Staropoltavsky District ( Russian: Старополта́вский райо́н) is an administrative district ( raion), one of the thirty-three in Volgograd Oblast, Russia. [1] Municipally, it is incorporated as Staropoltavsky Municipal District. [5] It is located in the northeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 4,120 square kilometers (1,590 sq mi).[ citation needed] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Staraya Poltavka. [2] Population: 20,363 ( 2010 Russian census); [3] 23,633 ( 2002 Census); [7] 25,691 ( 1989 Soviet census). [8] The population of Staraya Poltavka accounts for 20.1% of the district's total population. [3]
