. Thanks again. MiriamPschtto ( talk) 22:01, 29 December 2015 (UTC)MiriamPschtto
