Formerly
ThatMontrealIP. Out of curiosity I looked up the account Possibly. It turned out that the account had only made two edits, fourteen years ago. That made it possible to
usurp the account. Is this new name better than the old one? Possibly.
Things I do
Write short stub articles, mostly on women artists (see below).
Rescue as many artist stubs as I can, from draft or deletion. Lately I have been using
this search to find promising artist stubs that are floating out in the draft–space ocean.
Cruise a few (undisclosed) talk pages. Some people have lively talk pages.
Participate in AfD discussions for artists.
Article stubs
Most of the articles listed below are very short stubs on women artists. This is a little effort to help
Wikipedia's gender gap.
At some point, I noticed that Wikipedia's notability criteria (
WP:ARTIST) says that a person is (likely) notable enough for an article if they are included in several museum collections. So, I went through a museum collection (the
Whitney, to start) and looked to see who did not have an article and was also included in other museum collections. I use a
basic template to create the stubs (name, DOB, included in x + x collections). If you have suggestions on how to improve the template, let me know on my talk page, or if you are experienced in such matters, just
edit the template!
The stubs below were mostly found by searching online museum collections.
the
National Gallery of Canada, which required parsing the html code that gave the full list of their collection. Their main page only showed a few artists at a time, while all the artists were hidden in the HTML.(Completed, yielded about 150 women artists. By my count there are at least a dozen men for every woman in the National Gallery of Canada collection.)
The
Tate Gallery, London: yielded a dozen or two. Their collection is perhaps 85% men. Completed July 2021.
The "MAC", AKA the
Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, my hometown museum. I parsed the HTML source code for their collections page and deleted the male names to find the women in their collection (in progress).
The
Museum of Fine Arts Houston: completed October 2021. They have quite a stellar photography collection! The recent acquisitions were aslo terrific to look at.
One thing to note here is that many museums do not provide "flat lists" of their collections. The Whitney and Smithsonian did, which made it very easy to locate notable women artists!
Museo ABC, Spanish museum of graphic illustration.
Judith Rothschild, an American abstract painter who left her $40 million dollar collection of art to an eponymous foundation to support art. Good on ya Judith.
Catherine Widgery. How is it possible that this American public artist and sculptor, who has done
53 public art projects across North America, didn't have a page?
Ulla Wiggen, Swedish painter of exquisite circuits.
I've written (anonymously) to the following organizations to ask them to upload an image to Wikimedia Commons for their article. I have no connection to any of these organizations. Keeping track here also serves to demonstrate whether or not anyone ever uploads the requested image!
Hey, I just wanted to say thanks.
Paul Couvrette's article is teaching me about how to be a Wikipedia contributor without going out of bounds. Your edits and the steps you've taken have helped a lot.
Thank you for all of your efforts to rescue and greatly improve the KT article!

On
6 June 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Candy bar protest, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in 1947, Canadian children staged a nationwide candy bar protest against an increase in the price of chocolate bars from five to eight cents? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at
Template:Did you know nominations/Candy bar protest. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (
here's how,
Candy bar protest), and it may be added to
the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the
Did you know talk page.

Alyssa Carson. Thanks for working hard to figure out how to talk about her "astronaut training"/media coverage in a neutral way. Awesome work!

I've seen you around a bit recently and you strike me as a very competent user all around who's done quite a bit of good work in a pretty short time period while remaining generally civil and very patient, it seems. Thanks for all the work you do and keep it up! This barnstar is well earned (and for what it's worth, I got very confused too when looking at the two Amanda's--who would have guessed that there would be two people named
Amanda Brinkman with somewhat similar careers!)

In addition to your excellent work on content, I am impressed by your very civil efforts to promote civility. Athough I don't know any magic that changes angry, aggressive editors into polite ones, thanks for being you.
